I was thinking something along the lines of this suggestion. It occurred to me that the Head Screamer probably has at least one power - similar to Jpei’s one-off ability to self-declare as leader, the Head Screamer will have some power, maybe even vote or leader related but I wouldn’t exclude the possibility of a bomb.
Because of the Alka - Cat standoff, I prefer a relatively independent Leader.
Elect Boozy Squid
Cat’s death will confirm your power, not necessarily your alignment.
Let me make sure I understand this:
Alka claims an ability to identify certain Town roles and one Screamer, and he ominously points the Ominous Pointing Finger at CatInASuit. Cat claims to be a semi-Miller with a limited ability to identify the true Head Screamer.
Side note: After being on this board for many years, I just discovered that Ctrl-B and Ctrl-I do the bolding and italicizing. Cool!
If we have an independent investigator, checking whichever one of these two survives Today may be a good idea. (And if this is a good idea, Scum gets a good target, kill whoever survives this standoff, thereby making any investigator waste their action.)
Furrther on anti-bomb precautions; we basically need 5 players’ votes on Cat to be sure (in case the politician is scum or third party, between their “vote” and Cat’s, they could swing 5-1 to 4-3, where the 1 vote would be Gryff or else whoever Alka votes on to start the clock). This holds even if Cat claims the politician has forced him to vote himself; he could be lying and the politician could intervene at the last minute.
Has there been some sort of ruling I missed that says we can’t post PMs because this is taken from the second post of the game where **pedescribe **lists the rules and game mechanics:
Can you post your exact PM, CatInASuit and Alka Seltzer?
I don’t know where it was, but at some point the mods declared that verbatim quotes of PMs are forbidden.
Sorry, all you said was you believed he was the head of the screamers. Or verbatum, scum leader.
But my point was, a Scum leader would have a role name like alpha, head, godfather, pimp or queen. Not Investigator.
Let me also chime in and say that I buy Alka’s roleclaim (or he’s a fantastic guesser at what my rolename was) and the fact that he’s not Scum. I could certainly buy third party, and if he does need to collect all the berynium to steal a win, searching out the Head Screamer allows him to play fully pro-Town by looking for berynium #4 before picking up berynium #3. It’s just something for us to consider, I’m not saying we need to lynch him over an admitted Screamer.
I’m did the not voting Cat because I thought he was a bomb once. I’ll be voting for him toDay.
Why?
As far as I am aware the Model 5 screamer is the most advanced screamer there is. If he isn’t leading the screamers, then who is? Seeing as my role pm is fairly specific about being the only one able to find another Screamer 5, I do not think this is a possibility.
I believe quoting Role PMs after jpei is forbidden. Paraphrase is acceptable.
You will be pleased to know I’m not a bomb this time.
Why, you, of course.
Ok, I give up on being subtle because it’s obvious no-one is listening and I may as well do it before the Leader deadline kicks in and you all decide to vote for me.
Here is a really big hint for the town.
**JC **= Screamer 5 = Investigator(Scum)
**CIAS **= Screamer 5 = ???(Town)
Night 1: Tom Scud = Vanilla
Night 2: Daphne Black = Town Roleblocker/Weak Role Cop
Night 3: Guiri En Espana = Vanilla
You know, just to spell it out in big letters.
/snipped
I’m not sure how comfortable I should be to be confirmed in this way but can confirm that CIAS either got lucky or has investigative powers.
Well, damn. Do you get alignment, or only role info?
Interesting, should we read anything into the fact that Daphne was killed the first night after you investigated her and found her to be a power role?
On that front, she was openly claimed, so scum would have known about her anyway.
So what you’re saying, Cat, is that you’re a full-power investigator? You received full info on your targets? And because you’re full power, Daphne wouldn’t have identified JC as Scum?
I am intrigued by this possibility.
As with any investigator claim, please could you tell us why you chose those particular targets?
I’m not that impressed with the list of investigations. With a complete list of scum and the claimed power-roles (not to mention the death confirmed) it wouldn’t be hard to name two vanilla townies and even if the guess was wrong then power roles would be outed making CAIS’s death a little better for the team.
CatInASuit, by any chance did you leave any breadcrumbs about your early investigations?
So. possibilities:
1 - Cat’s claim is legit. If so, scum and especially the serial killer (if any) are both going to want him dead, and they can’t really afford to let him live for very long, even if they do hope to get him mislynched.
2 - Cat’s claim is BS. He already knew about Daphne, and guessed that most of the remaining players were vanilla. Maybe he picked out a scum buddy to vouch for him (not singling out Gueri, it could be me by this analysis), or maybe he picked out two unclaimed townies on the theory that they were probably vanillas, and (as Digger pointed out on preview) even if he picks out a power role, he’s outed another power role for his buddies to go after, and without this claim, he’s dead today anyway.
If Cat’s claim is legit, we have a nice pool of confirmed Town. If the scum let him live for a night, we get another confirmed town or outed scum. At some point, scum or SK will have to kill him. The longer they let him live, the bigger the pool of info, even if we have to treat it as null until he is dead.
Against that: he might have some kind of scum night power he really wants to get a chance to use, especially if it’s a one-shot. Say, a bonus night-kill. That’s the biggest argument I can think of for lynching him now.
If we lynch him now:
If scum, YAY, DEAD SCUM BOSS!
If town, 2 confirmed Town against a mislynch.
If we wait until tomorrow, and lynch him if he’s still alive
If scum, possible mislynch today, and whatever night power he really wants to use.
If town, 3 confirmed Town or 2 Town and a scum/third party, and a mislynch, or else 2 confirmed Town and a chance to hunt scum in a smaller pool.
If we wait 2 days before lynching (and more than 2 days, I think we can’t afford)
If scum, possible mislynch today, probable mislynch tomorrow (as he puts his thumb on the scales with a flawed investigation), and unknown night power usage.
If Town, some combination of 4 investigations.
I’m having a hard time sorting this out.
