SDMB Book of Records?

Was **Mr. Blue Sky ** wrong to ask?
No, as seen by the links, there were many prior discussions of this same material, just not recent enough to recall.

Saying barflyer’s research is pathetic is just rude.
We have half of the GQ filled with just such research.

I just wish some of the more imponderables were here, like **Who’s name is quoted most in the following posts?
Are there any posters who have run 24 hours (or more) consecutively?
Have users ever actually met each other, married, and had little dopers?
Do blondes have more fun?

**etc.

Wow! Great replies, everyone. I’m a trivia nut and was curious about the nuts and bolts of this board. You can’t be a triviot and not wonder about something this big. I’m still curious about thread-killers, though. I’m guessing thi would be very difficult to track, however. I know I’ve killed a few.

What I want to know is what’s the best time to read?

Is it busier on certain days?

Is it busier at certain times?

As a major writer once said, it takes the number of words it takes. The point of a post is to be clear, literate, and informative – expressing well-founded opinion or reporting a fact useful to the topic at hand. Wit is welcomed, and can sometimes substitute for one or more characteristic.

Sometimes you can make your point in one line or so. Like this paragraph.

And sometimes it takes a multi-paragraph short essay to make clear what exactly you’re trying to say in full. Sort of like this post as an entirety.

Note, I don’t post drunk. This may be because 1. I don’t drink alcohol that early 2. I don’t think that I have been drunk but pretty tipsy hee heee hahaha if you know what I mean.

I don’t think that what you found was a “bad stat,” it was just a stat that you do not understand.* This post just goes to show you–statistics without context are meaningless.

barflyer, your enthusiasm is admirable, but I’d like to suggest that you learn a little more about how the boards work before you appoint yourself “board statistician.”

  • [sup]My guess, and this is only a guess, is that jkeene is a tech person of some sort, and has not posted since May, 2000. On what do I base my guesses? First of all, this person has a registration date that is earlier than March, 1999, when the “new” SDMB went on line. Second, I’m guessing that the “last post” data was not carried over in the software switcheroo in May.[/sup]

So you’re saying even though the data is inconsistant it’s not wrong?

Is your name IRL, by any chance Bill Gates?

I tried a “partial name” search and found no hits, so I’d guess the other item is the one in error, the 3.
Based on other boards, some software doesn’t subtract deleted threads from all who posted on them. That’s probably what happened here, that 3 were posted as tests, all deleted, but the number was not updated (i.e., is now wrong).

Omigod! You found me out! Can I buy your silence with a beta edition of Windows 2002?

You may be right about the deleted/test posts, btw. Hopefully Tuba will come on in here to give us the straight dope on this jkeene character.

Here’s the profile data supplied
Occupation: Ever changing
Location: Chicago, IL, USA
Interests: Numerous
The email address for jkeene is jkeene@chicagoreader.com

Neither name or address are still on the Reader staff page
http://www.chireader.com/readerinc/staff.html

So I’m guessing it’s someone no longer with the paper.

**Green Bean **has supplied us with another statistic, it turns out **And The King Of The Molosters is…

(Follow the link to see what this is exactly, as it’s hard to explain.)

Yes.
If you check the stats on “blonde” posters vs. “blond” posters, you’ll see twice as much fun in their Permanent Records.
