Scott Baio is NEXT

Details here:

In short, a co-star of his from Charles in Charge (Nicole Eggert) claims he molested her from when she was 14 to 17 (he was in his mid to late 20s at the time).

He denies it entirely, not surprisingly.

I find her allegations credible, and that she also says (and he doesn’t deny) she had a relationship with him a few years later doesn’t take anything away from them.

Probably not. He has a very carefully prepared and documented rebuttal and she’s already contradicted her own story before. I doubt she has much credibility.

Darn. “Chachi Loves Chucha” would’ve been a fun headline.

Is NEXT an acronym? Is that why it’s all caps?

If it is, what does it stand for?

So, did Chachi grab Crotchie? Don’t know what I believe here, perhaps they just had a relationship that went bad. It wouldn’t break my heart if true, he was an enthusiastic supporter of T***p and he was pretty freaking cruel about Erin Moran when she died.

I’ve always felt that Baio was a very creepy person. The news did not surprise me.

The rebuttal I saw was him trying to demonstrate that she was 18 years and four months old when they got together. So technically legal, but . . .

And at the time I think he was 20-something, right?

According to Wikipedia, he is 57 and she is 46 now, so he would have been about 29 at the time.

Not Exactly (the) Xenophon Type.

I’m guessing. I thought that he was saying that Scott Baio was a failed computer that Steve Jobs made that I really, really wanted when I was in high school.

So you’ve never heard of the idea of using all caps for emphasis? That SOMEONE POSTING IN ALL CAPS IS SEEN TO BE YELLING? Are we new to the internet?

Scott Baio is a creepy jerk IMO but if I’ve learned anything from Operation Yewtree it’s that people I think are creepy jerks are not necessarily molesters of underaged girls, and people I don’t think are creepy jerks just might be.

No. I’ve never heard of that; it’s a completely new concept to me.

Since you aren’t the guy who wrote the thread title, I think I’ll wait for an answer from him.

That’s when he says they started dating after she was 18. Eggert is stating there was sexual contact back when she was 14, so he would have been about 25.

I have no problem believing her claims. I could see her as a star-struck 14-year-old enamored with her older costar who was giving her attention. Many teen girls are ‘in love’ with pop-stars anyway, so it’s not all that different. But even if she was the initiator, that doesn’t make it okay.

I could even see her having a relationship with him later on. At her age, she was probably enjoying the experience of being with him. But then years later she might look back and realize how inappropriate the whole thing was. It’s not uncommon for victims of childhood sexual abuse to later seek out similar relationships. For example, maybe she has always sought relationships with older mentors and is now putting the pieces together about why that is her preference. So it’s totally believable to me that she could continue to work with him and even date him later.

NEXT wasn’t capitalized for any specific reason; sorry if that was confusing.

I’m not aware of Eggert changing her story, except that she hadn’t said it publicly until now.

Technically legal but…nothing. She’s both saying that he was molesting her from the time she was 14 until the time she was 17 AND the first and only time they got together was ‘way after’ Charles in Charge, which was after she turned 18. The ‘technically legal’ part, while relevant to show that it wasn’t statutory rape, is what proves that she’s lying.

Boy, I bet this really derails his career.

There’s a link to this to this facebook message from Scott:

That facebook message has a copy of the message sent to the Dr Oz show detailing how Nicole has two different stories:

I didn’t go beyond that.

Seriously, you really care?

I’m not able to look at the last link – can you quote the relevant portion?
