Yes, but covering what? If she’s scum, what does she gain? If she were being attacked for making that assumption, then I could see a motive for saying that all the cool kids were doing it too. But she wasn’t. You’re accusing her of running from a charge no-one was making. I don’t see the motivation. I do see you paying a lot of attention to how people represent your posts, but not so much to finding scum.
Holy Crap! I’m trying my best to keep up, but I’m not doing a very good job of it. I’m happy where my vote is now. There were a couple of Drain’s posts a few pages back that had me raising my eyebrows again, but I don’t really have the time to go back and link them right now. I’m going to be out of town for the weekend, but since it’s Night that shouldn’t affect me too much. I anticipate catching up Sunday afternoon. I’m thinking about motivations on both sides for what CIAS did. If CIAS is scum, the vote seems like a late push of my bandwagon for a pretty weak reason that may end up drawing a lot of attention his way once I flip town. Not a smart play for scum. But if CIAS is Town, the thinking could have been “I know I’m town, and this person seems to be twisting my words around, and that’s scummy.” Fallacious reasoning, since as you said, I had nothing to gain by speaking in a generalization there, but I read a Townie motivation behind that vote as being somewhat more likely. After all, I took the same offense when you and AS and NP all said I was “reluctant” to claim Town, but I’m Town, and I’d hazard a bet that at least one of you is Town also.

I’m opposed to a counter-claim at this point. If Peeker has any flavour in his role PM to support his claim he should share it.

giving a title and/or specific powers does nothing but help scum. first, in that they get way too much info. second, it also helps them fake a claim.

i would also strongly counsel that any other power roles that may claim that they follow the same advice.
and i may not be able to get back on before day end and it still is a durn close thing. so if i swing look real close. because to lynch a claimed doc on Day one may very well be a first.

You claim that:

I already noted that you’ll likely be dead and your role revealed anyway before a scum roleclaims. Since you play this way, how about we vote for you until you reveal your title. This way, if you’re town, you’d be dead anyway with your role revealed, so the only pro-town choice would be to reveal yourself.

No, no, no. I think that peeker saying more than he has would serve no Town purpose. If he’s scum, he’ll just lie. If he is Town, I would actually think it’s more likely (just based on my past experience on this board) for Town to have two protective roles whose names and abilitiies differ slightly than to have two identical Docs; so if I am another protective role, having peeker’s info doesn’t help me evaluate the truth of his claim at all.

**Gueri **, why are you assuming that just because **jpei **has this power, it means he (she?) must be Town? If anything, this seems like a power that would be more suited to Scum. Moreover, since it is a one-shot power, the worst case scenario if he is Town is that we would lynch an effectively Vanilla Townie whose play hasn’t done much to help Town.
I am strongly considering changing my vote to jpei based on this, but it looks like there is (moan) no hurry, so I can take time to think about it.

Yes, why exactly have you extended the (already long) day?
I could see you doing it just to prove you have the power to avoid swinging, but that isn’t your justification, and actually participating with the game rather than lurking all this time would probably have been sufficient to manage that. In that case I would also expect you to only extended it a short while to prove the powers ability, rather than all weekend.
You have also used up a power that could have helped town towards the end game when a scum controlled leader could have caused us real problems.
Incidentally , this brings to mind a question
What happens if the leader is active, but just refuses to end the day until X happens. (i.e until vote goes his way, or other nefarious uses)
Even if, as appears likely, you are telling the truth this is still an anti-town action. I can’t see how this helps us?
Right **Gryff, **the pro-Town thing to do would have been to just post the role PM and see if that moved votes off him, actually using the power only if people didn’t believe him and he was still in danger, and then only to delay the end of Day briefly. But I guess you are also right that, under other circumstances, this power could have been useful to Town, so I will repress my overwhelming urge to vote **jpie ** and sign off for now.
I think the day’s been plenty long. I’m hoping the game will be easier to follow after a few deaths!
By easier to follow I mean because we may only crank out a couple of new pages a day. I know talk’s good but only if people have time to read it all!
I don’t think that a title claim helps scum too much but may potentailly help town a lot if you’re scum. Especially if we have a cop? I’m not so sure on my vote now that more experienced players have come and said that the roles may not be the same even for two doctors. But I’m learning not to trust what anyone says in this game…
To be honest I don’t have much experience with power roles. The only time I haven’t been vanilla town was when I got really excited to find out I was the seriel killer in the last game…

Jpei’s claim does explain the lack of voting from him. I can even understand the use of the power as we were getting quite close to day end, though I would have preferred a gap to see what people did before using the power. I am waiting for a mod confirmation that day end has moved before I unvote.
