Scrubs 4/25 Robert "The Todd" emailed me to watch this one.

Good episode. There’s just not another show that can be so damn foolish and also heartbreaking and pull them both off so well.

I loved it when Elliott says, “and I let you watch me try on bras in the changing room.” He’s “gay” for about 3 hours and she’s letting him watch her change.

“not as good as you looked in the shower this morning. . .dong-wise.”

I have to say that I’m surprised they killed off Jill Tracy so quickly. Not only was it surprising, but they went from “she’s in the hospital” to “start handing out her organs” without even a death scene or anything.

Any recurring patients that have actually survived? Anyone?

-Joe

Don’t they test for diseases and such before they transplant organs? I would think the fact they initially thought she died of a cocaine overdose would have meant her organs were useless for transplant.

I’ve missed some episodes…when did Cox become an alcoholic? I’d like to know more about his father, hinted at in the 8:30p episode, when his sister comes for Jack’s baptism. I wonder if he hauls off and hits Jack in a drunken rage, horrifying him since it’s what his father did.

I think the last bit, about the patient not needing an immediate kidney transplant, that he could have waited another month, was especially poingnant. Underscores Cox’s need to be a hero. (Ties in with Todd looking at an Action Hero book?)

I’m sorry, I find Todd plain annoying. No way in hell he would ever get away with his constant sexual comments in the real workplace.

Yeah. The hypochondriac played by Richard Kind who winds up suing Turk for malpractice is alive and well. They haven’t had that many recurring patients who stick around for more than a couple of episodes, those that do usually don’t have anything serious happen, which is why Jill actually dying was a surprise. I was actually thinking they were setting her up as a love interest for JD.

Rabies is just not one of the things you test for. JD was almsot spot on when he said there is about three reported cases a year. And I’m not sure about a cocaine overdose and how it might affect their organs. But remember it wasn’t actually an overdose, she just had some in her system. And cocaine might be able to be “flushed out” of the organs.

You mean on his Garden State blog? Because I thought I’d heard (at a later time than the last post there) that Scrubs got picked up for another season…

Honestly I don’t know. I hear these things from my sister who’s a big Braff fan so all I know is it’s from his blog, if that means the Garden State one or not.

If it HAS been picked up for another season, great! I think season 5 has been better than 3 & 4 were.

One 5 minute net search later, from the Garden State blog: “As far as the 6th season of Scrubs? Who knows. It’s all up in the air right now.”

That’s the latest entry.

Bill Lawrence, the creator, said he is about 100% sure it’s coming back, either on NBC or possibly ABC.

My wife and I nearly died when the Todd “moved down” and jiggled his face in Eliott and Carla’s boobs.

Yeah – that’s what I saw, too. But in articles dated later than that (including this one from April 10th), it seems that a 6th season is all but a certainty (as Mahaloth said, but I thought I’d give a link).

As a fan since the beginning, I’m glad Scrubs is still flourishing. But somebody needs to sit Zach Braff down and tell him the man-boy schtick (“eeeagle!”) isn’t working. This season he seems to be using his Chicken Little voice 90% of the time. Fortunately, he toned it down for last night’s more serious moments.

Yeah, I liked that one, too. She (and the rest of the cast) sings part of the Colin Hay song, “Waiting For My Real Life To Begin” – which is a really cool song, BTW.

Another one of those “whoa” moments, which I thought was really well-done, was the one earlier this season – when that lady who was everybody’s favorite patient had just gotten well and was being released. And the intern who kept messing up was leaving, and he shook her hand on the way out. And they did the graphic that was established earlier in the episode, about how easy it was to spread infection in the hospital – with the green tinge covering his hands (after he picked up and discarded a syringe or something), passing it to her. That and the music coinciding with the scene. Perfectly done.

Yeah, but the man-boy thing does kind of define the character. The “eeeeagle!” thing, as you probably know, is a reference to J.D. being given airplane rides by Jordan’s brother…which, come to think of it, was the last time that Cox really snapped.

Maybe something to let us know what’s coming? Nah…

At least Cox hasn’t forced a woman to smother anything, yet.

-Joe

and wasn’t it JD who helped him thru that denial?

Actually, this very closely mirrors an actual case or two.

He was there for the big reveal…I really don’t think anyone helped him through it. Except a camera-less Ben Sullivan.

-Joe

Damn… and they say Law & Order is ripped from the headlines!

Wow. My wife and I swore up and down that there is no way that that could have happened. I thought that all cases of rabies showed obvious signs. However:

From here.

I also felt they killed off one of the most commonly recurring patients a little quickly and without enough fanfare.

She should have died suddenly at the cliimax of whole episode.

I really liked this episode. The Todd was hysterical, though somehow, it’s more jarring to hear demeaning innuendo directed at men, I suppose because I’m so unused to it.

I thought they handled the tough parts of this episode really well, though Scrubs always does a great job with that. Dr. Cox was perfect-- his ego makes it that much harder when he falls.
