Anyone catch last night’s crossover between Supernatural and Scooby-Doo. I’ve never watched Supernatural, but couldn’t resist the crossover. Nice use of a first season episode of Scooby, with the right amount of references to classic Scooby tropes.
I haven’t watched it yet, but there have been several “goofy” episodes of the show, including one where Sam and Dean are trapped in various TV genres, one where people are dying cartoon character deaths, an episode where Dean can talk to animals (and starts to take on dog personality traits), a Groundhog’s Day episode, and a Drop Dead Fred episode (among others.)
I love the fact that it didn’t turn out to be a dream sequence and/or the result of a brain injury.. The animation was superb, and the interaction between the characters really worked, and confirmed my long-held belief that Velma was always the hottie in the group.
According to TV Tropes, when the characters are running in and out of doors (a/k/a “Scooby Doors” or “French Farce Doors”), at one point you can see Scrappy Doo.
I saw that.
It’s a great show and I recommend almost all of those episodes.
All of them you listed stream on Netflix.
Long live Supernatural!
…Because nobody stays dead for more than three episodes.
Just watched it, and it was made of pure awesome. An even better cartoon crossover than G.I. Jeff.
I particularly liked the fact that the villain in the non-animated portion somehow looked like a cartoon villain.
John Winchester’s been dead for a decade or so, now… but I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back as a zombie
Crowley is due for a comeback, too.
Also (speculation about future episodes)
The introduction of that character that is older/more powerful than Chuck and Chick in that place where all “dead” angels go can’t be just a one-off appearance. There should be a release of other dead angels and archangels from past seasons by the season finale.
We’ve abandoned it currently, stuck it until last season, but barely remembered any comedy in about 7 or 8 seasons. Last memorable comedy one was the one where they ended up in this world, where they were actors filming Supernatural.
Nice to hear there might be a reason to watch this season then…
I gave up last year but came back for this one too. It was the best SPN I’ve seen in a long time, but… it wasn’t as good as say NUTCRACKER!
Saw it tonight.
Very funny. I love that they convinced the Scooby-gang that ghosts are real and forced themselves to walk it back before exiting TV-land.
“Who cares if we die? Scooby-Doo could die!”
I’d take a bullet for that dog!
Supernatural characters can be chopped up, burned up, exploded, sent to Hell. And still they might return.
Unless they get a successful gig elsewhere. I hear Jeffrey Dean Morgan is hunting zombies on* The Walking Dead*.
But I wouldn’t put it past Supernatural to figure out a crossover…

Missed this episode but will catch it online. The show jumped the shark several seasons ago. But it keeps coming back…
Only if the character is equipped with a penis. The vast majority of reoccurring female characters who have died stayed dead. Jessica, Ellen, Jo, Bela, Charlie, Meg, Ruby, Anna, Pamela, Tessa…
The only exceptions are Mary and Rowena.
This episode has just now started on TNT, thought that the opening scene is worth posting.
If you want to catch up, now is the time.
