I’m also in the UK. I think the real problem was that town was very slow to get votes and cases down at the beginning of teh Day, which left us in a rush at the end.
Interested to hear what Peeker has to say.

In #1460 Guiri lists the 14 claimed roles to date (including Dead players).
It’s worth thinking that in a few Days we may want to have a mass claim of all players and their exact role. I’ll start looking for a verifiable randomizer.
I do not presently support a mass claim on Day 3. But at the rate people are semi-claiming, we may get there anyway.
One note on Gueri’s list: the politician power could be the extra power claimed by either Boozy or Alka; it seems at least plausible for either of their roles (though not consistent with Boozy’s claim of an unsuccessful Night 1 action).
Strange data point I just noticed looking over the voting: there was zero overlap between Thing Fish voters and BillMC voters.
NETA: even counting myself as a Thing Fish voter and peeker as BillMC.
And now that I’ve mentioned that, here’s three lists:
People who helped lynch BillMC: (including unvoters)
peeker
(Jimmy Chitwood)
Drain Bead
tiltawhirl
Alka Seltzer
Daphne Black
Allwalker
(Texcat)
(jpei)
People who helped lynch Thing Fish: (including unvoters)
amrussell
Tom Scud
Boozy Squid
CiaS
Normal Phase
Scuba Ben
Guiri
People on neither wagon:
Chronos
One and Only
Gryph
Oredigger77
USCDiver
Freudian Slit
with the epic lurkers off on their own there.
That is very, very curious although difficult to interpret. My argument would be that **BillMC **did nothing, bar a weird vote for Boozy, to merit a vote except be absent and, eh, do nothing.
Thing Fish did give a number of us reasons to vote beyond inactivity, they may have been unfounded or in hindsight somewhat weak, but at least I felt there was a case against him.
Now, a **BillMC **voter might say just the opposite - that the **Boozy **vote was the scummiest thing ever while **Thing Fish **was just misunderstood…
And the 3 who voted for neither could either be scum distancing themselves from the lynch or very astute players who saw holes in the accusations…
Nice analysis though!
On a separate note, (and risking all the backlash) I can’t see how a mass claim would be any different to a mass declaration of alignment (which got us nowhere).
That is somewhat odd… With two bandwagons that size, you’d expect at least some overlap between them. Then again, even if the Scum deliberately engineered that for some reason, they wouldn’t have had any control over what Townies did, and there have to be at least some Townies on both lists. So I’m inclined to think it’s just coincidence, unless someone can come up with an actual explanation.
Yeah. I’ve been grabbing data for a late-Night post (figuring I would try to present some slightly more finished data than my previous ultra-spammy post-whatever-i-notice-immediately approach), but that piece was weird enough that I felt like sharing it, though not because I thought it meant much of anything.
The point of the alignment claim was specifically in case of a lie detector. Low probability of helping, but if it does help it could make a big difference.
The plus side of a mass claim would be pre-empting claims by scum late in the turn. (And contrariwise, avoiding the situation where a late claim is disbelieved because of its possible scummy origin).
The minus side at this point, which to me outweighs the potential good, is that I suspect there is still another investigative role out there, probably somewhat modified and probably weakened compared to a standard-issue cop, at least to judge from the power roles revealed so far. I think we need to give this posited investigator time to do his or her work.
Actually, it occurs to me that the list for Thing Fish is (or might be) incomplete: He also effectively got a vote from the vote-buyer, whomever that is, who might or might not be one of the people who voted for him directly.
ok, and now that i got some confirmation.
what i still don’t understand is why i was blocked last Night. i mean, seriously, why block a doc if you aren’t going to kill them. i mean unless there is some juicy target out there that you don’t even want to take a small chance of not being able to kill. and i give fishy full credit for the following characterization. the mouth breathers of this game almost had an apopolectic fit when i went down this road earlier.
i attempted to leave but my door was blocked somehow. that reads just like a normal role blocker. not that i got to so and so’s door and couldn’t get in. but who knows how pede set this up.
