Or back to 2 scum teams? In which case all my analysis based on which players fingered Chronos (or Cat) early would be pretty much useless. Graaagh! Damn mods.
If Cat was Scum, what could account for two investigators? It can’t be anything to do with the apparent excess of mason-like stuff, because investigators don’t counter that, really. The flips don’t say what the investigators actually DO – maybe each of them was strongly limited in some way.
Yeah, his two-tier reveal of his investigation results doesn’t really make sense as Town, though it doesn’t make much more sense as Scum.
I can vaguely see a Town player trying to hide the investigator part of his claim at first, though it would be pretty dumb.
I would have thought the odds would have been in favour of catching at least one of the other scum team from the lynches or night kills if it existed. We have had, what 6 night kills, three lynches and a couple of odd investigations that should have shown another team if it existed.
I think we are more likely to have one or two third parties that a whole other team.
Okay. So do you guys want to know about my item and help me speculate on what it does, or should I keep that silent and guess?
Your call, Drain Bead.
That is distinctly odd. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few possibilities:
- CatInASuit collected jpei’s berynium for some reason. [COLOR=“Green”]Mods: Is jpei’s berynium still there?
- The intelligence in my role PM is not completely reliable, and the incorrect role titles are meant to hint at this (it also described jpei as the Lead Miner instead of the Head Miner, which I thought was a trivial difference at the time). This leads me to wonder if either Gryff or Boozahol are not actually town. That would be pretty gastardly, but possibly the incorrect role titles hint just makes it evilish.
- Scum have the ability to play pass-the-parcel with the berynium, and there is still a Head Screamer out there (who I can no longer detect). It seems a bit unlikely they would pass it on to a power role, but maybe they went with a player they thought I wouldn’t investigate (I did earlier say, if Daphne is town, CatinASuit was likely to be as well). Mods: Can the scum pass the berynium around?
Partly by process of elimination (for example, Drain Bead’s play has not been consistent with a player trying to protect a role), and partly by trying to sort out what I thought of Daphne’s claim. I was taking the idea of two scum role-blockers seriously, as a counter to all the roles we have. As it turns out, they had two investigators. If Daphne was scum, I couldn’t see a better move than to block me night 2, preventing me from confirming Gryff. Meaning, Daphne was probably town. With that in mind, I dug out Cat’s post I’d flagged up earlier, where he’d analysed Jimmy’s posts and suggested that he’d inadvertently pointed out two townies (me and Daphne). This was prior to our claims. I took a punt on Cat because that was play consistent with a scum protecting a high-value role. It’s the kind of thing that townies couldn’t really take seriously, not knowing Cat’s alignment, but would have made him look very good once we’d both flipped, or us look bad if he flipped.
amrussel’s original case against Cat put him on the radar for me. Not much since then had really caught my, but I thought he was keeping a fairly low profile.
Maybe only one of them could investigate on a given night or something.
Or maybe CIAS was a weak investigator who became a full investigator when JC was killed? Much like Peeker and Thing Fish.?

@ Alka Have you been told you can no longer continue your pilfering or do you just assume there’s no more Berynium to find after Jpei?
Okay, not sure what I’m looking for, but now that we know about 3 scum and several Town, and can be reasonably confident about the Bling Brotherhood, I decided to color-code up the end-of-day votes plus the high-water marks for a few bandwagons to get a sense of voting patterns, if any:
Day 1 Final Vote
jpei (1): Freudian Slit
peekercpa(3): Gryph, Boozahol Squid, PI, Cold Phoenix (Scuba)
Drain Bead (2): USCDriver, CatInASuit
Bill MC(8): Jimmy Chitwood, Drain Bead, tiltawhirl, Alka Seltzer, Daphne Black, Allwalker, Texcat, jpei (Leader)
Boozahol Squid, PI(3): Bill MC, Thing Fish, Chronos
CatInASuit (2): amrussell, Tom Scud
Cold Phoenix (2): Oredigger, Guiri
Tom Scud(1): Peeker
Chronos(1): Normal Phase
Day 2 final vote:
Gryff(1):
Daphne(3): Gryff, Drain Bead, Chronos
Freudian Slit(4): AllWalker, Tiltawhirl, Tom Scud, peeker
Thing Fish(7): amrussell, Boozy Squid, CiaS, Normal Phase, Scuba Ben, Thing Fish, Guiri
Peeker (1): Alka Seltzer
Day 3 final vote:
Chronos(9): Oredigger, USCDiver, Tiltawhirl, Gryff, DaphneBlack, DB, CatInASuit, OaOW, Boozy Squid
Drain Bead(6) : Tom Scud, Normalphase, Alka(leader), Chronos, Scuba_Ben, GuiriEnEspana
No vote: AllWalker
Daphne Black high-water, day 2: Daphne(5): Gryff, Oneandonly, Chronos, Drain Bead, Tiltawhirl
jpei high-water mark, day 1: jpeg (5): OAoW, TxtKitty, Alkaseltzer, DaffyBlk, GuyinSpain (Tom Scud and AllWalker later voted as his vote was trending downwards)
peeker highwater mark: Pecear(6): Tom Scad, Jimminy Chitwick, Gruff, Nook (now Gueri), Ting Phish, Miner77
Drain highwater mark (so to speak): The Dread Bean (8): amrussett, Abnormal Phase, DaphkneeBlack, Freudian Skit, Fenix (scuba), tiltawhirl, UPSDriver
Only thing that immediately pops out is that we haven’t seen 2 now-known scum on any one wagon so far.
NETA: btw, highwater marks are not precise - I just did a who posted? search on pedescribe and took what looked to be the highest vote count from that. Might have missed a couple votes there.
NETA: also, apparently there were only 7 on the Drain Bead wagon, despite being marked as 8.
2 more things:
1: Look how full of townies the BillMC wagon was; of the last 5, 3 should have been painted blue (I forgot TexCat), one is near-confirmed Alka, and the other is AllWalker, who I think is likely town for reasons I mentioned in my wall. Interestingly, Alka is exactly where Jimmy’s Focus of Suspicion started on night 1. Could he have been covering for tiltawhirl?
The other thing is the three uncolored names hanging off the end of the peeker, cat, and ColdPhoenix wagons (including my own). I don’t think Scuba and Guiri are likely to both be scum (although they could have been fighting for show), but I wonder if one of them is.

Yes.

Try Mahaloth too, if you want to be sure you’re accurate. I think I remember the Drain Bead bandwagon, for one, topping out at ten, not eight. I was a bit invested in that, obviously. Though maybe my memory has failed me.
And as long as I’m here talking about Drain Bead – I was going to tack this into a post of odds and ends I’m digging out of the WoWs I’m doing, but here’s as good as anywhere:
I need to update my position on Drain Bead. I think she’s likely Town, for reasons very similar to those which had me conclude that peeker was not Scum. I can’t make her behavior, Chronos’ and Jimmy Chitwood’s add up into any sort of coherent Scum bussing strategy; and if that wasn’t the plan, then her objection to Chronos in the first place makes no sense.
And another thing: While I doubt they’ve avoided it completely, Scum have probably tried to avoid standing next to other scum. Drain Bead looks pretty good by that measure, as she’s standing next to a scum in every vote she appears in above.
NETA: above cross-posted with normal’s post, btw.
Also, on rechecking, the full Drain Bead high-water mark looks like:
The Dread Bean (8): amrussett, Abnormal Phase, Alka Celtser, DaphkneeBlack, Freudian Skip, Fenix, tiltawhirl, UPSDriver
A very Townie wagon.
Nice work town, especially Alka.
Hopefully we’re at least halfway through.
