I did a silly thing at work today - already. I sent a cranky email escalating an issue to my boss’s boss, which isn’t unusual. What wasn’t usual was I accidentally copied the people causing the problem. Oops. I told my boss what happened and she laughed. Apparently I’m usually so nice at work that people find it a little shocking when I get mad. I guess at least it’s an attention getter.
Morning all. Body mugged brain and stayed in bed until 8:30am today. Rain forecast for this evening, but should be able to get a soccer practice in (weather permitting). Need to do some household stuff, mostly re-arranging items, but nothing really major.
I’m also thinking of seeing if my dentist is taking appointments or not, given that I’m vaccinated and haven’t been in to see her in over a year. Saw the eye Doc in August 2020 so will wait a year on that.
talky, know the feeling; I once criticized the foreign Air Force I was working on behalf of (as a US Government employee) in a private e-mail back to my supervisor, and it got in as part of a chain that ended up back to the country–had a line of Colonels just waiting to blister my butt… Upshot is you never know (even if you hadn’t included them), where that message is going to end up.
Taters, take it easy and be well.
Nettie, add my congrats on having a cushion and getting the debts paid. Both of my parents (Mom was 37 and Dad was 45 when I came along) lived through the Depression and were very cautious and careful about money. I’ve tried to be the same, glad you are feeling for more comfortable these days.
OK, need to Instant Breakfast here shortly (one of my medicines says to take on an empty stomach and not each until an hour later) and then get about the day. All y’all take care.
On May 9 around 6:30 am, deputies responded to a report of a single-car collision in the 4500 block of Anderson Rd in Blaine. Upon arrival, deputies noted the vehicle in the ditch, and the driver, 32-year-old Anthony Veto of Ferndale was outside the vehicle. One passenger with a bloody nose was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Based on interactions with Mr. Veto and witness reports, probable cause existed for him to be arrested for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
While deputies were taking Mr. Veto into custody, they discovered a holstered handgun in his pant pocket. Mr. Veto is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess a firearm. Mr. Veto was also arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
While being taken into custody, Mr. Veto resisted arrest. He was finally brought to the ground on his stomach and eventually placed into a patrol vehicle. He continued to repeatedly kick the car doors and windows while in the back seat. Mr. Veto was transported to the hospital for a blood draw and while waiting in a patrol vehicle, kicked both rear doors with so much force that they would not close properly. This damage rendered the patrol car inoperable and it had to be taken out of service. Mr. Veto again struggled with deputies while transporting him from the patrol car to the hospital, forcing deputies to put him into additional restraints. Because of this, probable cause exists to charge Mr. Veto for Resisting Arrest and Malicious Mischief 1st.
After being treated and released from the hospital, Mr. Veto was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.
At 06:30 on Sunday morning, I was still asleep. It was a couple of miles away, I wouldn’t have heard anything if it had happened 25 minutes later when I was awake. But who says nothing interesting ever happens up here?
Phase 1 of patching is done. The ceiling is phase 2. I don’t like working over my head, but one must do what one must do. The compound I’m using is really neat - it’s pink, but when it’s ready to be sanded, it turns completely white. No guesswork involved!
Meanwhile, Roxy and her grandpa are napping - in separate rooms, of course. Putting the two of them together is just asking for shenanigans! Plus she’s just allowed an hour of sleep or so. He can sleep as long as he likes.
While it’s quiet, I shall assume the position and continue afghaning.
So apparently your man was trying to veto his arrest…
Breakfasted (venison steak, courtesy of the housemate’s father) and caffeinated; morning meds are next, and then we’re off to BJ’s for a few odds & ends.
The Roxnado has gone home. Peace reigns! She’ll be back tomorrow, but I don’t know about the rest of the week yet. Daughter has a blood glucose test on Firday, and I may have Roxy for a little while - depends on whether SIL has to work.
We’re having salads for supper, maybe with some leftover ravioli on the side. Other than that, max chillage is on the agenda.
Heh! That’s where we got it from. We even try to imitate his accent when we say it.
Our plumbing issue has been fixed. Our friend came over yesterday afternoon with his sewer camera and tools. First we stuck the camera down the cleanout and found the blaster (bladder). Fortunately it hadn’t gotten very far. Then our friend fashioned a hook out of some wire and attached it to his plumbing snake with electrical tape and stuck it down the pipe alongside the camera and nudged the bladder back to us an inch at a time until he could reach in and grab it.
Believe me, the next time I use that thing, I’ll tighten it on real good and wrap it with duct tape.
It has lived on that special piece of garden hose for years and I never took it off. I was surprised that it would come off, much less come off by itself.
We also had a look down the pipe most of the way to the street and what I saw makes me glad we’re selling this place this year. We will, of course, disclose the condition of our drain lines, but I ain’t gonna fix 'em. Nossir! We’ll take the cost to fix off the purchase price and let the buyer deal with it.
Actually, we’ll prolly sell to a developer who will tear this place down and build 2 houses on this double lot. I’m kinda sorry we spent so much money on our new roof now.
I love that stuff! Haven’t been able to find it locally lately though.
