SDMB Book of Records?

I read the exhaustive per-day posting frequency chart and am wondering about the following records:

Most posts in a (1 day, week, month) period.
Highest/lowest views-to-replies ratio.
Most posts to tank (that is, no replies) by a single poster.
Most post killed (that is, the poster is the last to reply) by a poster.
Fastest locked thread.
There you have it, statistics freaks, a challenge!

IIRC, Lynn Bodoni locked one of Michael Mastersons incarnations threads, and banned the sockpuppet in 3 minutes.

Quickest I’ve seen.

Here’s one of your numbers I’m in an exclusive club. Nobody’s in it with me, I’ll bet.

Oh, I forgot to add, besides 50 in one calendar day, I finished 100 in the first 24 hours, when Letterman finished.
What can I say, I was in love (or drunk? I get those two confused a lot;) )

There have been a number of threads locked after the first post. If the mod doesn’t add a post you can’t tell how long it took, but I’m sure some were in the 1-2 minute range.

The fastest “recovery” time for a troll is also usually in the 1-2 minute range, since they have spare names in the other barrel, as it were. Mark Serlin, X-files, Parrot, Oat Willie, Concrete were all in those sorts of “shooting contests”. The latest was R_dawg, R_dawg5, R_dawg6, and R_dawg7, the race-baiter troll(s).

That category of yours for “Highest/lowest views-to-replies ratio” can only be calculated by thread, not poster, and was proved an irrelevant number here:
Greatest ratio of posts to views

And if you’re into numbers, here’s another couple of threads for you:

What’s your P.Q. (Pit Quotient)?

I think “most posts to go unanswered” is probably Handy. Not only does he have by far the most posts, and new topics, but he also posts drunk, resulting in threads that mainly say “Boy am I drunk”

Care to substantiate that unfounded allegation, barflyer?

 Let’s see. What other Statistics have been reported?

The shortest name on the board was " ", a single blank, but they made him change it to “Formerly Known As Blank”.
Others in that same contest were barred from posting, notably “.” and “?”. “y” was reported barred recently, but I think there’s another uni-initialed-one still posting.

The longest name is a tie. The first was The Longest Names Are Twentyfive

Which item are you referring to?
If Handy, I just checked him against the word drunk and got 430 hits. I was pretty sure he just said something about it this week. If I’m wrong, I’m sorry.

Sorry, that name link should have been Some names are twentyfive

Other recent stats.
The lowest usernumber is 2 for Lynn Bodoni. #1 is unused, was probably a sample or test name.

The first SDMB Thread shows how numbers can be deceiving.

It just doesn’t seem very nice to assume someone is posting drunk just because his name and the word drunk coincide 430 times.

For your information: a vB search on a name and a word simultaneously gives you, in this case, threads with the word “drunk” in them, AND one of more posts by handy in them. Note that this does NOT imply that handy used the word drunk in such a hit. Could be, but chances are it’s someone else.

I’m not saying handy, or anyone else for that matter, has never posted drunk. But I am saying that remarks like “he usually posts drunk” are a definite no-no, especially in this forum.

I somehow mis-remembered the name of someone who just bragged about posting drunk a lot, but it WAS NOT HANDY.

I can’t locate it now. I’m so sorry.

(Not that drinking is a crime. I’m a pretty heavy hitter myself.)

Maybe you should edit Handy’s name out of this thread.
I’d hate for him to be embarassed by my blunder.

I think “most posts to go unanswered” would have to go to one of the trolls mentioned above. If a thread is locked unanswered, and the poster banned, that would give him a “perfect” average of Zero responses for All his posts. At least under that name.

The first name registered at length 25 may be this one.

(Nothing like this find to frustrate stat-finders.
Now I know a little of what the Guiness brothers had to sweat out for their record book.)

You know what really matters? The content of a post.

The rest is just what happens in the course of doing business and anybody that would major in all of that instead of making meaningful postings is truly pathetic.

Content is important, yes, but being able to say it all in as few words as possible is even better.
