The group gathered in the middle of the town again, and before any real discussion had been raised, Alka announced, “CiaS is totally the head screamer!”
“Aha!” yelled Tom Scud. “Hark, foul villian! Show your face, knave, so we can throw you to the dogs!”
Cias looked up from his snack. “Oh. No. Yeah, I’m the head screamer, but I’m totally town. Yeah. I’m not a scum, you guys.”
Tom grabbed him. “Do not listen to his gilded tongue, fellow compatriots, for he will try to bring us to our knees!”
As they carried Cias to the tester, he stated, “Wait, I’m a detective. And eenie meenie miney Guiri is scum. Yup. Not me though.”
“You lecherous rouge! We cover our ears, lest your slithering doubletalk influence us!” shouted Tom agian, as he threw Cias into the machine.
The machine rumbled and whirred. “Aah. Aah.” stated Cias.

To be honest I expected the music box to be a distraction if a screamer tried to grab you (i.e screamer stops and stares at the box while you escaped).

In the movie the only guy they didn’t kill outright was the guy who knew where a spacecraft that could fly to earth is. I think the movie was suggesting that the screamer would cause all sorts of mayhem if it got to earth.
If this is the case then I would expect Alka is the one they want, but if so they would have known for days about him.
