SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 13

I have 3 receivers out with COVID. To be fair Allen Robinson is phoning it in so he doesn’t really count, but Tyler Lockett and a surprisingly resurgent Odell Beckham would’ve been starters for me this week.

I’m going to have to start Donovan Peoples-Jones, TY Hilton, or go double TE with Pitts, none of which are a good option here. In what ended up being quite a shocker, my RB depth ended up being better than my WR depth this year.

Fuck fantasy football.

It’s okay, buddy. Some guys have to deal with being premature like that. Make sure to talk to your doctor, I’m sure there are treatments for it

Wouldn’t expect the Indy defense to score highly against the Pats. Not feeling great about today.

The chatter is really down at the end of the season here.

I ended up getting home at like 8am this morning after being out all night, tried to make it up through the games but ended up falling asleep halfway through the first batch. Woke up to see I was in pretty good position. Both RNATB and I had fairly bad games but his was worse and he has almost played all his players, with only one left to play tomorrow but I’ve got 4.

RNATB has a 22.54 point lead and David Njoku left to play vs
SenorBeef has Nick Chubb, David Montgomery, Odell Beckham (delayed game gave him time to clear COVID protocol) and Matt Gay.

Jules actually has most of his players set to play after Sunday and Hamlet is almost done but posted a respectable score.

Hamlet has a 75.72 point lead with Rashod Penny left to play vs
Jules has Russell Wilson, Miles Sanders, Cole Kmet, Devonta Smith, Dan Carlson, Philly D left to play.

Yahoo projects me as an 82% favorite and Hamlet at a 75% favorite.

Big swing in my game with RNATB. Njoku, who is starting for him, was originally ruled to have caught a TD but it got reversed and then Chubb, starting for me, got that TD instead.

Looking pretty good for me to advance to the championship game. I need 11.15 points out of David Montgomery, OBJ, Matt Gay.

Having to rely on a Chicago Bear in fantasy is as brutal an experience as I can imagine. That team fucking blows, and that is putting it mildly.

This weekend has really put into perspective just how disastrous my team’s injury luck has been. I’m down 5 starters, and their replacements have been horrific. I lost the #4 and #5 hottest WRs over the last month, and their replacements scored a combined 3.30 points. I lost my TE last minute, and even got Kamara’s worst game of the season for that extra fun cherry on top. Just a perfect storm of suck, which is the exact right microcosm for this shitty season as a whole

Bah. Definitely did not predict the entire Buccaneer offense getting injured in the first round of the fantasy playoffs. But since they are, I likely would have advanced no farther anyway.

I can’t decide which of you fucks I’m rooting for to win. So like when two teams I hate play each other… I’m hoping for injuries.

Michael Thomas. Juju Smith Schuster. Chris Carson. Darren Waller. J.K. Dobbins.

You got your wish.

You and me, Senor Beef. One of the iffy parts of the depth on my team is I constantly fuck up who to start at my flex positions. Rashaad Penny? Brandon Aiyuk? Mike Williams? D’Onta Foreman? (and yes, I still chuckle to myself that he was a free agent pickup after Adrian Peterson went for $71) Michael Gallup? Tyler Boyd? Devin Singletary? Gabe Davis? No matter who I pick, someone from my bench always outscores them. I hate that.

Should be an interesting week …

I was league high score again. 4th or 5th time. I’ve lost count.

And the shoe drops. My best player, and the #2 RB in the league with a juicy matchup, Austin Ekeler goes into Covid protocols and says it’s not looking good for him playing on Sunday. In the championship game.

Dammit.

Hamlet smells funny and many people do not like his face.

Senor Beef eats paste and has a crush on Sister Marie Therese.

Good start for me. Deebo about doubling his projected points and Aiyuk about hitting his. Deebo is actually the #2 WR on the year (although he has a game ahead of his competitors) behind only Cooper Kupp’s nutso season. He’s only 25, too, which I thinks puts him in consideration for something like the 5th-7th best dynasty asset. It was looking pretty bad that I picked him over AJ Brown a couple of years ago but it’s looking like a decent enough decision at this point. AJ Brown is great too, I’m not saying Deebo is better, just that I didn’t make a huge mistake like it may have looked initially.

Speaking of AJ Brown, he had an even bigger day for Jules. Jules is currently projected to finish with the top score over the championship games. I am familiar with the great butthurt of playing in the third place game and outscoring both of the championship game teams.

Death, taxes, and Hamlet bitching about insignificant to imaginary injuries. It’s such a hard-coded routine that he even cries about injuries to players he doesn’t even have on his team!

I don’t think I would put Deebo in the top 5-7 dynasty assets, even if you meant to specify just at WR. But he’s a fascinating player. He has been awesome this season, but he’s Percy Harvin 2.0. WRs who can’t create offense downfield are rarely successful for long. This game tonight aside, he just came off a month where he played 4 games and caught 7 passes total. It’ll be interesting to see over the next couple years if his style of play is sustainable. My guess is that he can’t maintain over 55% of his yards coming after the catch and a YAC/rec number that is close to double every other WR1. Not enough has been said in the NFL media about how crazy of an anomaly Deebo’s season has been in relation to the modern NFL passing game.

AJ Brown is a perfect player to have brought up in comparison, coincidentally. Brown ambushed the league with a crazy rookie season where he was a fringe WR1 from day one, and yet something like two thirds of his fantasy points came on 6 plays. I remember charting it out and thinking he had to be a mirage. (I was wrong) During that season he had six 50+ yard receptions, including a 91 yarder. All but one were on short routes that he took to the house. Even in that season, his YAC% was only 44% of his total. It was still 8.9 YAC/rec, which is probably 30% above average. Deebo is at 9.89. (For the record, in Brown’s next season his YAC/rec went down to just about 6)

I gotta wonder just how much ironic numbskullery it takes to whine about me bitching about injuries in response to a specific post just a scant few days after yourself posting: " This weekend has really put into perspective just how disastrous my team’s injury luck has been. I’m down 5 starters, and their replacements have been horrific" and “Just a perfect storm of suck, which is the exact right microcosm for this shitty season as a whole”.

Yeah, the opening you left wasn’t perfectly timed. But, hey, at least I wait until my players actually miss time before crying about it!
