what do you think? i personally don’t trust that it gives so few details on “thom’s” situation together with the fact that they are asking for money. it could be a scam. also, the girl who runs the site was very rude on another board while discussing this, but maybe that’s unrelated.
then again, it could be 100% for real. if it is, what do you think of sending some kid you don’t know money? what’s he using the money for? is he actually trying to help himself? why doesn’t he go to the authorities for help?
wouldn’t it be better to send this kid clothes, or offer him a job?
perhaps if he looks older than he is, and was able to pass himself off as being 18? then, again, on the other board his friend implied that he had nothing when he left home. how did he pay all of those deposits?
Damn, sounds like a great way to make money. Why didn’t I think of that? Oh yeah, I have scruples.
Seriously, it could be true. Kids do get kicked out. Question: what was he doing to get kicked out?
Me, I’m hard pressed to believe it. I don’t really know if there’s a way to check it out. You could email, but that’s asking the fox in your henhouse if there’s a fox in the henhouse.
I think you ask some good questions. Personally, I don’t think this is a way to be helpful. Just a new twist to the panhandler on the street. Now the panhandler is on the - no, I won’t say it.
on that other board, i asked if he needed clothes, and what size he wears, but i got no response since the thread was closed due to the site owner’s behaviour. i was just thinking that i have four brothers, surely we can find some clothes that are in good condition but don’t fit anymore.
then again, i’m not sure i could afford to send them to california.
