Oops! Butt posted duplicate posts. It’s really Monday in Booland.
What a great bunch of ideas for Mother’s Day! Sounds like she had a lovely day. She deserves it. Hopes she special orders herself a swell bike in a fun color.
An interesting weekend was had here. Saturday afternoon we went to a new Mediterranean restaurant. The food was very tasty butt we both assploded shortly afterwards. ![]()
Butt we recovered, and that evening we went and had dinner with some friends, at their house! For the first time in a year anna half. Then we sat in their actual living room and talked for 4 hours!
Lord honey, it was excitin’! I’m not usually a terribly social person and don’t usually feel a need to be in the physical presence of other people, but I found that I was happy we did that.
That was the good part of our weekend. Yesterday the plumbing backed up. I know what the problem is, but I am hesitant to spend a couple of days digging up the yard, and I don’t have multiple dollars to hire it done, so I have a device, like this one that I keep attached to a garden hose for this one singular purpose, and I stick it down the cleanouts and blow the pipes out. Well, I did that yesterday morning. But, as I was pulling it out of the last cleanout it got stuck a bit, and I jiggled and tugged on it. Not hard. but apparently hard enough. It popped off the end of the hose and disappeared back down into the drain pipe.
I saw it go! By the time I got on my knees and stuck my arm down that Sh#tty pipe, it was gone. ![]()
Our plumber friend is coming over this afternoon to see what he can do about it. %le sigh% but in the meantime, he told us not to run any water. So we haven’t been able to use the bathroom or shower, or anything.
To top it all off, our diarrhea came back last night and we had to make 2 runs to Wifey’s office (2 blocks away) to use the restroom there.
Wifey has gone to her office for the usual Monday morning office meeting. There will be 20+ people there, with a single-seater bathroom.
I’m thinking I may run out to Fred Meyers. They have 3 seats in their restroom. The only place in town where there’s a good chance of getting seat.
I have nightmares about this sort of situation, and now it’s happening.
Happy Moanday y’all
Bumba, Yikes! What a weekend. Hope the bathroom problem gets fixed fast, or your next outdoor assignment will be digging a latrine…
nellie, so very happy for you and yours. Hope this is one of many visits to follow.
FCM, your wrote..
Hmmmmmm…
Wizard, sounds like a wonderful Mom-Day at the Magill residence.
Talky, enjoy sister and dinner.
OK, Moanday shopping and sammich are both completed, now soccer practice (weather permitting, it’s still cool and damp outside, even without rain) and some book-keeping to do. Everyone take care.
Baked ravioli is in the oven for supper. It will be replaced by a blueberry crisp for dessert. Supper shall contain much yum!
MetalMouse - he crashed because she ran him thru a series of exercises that flat wore him out, so hush!
He has to do the exercises twice a day, plus walk as much as he can. He does laps thru the house at frequent intervals.
And, of course, the sun is out and it’s loverly outside. I have Roxy tomorrow so I’ll be working in the basement while she plays down there. Not sure about the rest of the week - I need to ask. After supper, tho.
Howdy Y’all! I adulted, achieved nappage, hauled my and my neighbor’s biiiiiiiiiiig trash cans all the way up from the road to where they stay durin’ the week, and we went to the hog trough Golden for a late N.O.L./early sup. Next up is Vestry meetin’ at six o’clock. I shall betake myself over to the church house in a bit.
I once sued an airline when they lost my luggage. Sadly, I lost my case.
Why is Sunday stronger than Monday?
Monday is a week day.
Welcome back bob_bob!
It sounds like you had a most excellent weekend nellie.
I hope your friend can get the plumbing problems straightened out bumba.
I’m not punny enough for the OP topic.
Irked, came home and am chilling. It’s like fall weather, but at least nothing was falling from the sky today.
I’m taking Thursday and Friday off. I need a break and since SIL and I are both fully vaccinated, we’re going on a ramble Friday. It’s been way too long since we’ve done that. We’ve discussed heading to northwest Tennessee to the Teapot Museum in Trenton. I’m not sure if we want to start with a three hour each way trip, but we’ll play it by ear.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
The Raleigh Weather DomeTM pshed the storms away, so I got Grdie to do his business.
Yes to denture adhesive, no to goats. But occasionally there are live bees. ![]()
That sucks, Bumba, hope all your pipes get fixed quick.
Enjoy the ramble, red!
