I know I just said not many people are eager to trade their 3rd Rounders, but, well, I’m eager to trade my 3rd Rounder. If someone you like at 3.1, I’d trade it and my 2017 4th Rounder for your last pick this year and your 2017 2nd.
I’d only be moving up four spots, and my third rounder is my last pick. But yeah, I’ll give you my second rounder next year and 3.5 for 3.1, assuming dale and Hamlet don’t take the guy I want.

Does Hamlet know he’s up? We might have to set a tighter time table for picks. Maybe 8 hours with the exception of lenience if the period happens to run from like midnight to 8am or something where someone could plausibly be gone the whole time.

I’d also ask that people start making some pre-ranking lists that they can PM me if there’s any chance they’re not going to be around when their picks is up – for instance, if **dale **were to go to bed or a bar or something, it would a good idea for to send me a list of 3 players so that we don’t have to wait for his 2 picks after Hamlet makes his.

Trying to influence who gets picked like that is kinda lame, since obviously you aren’t being sincere. I may be reading that more cynically than it was intended though.

I am not trying to influence who gets picked. There are 33 more selections to be made in this draft, and I have none of them. I would be willing to bet dollars to donuts that neither of the people I mentioned, nor anyone else I might be interested in, has any chance of actually not being drafted. Instead, I was attempting to make a lighthearted comment, a witty observation, about the state of the draft. I kinda wish I was conniving enough to have some master plan, maybe either believing people would actually pass on a guy simply because I asked them to or a kind of double switcheroo where I name 2 players I don’t actually want in the hope that, by some stroke of bizarre luck, the one I really want is #31 on the list and will magically fall to me on the scrap heap. That would be kinda awesome if I could pull that off.
Ah, it may have been cynical to me but I thought you might’ve noted people who you felt were dropping and wanted someone who wasn’t as threatning a competitor to snatch them up before falling to a stronger team.

We’ve had 6 picks done since 8pm on Wednesday, Aug 31. It’s now Saturday, Sep 3. We have until Thursday night to finish this draft unless we want real games to start happening during it, which we most certainly do not. This is getting kind of ridiculous.
I’m going to suggest we put a 6 hour limit on picks, with a pause on the timer between normal sleeping hours of say 12pm-8am eastern. In the event that someone misses their pick, they don’t lose it, someone else just picks ahead of them until they’re back again. And they have had the option all along to send a pre-select list to Varlos. Just as an example, not to pick on him in particular, but after Hamlet was gone all day and Dale knew he had 3 of the 4 picks at the end of the round he could’ve sent a preranked list before leaving.
Even that might not be extreme enough. At this rate we’re simply not going to complete the draft in time. People have disappeared for 8+ hours regularly without sending Varlos any prerank lists. I actually suggest we even go more strict than that.
Missing your pick and having to pick 1-2 slots later is simply not that big a deal, plus you can prevent that entirely by either being here or submitting prerank lists.
Ok, we’re going to need to make some serious progress this weekend. At this point in the draft last year (5.6 days in) we already had the 3.10 pick done, so we’re a full round behind last year’s pace AND we have more picks to make this year AND we have less time to complete the draft.
So, Beef’s right, changes need to be made. Once dale picks, we’re going to go to a six hour timer with a one hour wait between picks if someone is being skipped instead of two (while granting clemency for the overnight).
Can’t stress this enough: pre-ranking. Be cognizant of when your next pick might come around. If you’re confident you’ll be around (or easily called back), great. But if you’re one of the next half dozen picks and there’s a chance you might be absent from the boards for 6 or 10 or 15 hours (which apparently applies to most of us this year), make a pre-ranking list ahead of time and PM it to me with instructions; as always, label the PM as a pre-ranking list and I won’t open it until I have to. If you’re interested in trading your pick (or trading for a pick), start making offers before that pick actually comes up.
I’m totally giving you guys the “disappointed father” look right now – we’ve never had to adjust the timer length before. But I still believe in you! We can do this! Maximum effort! WITNESS US!
Also, dale’s timer is going to run out in 20 minutes. He has back-to-back picks, then I’m next with an accepted offer to trade my pick to RNATB if his guy is still on the board. Are people ok with skipping dale and completing my trade if he doesn’t make it back in time?
