Link to it, I only see them offering one list. I assumed it was a start of the year list based on the positions, but maybe I’m wrong. We might be looking at the same list.
Where did you see Rodgers at 11 and Watson at 12? The difference between your statement and the actual rankings isn’t much, admittedly, except one is factually incorrect and the other isn’t. We can have a difference of opinion on the relative value of one player over another. For example, Aaron Rodgers will have more top 6 fantasy finishes from 2021 forward to the end of time than Mac Jones will, and that makes him more valuable regardless of age. That’s my opinion. But you have made a couple objectively, provably false statements regarding this trade. If this trade is actually put to a league vote, it is important that factual information is used to evaluate it.
You said DynastyPros not Fantasy Pros.
Okay, my mistake on the name. I did say it was the consensus ranking of experts, though. Whatever that site you linked is, is not.
If you want to parse language, I wouldn’t call the votes of the unwashed masses on KTC a “consensus ranking of experts” either.
Which is why I never did. The point was to illustrate that among the crowd, and among the experts, the valuation presented here on Rodgers vs. Jones or Watson was off the mark. Those sources still confirm this, whether I accidentally missed one word on the website or not.
As to the point that it’s impossible to rebuild a bad team in dynasty, take a look at my team which has been on a steady rebuild and I made it to the finals last season.
I did find I had more time to devote to fantasy especially since I quit playing so many leagues in all sports, so that helped. And there’s been some dumb luck, but that always happens.
I don’t like the idea of vetoing trades, but that said, I think some people aren’t looking at all the non-stat things happening in this trade.
Personally, I think Watson will never play another down in the NFL. And that’s not an uncommon opinion. I’m guessing it’s what Overly thinks even if Jules might not agree. Also, Mac Jones is playing well now, but I think I’d jump at the chance to replace him with Rodgers. Even now, even knowing he only has a max of three years left.
Basically, it’s not a great trade, and I wouldn’t have done it, but I think vetoing it is too extreme.
“Everyone” = the two websites I cherry picked. Fantasy Pros gives Rodgers a trade value of 13, while Watson has 17 and Mac Jones has 10. Thescore has Rodgers at 12, Watson at 16, Mac at 7. Sportsgamblingpodcast: Rodgers 14, Watson 15. Jones 12. Those were the first three google results I got.
I think it’s more than fair to say that Rodgers for Watson and Jones is fair. Roughly same value, you get high upside Watson, upside with Jones, and you give up a rock solid starter. No issue with that trade.
But then you give up a guy who would have to buck a long history to ever be relevant again in fantasy football, and a couple never fantasy-starters for George Kittle and Antonio Brown. That’s a heckuva get. For you.
But the issue isn’t just the take on the trade in the abstract. Kudos to you for a fine fleece job. The issue is having an owner who isn’t going to be in the league anymore trading away valuable assets for 8 weeks of owning a nice stack of players he likes.
Coincidentally, you did this by “losing” multiple trades with me. Quite an example, I’d say.
Maybe I don’t understand “trade value” in this context, but can you elaborate on your logic where this 2 for 1 makes sense based on these numbers?
Also, you joined up alongside Ol Gaffer (The Great Old Ones), who is making a run this year after being middle of the pack for three years.
I googled “dynasty trade calculator” and looked for the first free one not already mentioned in the thread. They say it was updated October 7th.
Adding in all eight players (some multiple times to get their proper value instead of 0) it shows Jules winning the trade by a point total of 1788 to 1508. I don’t know if that rises to the level of intervention.
Dynasty101 disagrees. Like Overly, they would trade away Mac Jones to get Aaron Rodgers straight up and call that a win. Not to say either of you are right or wrong but rather that it’s what I would characterize as a “coach’s call.”
I could see Rodgers being elite for 3 more years. No problem whatsoever envisioning that. Even more elite if he switches teams, like he follows Peyton’s example and goes to Denver.
So I think of it as, do I see Mac Jones being a top 12 QB in four years, for another bunch of years after that? If not top 12 he’s not a starter and I’d rather have three years of elite Rodgers than a perennial backup. Think Baker Mayfield.
Overall, I see the trade as favoring Jules but not to the level of unbalanced. A hypothetical new owner next year should have at least a couple years to find a new young QB.
Full disclosure, I’m down on Kittle, and I think Watson is done. But of course I also think Akers is done.
It was actually Ol’Gaffer that joined the league with you, not JB, and one of the rosters you guys split was the championship roster that year. Varlos didn’t quit because his roster was bad, but because he disappeared to fight and/or commit terrorism in the jungles of Nicaragua.
I’ll post more later when I have time. But let’s try to keep any away from hostility or anything personal in this discussion. I’m not saying that anyone is engaged in that now, but this has the potential to get heated, so let’s try to keep this a good discussion.
Those sites aren’t cherry-picked. They are the two fantasy sites which use consensus to build their rankings instead of the opinion of a single writer, like the sites you named. This is more valuable to a discussion of relative value since it eliminates the bias of a single perspective.

I concede that I overdid it with the emphasis here. Assuming the Watson to Miami rumors pan out, I think the average Dynasty owner who’s not in “win now” mode would pick both Jones and Watson over Rodgers in Dynasty. You simply cannot forget everything that happened with Rodgers this past offseason. You all are talking about Rodgers like he’s a flat out stud so far this season. He’s the ninth scoring QB in Fantasy thus far and we’re entering the bad-weather season in Lambeau.
Getting a bottom third fantasy QB who’s only got a couple seasons left in him is not a fair trade for 2 young QBs. Sure, neither are startable yet but in 2-3 years at least one of them probably will be and possibly both. Watson could be a top 3 guy. While I wouldn’t want to employ the guy or root for him, just about every NFL analyst seems to think any suspension he gets will be at most one season. “He’ll never play again” is not an outcome that experts are even talking about.

Even more elite if he switches teams, like he follows Peyton’s example and goes to Denver.
Funny example of a aging QB who gets traded. Was Peyton a must-start for Denver? I think not. Tebow was more productive at the end there.
He had arguably the greatest season any QB has ever had in Denver. He was a top 5 QB the first three seasons he was there. (hit the button too soon) Additionally, Tebow was replaced by Manning in Denver, not the other way around.
You’re right, I knew I should have double checked the stats. That last season was so bad it colored my memory of it.

Funny example of a aging QB who gets traded.
I only meant that in the sense that there’s an actual chance he could really go to Denver. The comparison I’m thinking of is more like Brady in Tampa.
How’s Brady looking? (I haven’t been watching highlights or following his fantasy stats.)