Evening all. On the phone for the Regional Soccer meeting, appears I’m going to be honored for my work over the years with the Region with an article on their website and Facebook page (and a $150 Amazon gift certificate). I’m properly humbled, but also insufferably pleased with myself (but privately)…
Soccer practice got cancelled due to still-wet fields, so paid a bill, wrote a letter, and mailed both, with a final stop at the red-hair girl’s place. Chance of rain tomorrow so practice then is in jeopardy. We shall see.
FCM, my best to FCD…I get tired unloading dishes from the washer.
red, have a good trip. Thinking of taking 2-3 days off and visit Vicksburg in June, maybe work up to a little longer trip in July.
OK, meeting is still going on on another screen and my phone, so guess I ought to pay some attention to them. All y’all take care.
Wow! Congratulations, MetalMouse! It’s so uplifting to see someone awarded who so richly deserves it. May I stand in the light of your reflected glory?
Howdy Y’all! I survived another Vestry meetin’. Only eight more to go and I am off duty. Got back to da cave at eight o’ clock and decided it was popcorn, diet Poopsie and Netflix time.
MetalMouse huzzah! You deserve the award.
Bob x Bob welcome back!
Nellie glad you had a good visit with the young’uns et al.
I made a pun about the wind, but it blows.
Almost 80F still, and it’s almost 9pm. Ick. Bonus points for smoky smell around town. I’m not aware of any current wildfires in the area, but still…
Decided to pull the trigger on a new phone (my current one is a PITA as far as managing storage space, plus the screen is cracked and it’s causing screen response problems, plus it’s getting rough enough to be a finger hazard). At least I’ll have something to do over the weekend while coping with my second vaccine dose.
Found out from DBIL that another chunk of MIL’s estate has been found and will shortly be cashed out and distributed, so fully debt-free in a few weeks and can get some overdue personal/car maintenance handled. That or I’ll save that toward enough of a rent buffer that we’d be OK on DH’s income if I decided to tell Hades Annex to kiss my rump, which is tempting.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.
Congrats Metalmouse!
Glad to hear you have some options, Nettie.
Many congrats, MetalMouse!! I’m always impressed by the amount of time and (literal) energy you put into all your soccer stuff - good man!
Nettie - yay for found estate! A financial cushion is such a stress-relief measure. I can remember a day I had $20 in the bank 2 days from payday, with a nearly empty pantry. It was long enough ago that writing checks for groceries was a thing so I kited a check to feed the family… It was such a relief when we were able to start building our savings. Which means now when I have to dip into savings, I feel momentary panic, illogical as it is.
Well, time to fetch the RoxStar. Off I go! Happy Tuesday!!
oh lord mom was the queen of kiting checks …it got to the point that the grocery stores didn’t even bother putting the checks in until the 1st and 3rd which would pretty much empty the grocery budget so shed go back out and write a few more checks … I
f it wasn’t for the IHSS program that a social worker told her about she of went to jail for check fraud at some point well that and in the 90s recession la county wouldn’t prosecute a bad check that was under 500 dollars …
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven!
‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and possibly rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. The big items for the day are laundry and bug man will be here this mornin’ to do his monthly thang. Sup shall be chili/cheese/slaw dawgs and fries. Fartfest to follow.
Nettie yay for a financial cushion. It does feel good to know there’s a little sump’n there just in case.
Never discuss infinity with a mathematician, they can go on about it forever.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Lord honey, you’re braver than I. Might’ve brought my own towels/camper chairs, if it was me dealing with two such, ah, closely spaced events.
What’s the opposite of ladyfingers?
Mentos.
Oh, believe me, I’m ashamed of myself, too.
Mornin’ everyone. I have no puns, sorry about that.
Congrats on the soccer recognition, Metal Mouse! I am always impressed by how much time you invest in this past time.
Mother’s Day was very nice. The kids, grandkids, and my mother came and we all had a pleasant time. We took the grandkids to a neighborhood park and let Zoe climb on the toys while Adam sat in the grass. My son-in-law prepared a nice meal, and both he and my husband cleaned up the kitchen so I didn’t have to do it.
Bumba, I hope your plumbing issues have been fixed.
Every time I heard “Lord, honey!”, I think of that guy who won the best baker or something on Food Network. He’s now a judge on many of those shows. I actually hear it in his voice, lol!
I don’t have much else going on in my world. I am feeling poorly today, and normally I’d tough it out and work. But, I’m not going to do that today. I sent my acting boss and some other folks on my team in my state an email stating I would be out today. I just need some rest, I think.
I have no o-pun-ion on this topic, so carry on.
