Then again, I just say let all Charter Members pick their own titles. Anyone who pays to be here obviously wants to be here, so just make picking an inappropriate user title punishable along the same lines as posting something inappropriate. Passive approval would work fine, IMO. If a mod sees something they don’t like, they should change it and disallow that user from choosing a custom title.