ok, i attempted to visit boozy Night one. yasee i had to find the insane survivalist or witness a screamer killing to become fully functional. hence, all the As, the insane references and even the survive reference. my first choice was fishy but i kind of second guessed because of his early comment about me being nuts and he’d want to talk to me after the game about why i did what i did. but when fishy claimed i didn’t put two and two together quick enought to be able to confirm his claim. of course the mouth breathers that were still clamoring around me probably wouldn’t have been convinced anyways.
so because i was a medic and couldn’t do shit until i either sat with someone visited by a screamer or found the insane survivalist i figured what the fuck. let’s draw attention to me and let the other “real” town power roles do their things. i kind of didn’t expect fishy to also be protective hence my delay in putting it all together. but now i don’t know. maybe there never was a full blown doc, just a bunch of kind ofs. same with our funky bartender. sounds like a back up cop with a full blown out there. but now not so sure. maybe it’s just mulitples of parts.
back in a sec.
so anyways when fishy flipped i was like oh fuck me.
but lo and behold i get the following pm from pede
After toDay…
Good news (actually great news for town)! During the search of Thing Fish’s, otherwise know as fishy’s, home, you found a variety of manuals, and some well worn masturbatory aids, on how to treat severe flesh wounds (watch out for that vacuum cleaner). You are now a fully fledged doctor, capable of protecting yourself or others from any type of attack (except from the martians - that’s a whole nother story)!
end of pede’s pm
so i guess to some extent i exaggerated what i could do. but i believe in the potential of all mankind so blah blah blah. but now its true.
oh and for the non town mouth breathers, yasee where it says i can now protect myself.
i would strongly suggest that our town investigators get busy tonight. if you haven’t already looked at tom, chronos, allwalker and amrussell those are the folks you need to peek (get it) at. heck, probably add boozy in the mix as well.
and for fucks sake if i did in fact get blocked by a random town element last night, fcs don’t do it again. i mean i don’t know if scum have a role blocker or not, wouldn’t be surprised, but make them use it all on me so that our little sherlocks can go about their business freely.
neta: when chronos pops back in with some meaningless drivel can we please ignore it and just get around to lynching him tomorrow.
and the next leader that votes in such a non town fashion can we just fracking lynch them as well.
Y’know, I think I’ve finally figured out peeker’s playstyle. It’s the Vizzini method: He throws around random things with nonsensical logic, not because he believes the logic himself, but because he wants to see peoples’ reactions to it. Then, based on those reactions, he makes his real decisions, with the reason disguised by more pseudo-logic.
So now that that’s out of the way, peeker, let’s cut to the chase: Did I pass or fail the test?
A strange game… the only way to win is not to play.
<oog>
Just a note that I have lost internet access at home, engineer not due until tuesday. So I can follow at work, but I won’t be around much at all, and not this weekend.
Of course, knowing my provider I’ll be back on this evening with no reason
</oog>
actually that was quantom.
@ Peeker Your posts and play style both amuse and intrigue me but I doubt I’m the only one who finds them a little hard to follow.
What message did Thing Fish try to give you on Day 1? From your posts it seems he breadcrumbed that he was also a Doc and may have been your much sought after crazy survivalist but you didn’t pick up on his hint initially and attempted to visit Boozy instead. Apart from his reasoning on why a Doc shouldn’t be lynched on Day 1, I couldn’t see anything else. What did he say?
Then, when he made his partial claim you sent us (or just him?) looking for references to insane (or insance), survival or otherwise but, with little help from the search function, the only references were made by you or in reference to you. Clearly you were fishing for your master but Fish didn’t bite (sorry!).
So, did you realise Thing Fish was the insane one before or after his final claim? From your later posts it appears you had figured it out but I can’t be sure when that happened.
@ Peeker, please ignore my last post. I think I found answers to all my questions here (snipped):
OK, so he said you were nuts. When? You said he was nuts in #804, already Night 1, but when did he say you were nuts?
Which claim, the first or second? After the first claim you sent us all looking for “insane” references so you must have had a pretty good feeling or were just getting a bit nervous.
