I’m open to trading for a backup QB. Not sure what I’m targeting yet or what I’m offering, but I figured I’d let it be known I’ll listen to offers.
I know I can’t keep up this pace, but I am feeling really good about my team this year.
But it would be really helpful if the Falcons figure out their RB situation…
Matt Ryan or Brock Osweiler are available.
Alright I’ll look into some offers later or tomorrow.
Big game between RNATB and I this week for the division lead. It’s going to be pretty crucial I think. Sure would be nice if I could have Gronk back.
Well, I’m glad other people actually bid on the the players I picked up from waivers. I’m less happy I upped my bid for Fozzy Whitaker from $30 to $38 at the last minute (the other bid was $12). Still, J-Stew has historically never been healthy (last season excepted) and is already hurt this year, and with Danny Woodhead already out for the season I needed some insurance on my RB depth. Whitaker could very easily wind up starting 8+ games for a good running team that figures to be protecting lots of 4th Quarter leads.
It’s weird, in the big league I’ve lost two bids because I tied my bid with another player who won with the tiebreaker waiver priority, and in every other league I’m winning bids by like $20 because I bid $22 and everyone else bid $2.
I’ve been paralyzed in this league because my draft picks are all slow to develop guys and I can’t justify cutting any of them.
Damn, I didn’t hear about Peterson’s injury until this morning. I’m surprised no one picked up Matt Asiata – even if McKinnon is the more interesting option overall, he’s not really more likely to get the bulk of the work than Asiata while AP’s out.
Oh right I wanted to pick him up. Whoops!
Still sore about losing to Stringer in a game that will probably have playoff seeding implications. I basically lost by kicker, though Doug Martin coming off the field in the first quarter hardly helped.
Don’t you worry about lil ole me, my team will collapse down the stretch.
On Monday, SportsCenter was saying that Asiata would likely only be used sparingly. Who knows what’ll happen this weekend, but it sounds like the plan is to give McKinnon 80-90% of the carries.
Me, I’m just excited that I’ll finally get to see what Charles Sims can do as a starter. I gave Varlos Stephen Gostkowski for the chance to draft Sims like four years ago and he’s been talking about what a good deal that was ever since.
Who is going down this week? Brandon Marshall? Julius Thomas? David Johnson.
Fucking week 2 and already I’m fucking sick of this league.
Is Marshall even going to play? I have him in my money league, and I’m benching Edelman tonight.
Looks like Gronk is going to play, but clearly hurt and on a snap count. Whereas Jared Cook hasn’t done anything this year but will probably at least get a few catches. I hate these sorts of decisions. On a close, super important game no less.
I think I have to go with Gronk if he’s active, but he may end up taking 10 snaps if the Pats get up early.
Well it was – even if Sims winds up being great, since I needed a Kicker anyway and it was my last pick. Wait, let me explain in more detail what was so brilliant about this move…
Yeah, Gronk put up a zero, so this is going to be Jared Cook’s breakout week. At least RNATB’s guys did poorly too. But I think I’m going to end up losing by less than the margin of Cook over Gronk.
If it makes you feel any better, I was going against teams with Blount in literally every other league.

It does not, since those other players are not likely to be in contention for our division.
I’m a little concerned about Lamar Miller. On the Dolphins he was basically always the highest efficiency RB in the league and they just inexplicably wouldn’t get him carries. Now he’s basically leading the league in touches, which is great - but is near the bottom in terms of efficiency. PFF says the Texans have better run blocking than the Dolphins.
So what’s the deal? Was his lack of usage on the Dolphins artificially boosting his efficiency? Seems unlikely - it’s not like they ran so little that the other team just didn’t play run defense. Was the Dolphins offense better suited for running for whatever reason? Is Houston using his wrong?
Or is it just a small sample size and I’m worrying too much?
We talked about this a little when discussing the trade, but in general I think a player’s switching teams introduces a huge amount of uncertainty in terms of how he’s going to perform (or seem to perform). A player’s production/efficiency is hugely dependent on his context, and particularly a RB’s. Even if the new team is apparently better at whatever the player is brought in to do, there’s no guarantee he’ll be a good fit their scheme, or that he’ll have good chemistry with the new players & coaches around him. And, of course, in this case, Houston has been bad at running the football for several years now, and the guy at RB is seldom the most important determining factor in that.
All that said, it’s definitely small sample size, and Miller’s upside remains huge while his floor is quite high (because of his workload), at least in the short term.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Houston is better at run blocking than Miami, but teams aren’t scared of Osweiler yet. That will change if he keeps feeding Nuk and Will Fuller doesn’t drop too many deep balls.