My vertigo has been kicking my butt lately. I had to do the Epley maneuver yesterday and again this morning, which helped a bit, but I’ll have to keep doing it again for awhile. Fortunately it doesn’t bother me when I drive, and if I walk carefully and don’t turn my head when I’m walking.
Well, need to take another box of clothes to goodwill. Wifey decided her closet was a good place to start Marie Condoing her stuff.
Dammit. Last time I got wings, I got the 10-pc order and it was too much.
Tonight, I got the 6-pc order, and am half-seriously considering putting in another order and driving back up there. (It’s, like, a whole seven or ten minutes to get there, so no need for poses of woe just yet.) Maybe.
Meanwhile, yet another load of laundry is in the wash - but I haven’t put away the last ones yet!
Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and dinner has been consumed, so all is good. Rain is over Mississippi right now and may (or may not) be here around bedtime. Either way, I’ll be inside and not worrying about it.
shoe, sounds like you need an 8-pc order on the wings.
Bumba, good news on the plumbing recovery. I for one have no interest in starting down my drainpipe…
OK, back to internettin’ and readin’. All y’all take care.
Howdy Y’all! I am happy to report that Adult things happened a lot today here at da cave. Go Us! The bug man came and did his thang, laundry got laundered, shirts got ahrned, laundry got put away. Also, I made some purchases of cleanin’ stuff needed at the church house and got all that over there. Online orderin’ and curb side pickup at Sam’s and Home Despot is da bomb! Since tomorrow promises to be yuck weather wise, I decided to go ahead and put the trash cans out whilst there even though they (two of ‘em this week) won’t get picked up until Thursday. Then, since I was there, I took care of candle duty. Then, since I was already out and about, I went to the Pubic Sto’ to lay in some provisions just to get that done. OYKW went to the Food/Winn/Harvey’s Lion Dixie (our now name for this store which has been Harvey’s and Winn-Dixie, and is now Food Lion) to procure comestibles as well. Then sup got cooked and et and the kitchen got cleanded up. Now it’s chill and fartfest time.
Bumba glad your plumbin’ woes are over.
Taters hope you’re feelin’ better soonest.
Flyboy I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago there was an apparently large and in charge car chase out on the main road about two miles from da cave that involved the state patrol and local Sheriff. I did not know anything about it until I saw it on the news. There was a roadblock and everything.
Remember how I said I have been waitin’ for the HVAC folks to finish up over to the church house? They haven’t yet so I called, yet again, and was told the followin’. They are waitin’ on the delivery of some special wires they needed to order so the job can be finished. Special wires. We have two seven and a half ton HVAC units that are such delicate snowflakes they need special wires. This has amused me all day.
Apple is designing a new automatic car. But they’re having trouble installing Windows!
I talked to SIL this evening. We’ve decided not to go to the teapot museum Friday, but we will ramble. Nelson has been agitated because the TNNG has been doing training exercises with Blackhawks and helicopters (I live less than a mile from the airport and NG armory). They’ve stopped for now.
I just thought of a quote from my dad to go with the OP topic. As he would say, he’s so bright his mama called him son.
I did nothing exciting today. I have to say, I’ve been retired 5 years, and I still feel bad that I don’t get more done. That work ethic thing sure gets in the way.
I’d go for the 10-piece and have two for lunch the next day.
Bumba, glad the plumbing issue is done.
I’m happy, too, though I have to say, when I see “adult things,” I assume stuff that’s a lot more fun than laundry and the arrival of the bug man. I blame it on the popularity of “adulting,” which so many former students use. Hope the HVAC folks get their act together soon.
Oh, I’d LOVE to go there! I have a few teapots, mostly inherited, and they’re among my favorite possessions.
If I’d gotten all those … I wouldn’t have been hungry enough to eat 'em all. Story of my life.
No matter, I have a frozen cordon bleu thingie juuust about ready to come outta the oven. (Couldn’t be arsed to drive back … okay, didn’t wanna shameface and be, like, “Yeah, imma need more wings, plzthxkbye.”)
Earlier, after irk, I scooped both the primary AND secondary litter boxes ( ) and washed & dried my bathrobe & one of my big ol’ bath towels ( ) so you know it’s been just Party Central 'round here!
My German teacher has an out-of-office reply on her email on weekends. She’ll answer if she wants to, of course, but she makes it very clear she does not answer emails on weekends as a matter of course.
Most of the winter garden is completed, but they have to come back and set all the paving stones back in according to the bottom rail of the glass panels.
Went to the doctor on Monday due to constant ringing in my left ear. She did a hearing check and I have hearing loss in my left ear at 1500 Hz, but only there. So I have an appointment with a specialist today.
And in the time of Covid, being unvaccinated and being on a steroid makes me a bit more nervous. At least I can stay isolated.
Guess I’ll just have to play it by ear.
Still catching up, but need to run to the store.
Did you hear about the guy who wanted to buy 12 bees, but got 13? When he asked the beekeeper he was told, “It’s a freebie.”
Have a good Wednesday (which is Friday for me, because tomorrow is a HOLIDAY!!!)
