You know I’m flattered that you think I’m cool enough to be on a flight to antarctica. I’ll need a few hours, I’ve got a few things I need to finish up before midnight pacific.

Rumors are flying that Tracy is actually 28 years old.

Each behind the Tank.

Trade:

Justin gets 3.09 and my 2025 last pick
Beef gets Greg Dortch and Justin’s 2025 2nd round pick

The deal is really my third this year for his second next year. Greg Dortch was basically him throwing in his worst player so he could free up a slot to draft someone at 3.09 (since he already has 25 players) to balance things out.

Thanks Beef.

3.09 Roman Wilson, WR, PIT

@EllisDee is on the clock (tomorrow morning)

Late 3rd round feels like homer time to me. What am I going to do, draft a fifth QB? I feel naked without a developmental third TE on my roster, and I’ve had a pretty good draft history with the position. (Kelce, Hockenson, LaPorta, McBride) Hopefully me drafting him sprinkles my TE fairy dust on him and he hits.

3.10 Theo Johnson, TE, NYG

Another trade (not mine) another update:

@Really_Not_All_That_Bright is on the clock.

Jesus Christ. I have made an appalling fuck up. I thought I was trading my second pick to Jules for Brian Robinson, the guy who got shot in the butt and still plays for the Commanders. I actually traded for Antonio Gibson, the guy who wasn’t shot and is now a Pat. Not that owning a third down back on a team that’s going to check down dozens of times a game is bad - it’s just not what I would have given up a second round pick for. Oh well.

That said, my actual draft could not have gone any better. I was practically saying the rosary overnight hoping this dude would still be available when I picked. I’m not really sold on this “Sean Payton is a QB guru” thing, given that he couldn’t do anything with multiple-time All Pro Russell Wilson and mostly lucked in to Drew Brees, but Nix’ (Oregon) skillset is a good fit for what Payton does. (Weirdly, Nix was a completely different QB at Auburn - throwing it down the field constantly and not completing much.) I doubt he’ll be able to do much this year given the $53 million in dead cap and fire sale on offensive talent, but between him and Herbert I should be set at QB long term.

3.01 Jules - Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, NE
3.02 Mundi - J.J. McCarthy, QB, MIN
3.03 Gaffer - Jermaine Burton, WR, CIN
3.04 Peteys - Luke McCaffrey, WR, WAS
3.05 Retro - Jalen McMillan, WR, TB
3.06 Omni - Ben Sinnott, TE, WAS
3.07 Jules - Troy Franklin, WR, DEN
3.08 Jules - Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, NYG
3.09 Justin - Roman Wilson, WR, PIT
3.10 Ellis - Theo Johnson, TE, NYG
3.11 RNATB - Bo Nix, QB, Den
3.12 Hamlet -

@Hamlet is now on the clock.

After stewing over to pick this guy or Bo Nix, the decision is made for me. I hate prioritizing need, but here goes:

Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE. Carolina.

@Jules_Andre is apparently up.

4.01 - Audric Estime, RB, DEN

@Spiritus_Mundi is on the clock

18 picks left, and I’d like to get the draft finished in about 55 hours (Wednesday night) just so we have a bit of a buffer if we need it, so we need to target a pick every 3 hours or so. But factoring in that it’s unlikely many picks will be made overnight, it will have to be closer to 2-2.5. If you’ve got a pick coming up, try to be ready for it and keep an eye on the thread.

In the event that we don’t quite make it, we’re going to have basically an almost-live draft at noon eastern on Thursday so we can get the draft completed and submitted in time for people to set up their rosters for Thursday’s game.

I forgot to remind people this year, but you can also send me a list of picks you’d like to make if you won’t be around when it’s your turn. Send me any number of players in a ranked order and I’ll pick whichever the top one is when it’s your time to draft.

4.02 Ka’imi Fairbairn

@Ol_Gaffer is on the clock

Is that the first veteran player in the draft?

4.03 Will Shipley, RB, PHI

Apologies in advance in case we roll through the rest of round 4 quickly - I will be offline until 6am (PST) tomorrow morning. I’ve got an event tonight and unavailable.

@PeteyPart2 is up.

I think so - but all my kickers from last year lost their jobs so . . .

4.04 Malik Washington, WR, MIA

@RetroVertigo is up

No. Jordan Mason is not a rookie.

God damn, this draft is good. I am so sorry I invited this ringer into our league

4.05 Jacob Cowing WR SF
