What about “Wonderboy” Wesley Crusher? Didn’t he leave Starfleet to learn from The Traveller? If so, why was he in uniform at the wedding reception? I know that this is really nitpicking, but he is my least favorite character and I despise everything about him. I almost expected him to show up at the end and save the ship like he has so many times in the past.
You know, I wonder.
Why did everyone forget about the shuttles during the big space battle?
They’ve got transporters.
Heck, they could have just evacuated the air to the lower decks, then told everyone replacing the lightbulbs to get onto shuttles, fly over to the Big Evil Ship and go to town.
Ah well, its what happens when you have 22 seasons of the show where you make up new technology to solve a thorny moral dillema.
Yet another nitpick…
OK, they got one Federation and two Romulan Warbirds firing at Mini-Picard’s ship. They mananged to reach a point where they were each getting in a shot or two before they lost it again. Mini-P’s shields are pretty much staying steady. So why, when Troi tracked down the ship, did a couple of blasts do so much damage? Especially considering that the Enterprise’s firepower was (I’m assuming) less than either of the Romulans’.
And yeah, B-4 blows. I left thinking, what the hell are they gonna do with this putz? They can’t just forget about him, and they can’t possibly keep him as a character. He’s like Jar-Jar’s annoying little cousin. (Never mind the fact that they friggin’ killed Data!)
Why did they bring Wesley back?
He has a non-speaking role:D sitting next to mommy in the Riker/Troi engagement party.
He should be with the Traveller learning how to be a Jedi or a Time Lord or whatever…he resigned his commission to Starfleet Academy, so what is he doing in a dress uniform?
You really don’t want to see what he and the Traveller wear when they are alone…
I definately enjoyed this movie. I have only one question, how come we only mega-analyse Star Trek and other science fiction movies? I mean I’m a trekky as much as the next person, but I think most of the people really don’t get the concept of of the fiction half of sci-fi and try too hard to find scientific holes and not enough time just enjoying the movie for what its worth. Also, all the plot holes really don’t matter for the future NG movies, b/c this was the last one, Patrick Stewart already said he wouldn’t be doing another.
Because the movies come after x many years of continuity in a series. I can’t think of any other movies that continue the story of a tv series using the same cast (so stuff like The Fugitive doesn’t count).
Also, we’re geeks. I’ve got a friend that does exactly the same thing that’s done here for Submarine movies, and another one that does the same for any movie that has anything to do with the army.
They actually filmed some dialogue with Wesley that may have answered your questions but it was cut from the film. Hopefully it will be on the dvd.
Ack!
No!
Please, good gad, no!
Because they felt sorry for Wil Wheaton, I would think. He’s kind of gotten screwed out of a career.
For that matter, why the hell hasn’t John De Lancie/“Q” appeared in a movie yet? Or Lwaxana Troi? The best recurring characters they ever had, and instead we get a Makeup Villian of the Week.
Because he appeared on the Star Trek Weakest Link and met up with Levar Burton (Geordi) who decided he should have a cameo in the new movie and talked Rick Berman into it.
So what should Data have said?? There simply wasn’t time for talking, the great thing about this scene was that all the communication took placed WITHOUT talking. When Data put the transmitter on Picard’s shoulder, well, there were no words needed, they both knew what was going on and so did we.
After Picard beamed off the ship, Data was alone…should he have said some sort of clever line like “Clone THIS!!!” before blowing the ship up???
And just what does one say when one’s clone dies in front of one???
“Bummer. There goes my spare parts.”
I read somewhere that alot of Nemesis wound up on the editing room floor and have seen estimates that a good thirty or forty minutes of the movie that were deleted… can anyone here either confirm or deny that? And if it’s true, is it probable that it will be restored on DVD?
Hollywood type movies are shot at at a 30 : 1 ratio. (at least)
30 feet of film shot for every foot even contemplated being used.
No cite, just personal experience. ( I had/have friends in the industry. Nothing special about me, darnitall…)

Ekeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrs!
[/Kirk angry voice]
I slay me.
Hey! I did it again!
If we can keep the Vulcan humor down to a dull roar, I know the Scalosians were messing with Kirk in “Wink Of An Eye”, but what does it mean, Scalosian Water"?
A single dose of the contaminated Scalosian water was enough to hyper-accelerate people, to the point where Kirk could score with the hot space babe even faster than usual and, presumably, someone could crank out 40 SDMB posts in one day.
And, actually, the subject came up in a different Star Trek thread.
