5.02 - Richard Rodgers, TE, GB
I guess it’s SenorBeef next.

Varlos actually owns 5.4. Swapped it for 4.4. He’s up. I’ll pm
Oh my god, I actually found a pick I like.
5.4 Robby Anderson, WR, NYJ
Big, fast, had a great preseason. Plus this article unironically compares him to Jerry Rice, and they couldn’t print it if it wasn’t true.
Justin Bailey is on the clock.
By the way, we only have 9 picks left to go (and after **Justin **makes this next pick only **Jules **and **Omni **will still be drafting), so we’ve made up all that ground we lost and then some. Obviously we should continue to draft in a timely fashion, but we can afford to be forgiving with the clock again if there’s a snag.
Alright, let’s get this show on the road.
5.06 Kenny Britt, WR, LA
PMed Omni
**DJ Foster, RB, New England **
PMing Jules
Will we be able to sign any free agents off waivers before Thursday’s kickoff? How long will waivers last after you import the draft?
Just a note of correction. I own Jordan Howard (3.04, listed on dale’s team), and Dale has 7.11 this season.
5.11 - Kenjon Barner, RB, Phi
5.12 - Eli Rogers, WR, Pit
Omni is back up.
Larry Donnell, TE, NYG
Jules, back at you. PM coming.
I was very tempted to make a safer pick, but screw it. I’ll go with the lottery ticket. I hope I remember I have to hold this guy for three years.
6.11 - Alex Collins, RB, Sea
Looks like Stringer is up. Pm sent.
Well, if we finish tonight or early tomorrow then I think so. I’m never exactly clear on what constitutes “two days” for these purposes on Yahoo. Depending, it’s possible that waiver claims won’t be processed before Thursday’s game (but they will be done well before Sunday regardless).
6.12 - Benny Cunningham, RB, LA
I’ll PM Omni.
Chicago Bears DEF
PMing Jules for the last pick.
I sent a pm to Dale since this pick went to him to balance the picks this year in the Jordan Howard trade.
I think that’ll be the last pick, yes? Cool.
Well good working everyone, we demolished the last half of that draft. I was concerned but I guess I shouldn’t have been. After Dale picks 7.11 Varlos can finalize the draft and we can get ridiculous and nonsensical Yahoo automated draft grades for our out-of-order rosters.
What happens if Dale doesn’t make his pick in 12 hours and there’s nobody left to skip him? Will you all tell your kids about the legendary Draft That Never Ended? I know I will.
Since the draft is all but over, I’m going to post some thought about my picks (spoiler: I love them). I’ll come back later and point out some picks I liked from everyone else, but I won’t do full draft reviews in such a small draft.
I was concerned going into the draft that, being new to the league and format, I wouldn’t know exactly how to evaluate where players were likely to go. One of my favorite draft tools for doing mock drafts was utterly useless to me since this is a dynasty league. But I think most of us worked off of similar lists, since everybody went almost exactly where I expected. I was worried I would screw myself for years, but I think I did all right.
1.04 - Derrick Henry, RB, Ten
I think Henry is the best back in this draft. I know Zeke has the first round draft pedigree and perfect opportunity, but Henry is a much better overall athlete and has freakish size/athletic measurables. Normally that type of combination is found on a project RB who is touted for his upside, but Henry has the production to match.
Landing in Tennessee isn’t too bad, either. They’re a run-oriented team, and the only guy ahead of Henry is a 28 year old coming off a terrible season (who has only been healthy for a full season once). A lot can be said for Murray being a bad fit in Philly, and how their line was terrible last season, but it’s just as likely that Murray isn’t very good if the offensive line isn’t opening SUV-sized holes in front of him.
Henry has popped off the screen from the first preseason game, and Tennessee has noticed. This will be a 50/50 RBBC within the first half of the season. I expect Henry to be an RB1 stud by 2018 at the latest when Murray is 30 and can be cut without any cap hit. For now, I’m thinking Henry is a spot-start flex based on matchups. God help you all if I’m right and I get Henry and Gurley for the next 6-8 years.
2.06 - Hunter Henry, TE, SD
I really like Hunter’s potential. He’s an exceptional receiving TE with terrific hands (didn’t drop a pass in 2015) who is also an above-average blocker, so he’ll see the field a tiny bit even while playing behind Antonio Gates. He’s only an average athlete at best, but he’s not deficient and he’s a fine route runner, so he gets open easily. Gates is 36 and won’t play past 2017 at the latest (I say 2016 is his last season). Henry just screams Jason Witten 2.0. That’s the ceiling, obviously, but I think he can get there.
3.04 - Jordan Howard, RB, Chi
I mentioned earlier that I don’t think Howard is elite, but I also think the players ahead of him are worse. If he tops out as a 1st/2nd/Goal Line RB down the road, that’s fine by me. Those guys are flex starters against good matchups, and I’ll take as many as I can get. Not that I’m thrilled with Howard’s outlook or anything, but considering what I paid to move up and get the last guy with potential to play regularly even without injury to the starter, I think the value is right.
3.05 - Robert Griffin III, QB, Cle
He’s going to pilot an offense loaded to the brim with weapons, while on the other side is a terrible defense devoid of much talent. If he isn’t an arrogant asshole and keeps up the progress he’s shown in the preseason, he could throw for 4,000 yards on deep pass after deep pass in garbage time. I trust Hue Jackson to develop an offense that fits RGIII. He just has to stay healthy and not be an asshole QB. He can do what Bortles did last season.
4.11 - Virgil Green, TE, Den
He’s the #1 TE on a team with a QB who has never attempted a pass in the regular season. Young QBs aren’t often polished enough to work through every progression, so TEs with young QBs tend to shine as safety valves who get looked at the moment the first read is covered. Green isn’t just a check down hitch route guy, either. He’s an incredible athlete and could grow into a big role in the offense now that he finally has a chance to play. Last year, Owen Daniels had 77 targets. Green is more dynamic and will probably hit closer to 90, which would give him a shot at being a top 10 TE.
5.11 - Kenjon Barner, RB, Phi
He has been the best offensive player in Philly this preseason, by a mile. Take that as you will. All he needs is for Ryan Mathews to get injured which, granted, has never happened before, and he could suddenly be a lead back with no competitioo. There’s no one else to take those carries. Sproles isn’t that player and he’s too old for every down work, anyway. Smallwood has barely practiced this preseason due to injury, and he got hurt again the moment he played. I bet Barner starts a few games this season.
5.12 - Eli Rogers, WR, Pit
He’s the starting slot receiver on a team that lost their QB’s long-time safety valve TE. He’ll have some flex value right away, and if Roethlisberger gets comfortable with him, he could push for 100 targets. I’m optimistic about him, just a hunch.
**
6.11 - Alex Collins, RB, Sea**
He was pretty productive throughout college, and he landed in a weird spot. He’s one of those guys that doesn’t do anything fantastically, but everything pretty well. Guys like that (productive albeit limited athletes, sturdy blockers, capable receivers) slowly move up the depth chart as injuries happen, then suddenly they make a start and don’t let go for a while. I don’t have a great feeling about Collins, but we’ll see. He’s another Jordan Howard pick, but with a more muddy path to playing time.
Anquan Boldin, WR, Lions. Don’t really need another WR, but there’s nothing else out there.
Yes, this is troubling.
Don’t forget to allocate waiver budgets. I just put in a claim and it said “thank you” without asking me for an amount.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see you already did. Oddly, it appears to let me make a $0 waiver claim now. Is this a new feature? I think I’ll toss in a dollar just to be safe.
