I don’t think we need the mod’s permission to have the leader say “If I could vote provisionally I would vote Scummy McScum”.
One other note on leaders, which I mentioned before but want to stress, is that we shouldn’t elect a talented shit-stirrer leader, because we want them mixing it up and casting votes. Thus I don’t want peeker or Boozahol as leader 'cause it might crimp their style.
You guys are probably right about the odds of a Jester, so ok: if you’re a Miller, pick a good (early) time and claim and let us get rid of you as is right and proper. And hopefully there is none, because the role stinks.
Anyone else having trouble with the site? I’ve gotten hung up trying to post several times in the last half hour.
i have very little in common with that slimy piece of calamari. except that i have never know either of us to, as you put it, “shit stir”. squiddly has been known to monkey fling poo from time to time, however.
OK - can everyone who wants to be considered for leader please say so? And conversely, everyone who doesn’t let us know before you get nominated by someone else?
The only power role that really needs to breadcrumb is a cop, in the offchance that they die, that their investigations could be lost. That player should perhaps be a little wary about FOSing or snuggling players after Day One without good cause.
And just to weigh in once more on the Governor issue, any player who becomes confirmed via cop or masonry or whatever should really be given strong consideration as governor in the future, regardless of time zone or experience: the governor’s going to lack the same sort of voting record that we can expect of every other player, just because their vote does cause the countdown.
I don’t particularly want the leader position, but if elected I should be able to start the timer next Thursday afternoon or whatever other weekday time people think is appropriate.
oh and since apparantly we are live. vote squiddly
he really does make the most sense from presence, experience and level headedness standpoint.
and i don’t think anyone need worry about his tenacity to get around any percieved limitations that being the leader would have on his ability to stir the shit (not that he has ever done that).
I believe Leader voting is expected to be in bold blue like all other voting. Any vote placed in the first 24hrs will likely be assumed by the mods to be a Leader vote. Hence someone upthread suggested using the term ‘Elect’ instead of ‘Vote’ to ensure your meaning is clear.
And since he has said he would be able to start the clock at a reasonable time for us Americans notwithstanding his antipodean ways, I will go with my first instinct and vote to
Another thing I’ve noticed about Tom Scud is that he comes up with ideas independently and is not easily led. I definitely think he’d be the best choice.
It’s actually a great idea, as a Miller, to claim that on the first day so we can lynch you. I know it sucks, but otherwise you may end up causing a mislynch later in the game (which you most certainly will), but you’ll also waste a cop-investigation that could be used confirming a townie or outing a real scum.
That being said, give us a few days to ramble and harangue each other before giving yourself up. There’s a lot of information that comes out on Day One (even if it rarely actually leads to a scumlynch).
When have I ever flung poo? You hurt me, peeker!

Shall we think a bit about what a Scum leader might be able to do?
The tie-breaker seems a big one, but it’s also fairly easy to prevent it coming down to that any time soon, or at least it should be. There’s the possibility a Scum leader might cut the day unreasonably short (but that should be cause for immediate investigation at least) or let it drag out unreasonably long if it’s Scum that are currently in trouble (which may be harder to judge). Certainly we need to treat the point at which the leader begins the countdown as a data point like any other: who is in trouble at that point, and who seems safe?
Also, like I believe someone pointed out earlier, a leader is shielded from much of the requirement to make themselves accountable for their votes, as they can vote only once, may well be pressured to cast a semi-random vote if they have no strong candidate, just to get things moving (or could feign being so pressured), and can’t ever change their vote afterwards, no matter what comes up.
Kind of an interesting position. Maybe a little stronger for Scum to possess than it appears on its face.
