Yeah I really couldn’t have gone wrong setting a roster there, everyone did well. Well, except I never get any production out of kickers no matter what I do. And Adrian Peterson went out in the 2nd quarter - if he was around he could’ve had the 15 points that Gerheart got. And I meant to start Dreessen over Miller and I’m not sure why I didn’t. I think I could’ve topped 180 had everything gone right.
In the auction league, where I also have Hillis/Bowe/Rodgers, I set the league record for scoring by 10 points… despite a shutout on my kicker.
I didn’t set this league’s record - we’ve had two 165 point performances.
Fortunately for me, Kelly’s has to rely on opposing players (Larry Fitzergerald and the 49ers DEF) to score 25 points. So a big night for Fitz should mean a bad night for the niners D and vice versa. Johnson putting up one of the worst games in his career helped me a ton.
It was also nice to finally free myself from the TE drama by sitting San Diego completely and starting Boss.
That appears to have been the worst of all possible scenarios. Only five points out of Gore and he goes down for the season. That, in the parlance of the vernacular, is a motherfucker.
Since we have a 3 week playoff bracket, this is the last week of the regular season. Highest 2 seeds get to sit out week 14 on a bye while 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. Ol’ Gaffer, Frosted Glass, and I have spots locked up. Fighting for the last 3 slots are up for grabs by Ellis Dee, Omni, Petey, and Chitwood.
Technically Retrovertigo and Tazmanian Devils are still in the race, but they’d have to outscore one of the top guys by a pretty huge margin.
The main 4 are all tied at 6-6, and they play each other, so that should be pretty dramatic. Chitwood plays Omni and Ellis Dee plays Petey. The winners will advance, along with one of the losers with the highest total score.
If Chitwood and Isotopes were to lose, the last playoff spot would go to the guy who scored the most points this season… and their total scores as of right now are within 1 point.
Whoever gets in would also get the NFC West Participation Award, going the playoffs with a losing record.
Yeah, the playoff bracket finished as listed in the post above. Ol’Gaffer and I get the week off to sip some Mai Tais in Cancun. Frosted Glass faces Petey and Ellis Dee Faces Omni.
Those of you who aren’t in the playoff race - go ahead and keep updating your rosters with your best starters from week to week. I’m always interested to see how the league would’ve turned out if we were playing a pure points league - and while normally the league page doesn’t update scoring past the last week of the regular season, the tool Ellis Dee wrote will still track it. So I plan to track scores up through week 16, and week 17 if it’s possible, to see what the results would’ve been if we’d have played a pure points league.
Normally during the playoffs teams that aren’t in them will stop picking up players… but I think knowing how a pure points league would turn out is an interesting side competition… so if you aren’t in the playoffs but you need someone to replace someone on your roster, go ahead and pick them up. Any problems with that?
Ok, so there’s a chance the Giants/Vikings game could be cancelled. I don’t know how they resolve this in fantasy - does everyone get a 0? Are the fantasy results incomplete until the game actually occurs?
In the HHM league, Ellis Dee offered everyone the chance to make conditional roster changes that would be retroactively enforced. Like “if the game is cancelled, start Jacoby ford in Nicks’ spot”.
So if the Giants/Vikes players just put up zeros this week, I will honor any conditional requests like that. Just tell me who you would’ve started instead of your Vikes/Giants players. This can include free agents - if you’re the first one to post that you want them, you get dibs.
I’m not sure if this is the best way to handle this situation because I’m not sure exactly how yahoo handles it, but we don’t have much time and declaring intentions and figuring it out later seems like the way to go.
In my playoff matchup, both Omni and I have exactly one Giant/Viking on our starting rosters right now: I have Hakeem Nicks, Omni has Sydney Rice.
If the game is cancelled, I’m fine with both of us taking a 0 and calling it a day. Alternately, If Omni wants to post a conditional start, I want Donald Driver in place of Nicks. (I just picked up Driver from the FA pool for exactly this purpose.)
This is kinda silly since I’m not playing anyone this week, but for the sake of the total points competition, I’d start Tolbert over Peterson.
If the nfl/yahoo figures out how to resolve this game within the fantasy week (like if the game gets played on Tuesday, we’ll just roll with how they choose to do it. These conditionals would only take action if the game is zeroed out.
Ok, NFL.com is saying the game will be moved to Detroit (really, you fucking pussies - play outdoors at University of Minnesota at least) on Monday, so don’t worry about conditionals and set your rosters normally.
The only player I was going to start was Harvin but he’s out anyway so no big for me. Kind of sad that this is the first Monday night game in Detroit in a decade. They did just mention playing at the university of Minnesota but apparently it takes a week to prep the stadium. This is going to be a great football day. The weather is going crazy in most places.
