Saturday, Sunday, Punday - a New MMP

BTW - the inlaw saga continues (remember that??)

MIL got them set up with a whole new set of doctors, including their GP, cardiologist, and neurologist. She didn’t get the answers she wanted from the last batch, so…

She has it in her head that if FIL gets back surgery, his Parkinson’s will get better. I don’t know either… I wonder if doctors talk to each other about patients who go doctor-shopping?

Shortly, I’ll load Roxy in the car and we’ll drive thru a carwash. Then we’ll head over to the playground to frolic till her mom claims her. FCD is up and doing something in his office before a meeting in an hour or so. He’s glad to be working again, but it’s pretty exhausting for him - he slept till after 10 today (tho he was up at midnight due to the pain.)

And for the record, apart from feeding folks and running the dishwasher, I haven’t done a constructive thing all morning! So much for my productivity.

We’re moving into our new building the middle of June, so we all have to clean out our orifices.

I’ve tossed two (identical) books of Standard Industrial Classifications (1987) into the recycle bin. Another book… Well, I kind of hate to toss it. It’s The Executive’s Desk Book.

It was originally published in 1934, and this edition is 1959. I guess it’s in ‘fair’ condition. The binding is loose, and there’s wide, clear tape reinforcing the front cover so it doesn’t tear off. Page 49/50 is loose. Opening the book randomly, I find myself on page 234, which addresses hiring. The first thing it says is:

Get name and address

  1. Be sure to have the full names and addresses of your employees and of their nearest relatives. You may have to locate them to testify in a lawsuit ten years hence.

The chapter appears to be Business Laws.

Maybe I’ll see if I can sell it on eBay.

‘Hey, Siri… Tell [Mrs. L.A.] I forgot to fill Tonka’s outside water bowl.’

‘Your message says, “I forgot to fill tacos outstide water bowl.”’

What kinds?

In this case, at the point where they increased gas prices because the flow through the pipeline stopped. They’d still be able to sell everything on hand at the same price, and now the problem is fixed they can sell everything at the same price. Absolutely no need to raise prices.

Only reason I have a debit card is because a few years ago the credit union cancelled all their ATM cards and issued chipped debit cards to replace them.

Hurray!

Up at 0730 for an 0810 echocardiogram. Why they even expect my heart to be beating that early in the morning… Back to bed as soon as we got home, and got up at a much more reasonable 1300. If not for the two-hour interruption, I probably would have been up around 1030-1100.)

Afternoon all. Two loads of laundry are washed and dried and put away, so my baskets are empty and I shouldn’t need to call upon my skills in that area until June. 73F and just a few clouds in the sky, so soccer should be fun today. Have also re-arrranged my SPR (Strategic Pepsi Reserve) which is currently at 150% capacity, thanks to several sales. Also did a toilet paper count and tallied 92 rolls, which should meet even swampy’s exacting standards.

Wizard, great news of Ms. Magill, hope it just keeps getting better.

Herald, glad your heart is still functioning; do they have to shave your chest to attach the pads (I think I’m right that you are a male person…)

flyboy, I imagine someone will want to buy that book…maybe Elon Musk…

FCM, everybody gets a day off now and then… And hope the in-laws get sense talk to them by the new crop of Drs.

boofae, I think it is required of anyone working in a bureaucratic job to have to sit through at least one useless class per year…if you work for the U.S. Government, the number is slightly higher…

OK, contemplating nappage before soccer today. All y’all take care.

well now the fire is at 400 acres …but its on the far side of the valley/desert so other than the occasional copter or water plane we probably won’t see anything of it

MetalMouse - no one will change MIL’s mind. She has decided and that’s that. She won’t even listen to her own sister who was a nurse for a gazillion years and whose husband also has Parkinson’s. As she’s gotten older, MIL has gotten farther and farther out there. I feel so sorry for FCD - he dreads phone calls from her.

Roxy had a major breakthru today - she came down the tube slides at the playground. Until today, she was afraid to try, but there were a gazillion kids playing today and she saw them all having fun, so she joined in. I was a tad nervous only because I didn’t want to have to climb up there and rescue her. But she did fine and had a blast. We were there well over an hour. But now she’s with her mama, and I’ve put away all the groceries.

I had a plan for supper, but I’m rethinking it - we’ll see what FCD thinks when he gets home. I may just throw together a couple of salads and be done with it. I just finished boiling half a dozen eggs - I could devil them to go with the salads.

Sounds like a better plan than the casserole I’d had in mind.

Shame on you.

Howdy Y’all! Been a pretty chill day here at da cave. The only thing borderin’ on excitatement is a call to the company that manages the HVAC service over to the church house to inquire are to why they are billin’ for a service they have yet to perform. They sent a bill for services they are scheduled to perform week after next. Bill has been redacted. Go Me! Do your job then present the bill. Anywho, majik intartoobz pizza and sallit have been ingested and all is well.

Wizard yay on Mrs. Wizard’s good report card. Hope everything is well with the echocardiogram. Had one of those last December. That gel stuff is kinda cold!

I dropped the toothpaste this mornin’. I was crestfallen!

Lovely news~:partying_face::partying_face: hope this round goes easy on her. Sending good thoughts her way, yours too.

MetalMouse, an echo is a sonogram – no shaving required. The operator just holds the transducer against your body in various spots with one hand whilst tapping away at the computer with the other and looking at the pretty pictures.

Wheeeee!! Roxstar!:roller_coaster: Ms. Owl will be adding you to the wild n’ wooly amusement park rider mailing list.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to stop for cash somewhere tomorrow Mooooooom.

Yay for MrsMagill’s improvement magic.

