I have to say this, the last and only* time I played with DaphneBlack - which was the Werewolf Split game - Daphne was loud, bold and original. And she was Town. Now she is quiet and far more bandwagony.
But I’m certainly not going to vote based on just that. Need time to reread and think…
*I’m pretty sure we were only in the one game together.
I mentioned the passage about JC’s team once in the original WoW. After that I was concentrating more on JC’s change of heart about peekercpa later on. Nice of you to get it wrong. You really look as though you are grasping around for a vote and it looks scummy.
Right. But it’s not much of a secret plan or something underhanded if I just come right out and say that I don’t think he’s scum so I’m not going to vote for him. I’ve kinda been putting myself on the line for peeker. People who don’t think peeker’s scum: am I scummy in my actions regarding peeker?
AllWalker, I wondered if someone from Split was going to come up with that. There’s again no reason to believe me, but I was not teaching at the time and had a lot more free time to devote to the game. That’s really it.
[meta-gamey]
Drain Bead, I think you are the only person here who’s been scum with me. In your honest assessment do you think I’ve been acting similarly to when we were scum in Blade Runner? (A long time ago now, I realise).
[/meta-gamey]
I’ve now had to spend most of my time today defending myself. This has not necessarily helped me in my hunt for scum. I’m not going to have time to vote until late this evening, or probably check back at all.
and boozy do what you think best regarding voting. it does make it tough when there are so few votes down. but maybe today being a workday and a holiday (not for me, however) more folks could check in.
Sorry I haven’t been around much over the last few days. I’ve been keeping up with the new posts, but haven’t reviewed all the players I’d like to.
Town has been slow out of the blocks toDay, I’m concerned that there are several players we haven’t heard from at all.
Thanks for the monster lists Chronos, very helpful.
Two players who were quietly pinging me on day 1 for similar reasons were Tom Scud and Daphne Black. In both cases, they were fairly active, but I didn’t feel their posts were very helpful to town. Tom has been a lot more useful today, but still isn’t being very committal (see post #1121).
I also got a strong townie read on Daphne watching that game (in fact, that was the game that introduced me to mafia).
That isn’t great defence, in this game you’ve avoided doing something that outed you as scum last time. For the record, I do accept your point about intending to vote Drain Bead before you did so. It was pretty clear from your posts who you were suspicious of (I pay more attention to stated suspicions than to actual votes). I can also relate to you having difficulty finding a decent case day 1, as I found myself in a similar position.
On Tom, his acceptance of Boozahol’s soft claim is not consistent with his idea that a 3rd party may be stealing the Bernyium. As Tom said himself:
@Tom – So why did you consider Boozahol to be confirmed town? With his talk of weak masonry and soft claim, he could easily be a scum in the possession of bernyium, hoping to buy town cred.
On the claims, I had a very specific reason for supporting OaOW’s soft claim, I thought he might be a Miller and that the scum might NK him if he did not reveal his role. (The Miller is something of a town outcast, so that might be why he can’t vote). With other claims on the table and with Tom already mentioning the possibility upthread, I now think he should make a full claim.
I didn’t expect OaOW’s soft claim to precipitate others. Chronos is correct that soft claims are anti-town. This is a closed setup, we can only judge claims on flavour and game balance. If Boozahol is town and dies tonight, we lose the information on what his powers are (assuming they are not obvious from the role title, like jpei and Gryff’s roles). This gives the scum more room in which to hide a fake claim, and gives them the opportunity to co-ordinate fake demonstrations of powers with scum team-mates. If Boozahol is scum, he has a clear motive for deferring his claim, especially in the light of his weak masonry idea. He can construct a more convincing claim when he knows more about the game setup. I made a mistake in not pushing Boozahol for a full claim on day 1.
Right now, I’m going to:
Vote Boozahol
On the assumption that he has soft-claimed for the scummy reasons I have outlined above. If Boozy is scum, this also makes the players eager to confirm him very suspicious. Also, until this is cleared up I have no reason to believe this:
If Boozahol is scum, he might be keeping the item in reserve.
I can’t help but feel that people are deciding I’m scummy and then finding facts to fit the case. I’ve got no ‘good defense’. I’m town, I’m on my own here, and I’ve played badly. I completely admit that. If you want to lynch me for bad play, I can’t say I blame you. It’ll be a mislynch. I can’t promise I will suddenly do better but I will try. I probably shouldn’t have agreed to play without having six hours free a day like in Split.
It’s interesting that on the one hand people say ‘when she was town she played differently’ and when I talk about how I played differently than now when I played scum then its ‘well that assumes you never change playstyle’. How can I possibly defend against that? Argh!
I’m screwed I guess. I have no more defenses to make, so I’m going to claim. I’m sure my claim will make no difference to anybody.
I’m the bartender, town role blocker/weak investigator. Last night I blocked Freudian Slit, who seems to have disappeared. If she would like to comment on if she got any indication of being blocked that would be nice.
I know that role-blocker could be be scum, but I doubt that the scum would have 1.25 investigators.
That’s all I got folks.
I’ve never played a town power role before, by the way, so that’s probably why I fucked this up. Sorry everybody!
@Daphne - The claim was very premature. Is there any flavour in your role PM to share? Why did you choose to block FS instead of investigating them? And why did you choose FS as a target?
Basically because I think Boozy’s been more pro-town in general in his play, and because I’ve been approaching this by way of Jimmy’s posts, and while he DID defend Boozy, it was in a much more oblique fashion.
That said, you’re right. Boozy, what’s in your magic bag?
Because the presence or absence of a scum roleblocker would be interesting for Town to know about; and scum would probably have roleblocked the claimed doctor, assuming he isn’t scum, or else whichever of the other claimed power roles happened to be town.
And yes, I see the double meaning to the question.
