But I still think it’s inadequate for measuring intelligence comprehensively enough to establish any genetic correlation between its results and the group of people in a cultural or socioeconomic situation far deviated from the majority of the more affluent population used as a basis for the test’s base level (100).

I probably did Guthrie a great disservice by throwing him into this muddle, but for anyone actually capable of higher levels of thought about this issue, this is a great book about the history of bias in IQ testing. That book again, Even The Rat Was White . It was required reading when I taught testing, very well-written and documented. Amazing that a darkie was capable of such a feat, maybe he had a white ghost-writer:)