Day 1 of my 4 day weekend down. I got the grocery shopping done, including a trip to World Market for a couple of month’s worth of coffee beans, the bed stripped and remade, a load of towels and sheets washed, a prescription picked up, a CO2 cartridge exchanged, Nelson’s vet appointment rescheduled and a phone call to SIL made, and some sticky rice picked up for her (she doesn’t live near any Asian markets), so we can ramble to our heart’s content (or until two old women get tired) tomorrow.

Saturday, I’m going to pick up some plants from Lowe’s, clean the patio up and play in the dirt.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It’s 82f outside right now. I did a few things today, like checking the sprinkler timer. Wifey thinks it wasn’t working. It was. I put up another grab bar. Had to drill into concrete for that one. That was a treat!
Then I dug the old pressure washer out of storage and blasted the bird poop off of the deck as well as I could. The old pressure washer isn’t very powerful anymore.
Now I’m back inside contemplating whether to walk the dogs or make fajitas for dinner. If I stall long enough I can put off walking the dogs until Wifey gets home.

Yay! for Mrs MaGill and Yay! for Roxy.

I’s hongry!

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and no sudden thunderstorms popped up to end practice early. Weather has stayed nice all day. Mailed a payment for termite control and just finished my Big Bowl O’Sallit, so all is well. Internettin’ and readin’ will occupy the time before bedfall.

Well, you could always make fajitas for the dogs. Or make fajitas of the dogs…

red, enjoy the ramblings.

FCM, congrats on Roxy doing the slides. I guess peer pressure works even at 3 years old…

shady, hope the fire stays put (or out) and doesn’t affect you.

OK, onward into the evening. Catch all y’all on Firday.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. for the day, Nice! Today I shall betake myself over to the church house to assist with mowage. I shall concentrate on the upper part of the back forty, the part that is way away from the buildin’s. The Girl Scout Troop that meets at the church house will be havin’ archery practice up there tomorrow, so we want the grass to be all mowed. Plus, if we waited until tomorrow we’d be dodgin’ arrows whilst mowin’ which would probably not be near as fun as it sounds. Other than that who knows what the day holds. Sup shall be fish ‘n chips from Long John Silver’s due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’.

I keep trying to start exercising, but it just isn’t working out.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall make myself somewhat reasonably presentable for mowage. Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Weird dream last night involving a Mumper! FCD and I won $31 million (which is interesting since we haven’t bought a lottery ticket in forever) and we bought a ticket for BBBoo to accompany us on our Antarctic cruise. Because on the Love Boat, the wealthy couple always travels with their personal nurse. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: But we were especially nice - we got her a balcony cabin rather than one in the bowels of the ship. I woke at that point, but I know how it would all end. BBBoo would meet an amazing man and fall in love and live happily ever after… fade to black.

But, alas, no multi-million dollar jackpot to be found around here, so, sorry BBBoo.

I did wake with a funky gut (did that cause the dream?) but it seems to have settled. Not a huge worry as I have no plans to go anywhere. Last night, we’d discussed going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, but FCD was up half the night - the meeting yesterday took a lot out of him. We’ll try the breakfast thing another day.

Yesterday evening I also remembered that next Weds, we have to go back to Baltimore to see the surgeon. I messaged my daughter kinda late to let her know, since SIL is working all week next week and I was to corral the toddler. With luck, they can find someone to keep her that one day.

As for today - lots to be done in the basement. First order of business is to clear as much crap out as I can, including the assorted rugs. Then I’ll finish the patching of nail holes, etc. Once all of that dries, a quick sanding, then paintage can begin. We’ll see how much gets done this weekend. The new flooring is being installed on May 27/28 - that gives me the better part of 2 weeks to get everything done. But first, I must do my online reading as I breakfast and caffeinate.

Happy Firday, all!!

I’m so happy to hear about Mrs. Magill’s numbers, Wizard! May they get better and better.

Leaving for my dad’s in an hour. It has been lovely to see my sister but I’m a little afraid of seeing my dad. I guess I’ll have a 5 hour drive to get ready. I’m already excited to be back home.

Mornin’ one and all! It’s finally Friday! Yay!

I am very happy to read about Mrs. Magill’s report card. What good news!

I got a call yesterday from my healthcare provider and they asked if we could move up my second COVID shot by one day, which was fine with me. It means I need to take a couple of hours of leave, but under our COVID policy I can charge it to Admin leave, so it’s all good. The bonus is that it opens my whole RDO Friday up instead of having an appointment to take care of. Who knows what I shall do, but it’ll be something, even if it’s weeding, which is more than likely, lol!

The weather was beautiful yesterday, but I was stuck inside working. I managed to squash some sticks and weeds into the yard bin before my husband rolled it down yesterday evening, and I watered my flowers, but that was the extent of my outdoor activities. It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend, so I’ll need to make good use of the weather. Maybe I’ll take a drive, maybe I’ll just do yard work. I’m not sure yet.

Congrats on Roxy doing the slides, FCM. It’s always fun to watch little ones hit a milestone of sorts. When the kids came down this weekend, I sent my daughter home with clothes for Zoe. These were outfits my daughter wore when she was a toddler. I was very pleased to see Zoe was wearing a pair of the overalls I sent home. They were Osh Kosh with a floral print. Soooo cute and Zoe looked adorable in them.

Well, it’s time for another cup of coffee. I shall go press my magic Keurig button.

I have a four-drawer dresser full of clothes from when my kids were little. I held on to the best outfits, I don’t know why. Some were handmade sweaters or special sweaters from Germany, but I also kept some very cute outfits. I’ve sent Zoe home with several of them, so it’s always a treat to see her in them. I have some boy clothes too, so I need to go through and see if Adam can wear any of them. It’s doubtful. He’s seven months old and wearing 12 month clothes.
