When do we get our people?
Damn it! How did I miss this thread?
Will there be another swap? I’d love to participate!
Sheri
I was too busy this weekend to do the matches, so consider this still open if you wish to participate.
This also means I may not get people’s matches out until after Wednesday. Sorry about that. It’s been a little crazy around here!
A bump, with an update.
I think we’ve got about 44 Dopers participating. I haven’t done the matches yet, but plan to do that tomorrow.
Sorry for the delay. It’s been a bit more chaotic in the Life of Cranky than I’d planned on.
Good, I thought for a second my e-mail didn’t get through. I’ve already got my books picked out, and if I could afford it someone would be getting around 300+ books that I just don’t want any more.
For a clutching moment, I thought that I’d deleted the message - thinking it was spam, or something.
I’m really glad that it’s just not been sent, yet.
All right. I’ve got the matches made, thanks to some help from some coworkers. We didn’t match too carefully, just tried to avoid mismatches so someone who loves Stephen King wasn’t given to someone who loathed horror. That sort of thing.
I’ve mailed out about half the notices to you folks. In other words, 25 of you know who your people are --or you WILL, if you check your inboxes. The rest will go out tomorrow.
Mail out your books in a timely fashion, as I am chomping at the bit to hear what people got and sent. Remember that inthe U.S. you can send things Media Mail for a lot cheaper, although it does take a wee bit longer. Don’t forget to enclose a note explaining why you liked the book and/or why you chose to send it on.
Shirley Ujest, your email bounced! Naughty! If I don’t hear from you, I’ll mail your person’s info to you. I s’pose you’re worth a stamp. of course, if you’d drive to Ann Arbor this Saturday for our mini-dopefest, I could HAND the name to you!
Okay, I just sent the last match out. If you didn’t get one, contact me. It’s possible I missed someone but I don’t think so.
44 Dopers from all over the U.S., plus a few from Canada and Great Britain. Books should be flyin.
I got my e-mail, and I’ll put something in the mail to Baker on Monday after work. I hope it’s okay for me to send more than one book, because I just couldn’t decide!
I got my mail! I’ve got one book picked out for sure (it’s funny, even if it is a little strange), and a couple more I can’t really decide between. They’re just paperbacks, so maybe they’re small enough to send all three.
I am hitting the best used bookstore in explored space Monday night. So hopefully I will have something for Bristlesage by Tues.
So many books, so little time!
Is everyone sending more than one?
I have one picked out, but I could send two if that’s the norm.
I will probably send more than one, just because I am indecisive. However, remember that if you send too many books, you may overwhelm your recipient. Don’t go too nuts. And if you send just one, don’t feel that you are somehow “skimping.” One good book is plenty to pass on to share a discussion of in a few weeks once it gets read!
I’m sending my book out today. I wanted whoever has me to know that I’m going to be out of town for a couple weeks. I’m a fast reader, though, so I’m sure I’ll be done with my book by mid- April. I’m looking forward to getting my new book (and the feedback on the one I sent to Morgainelf!).
Jess
Krisfer, your book is on its merry way!
YAHOO!
oh sure add to the congestion around here:D
Lookin forward to reading it!
I sent my book (to cjhoworth) last Friday.
Bibliocat,
I get paid on Tuesday, so I’ll send your package on Wednesday. Hope you enjoy it!

My email bounced? What’s next, my checks?
