SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year Eight

The first thing I thought of, without any research whatsoever, is how 3rd down/receiving backs typically have comparably higher yards per carry numbers comparable to average. It has to do with how, when they are on the field, they are typically not seeing stacked boxes. Their presence in the backfield indicates to the defense a probability of a pass. In Miami, I remember there were a couple guys who played the early down role ahead of Miller, right? Maybe that was it. Maybe it’s fatigue, I don’t know.

My team is a fucking mess. I’m 0-2. I’n in the bottom third in scoring, though I don’t feel like I’m crippled in that regard. I’ve had four different QBs get hurt already, and though I was lucky to not have Russell Wilson miss any time, he has been noticeably hobbled and limited and has yet to have a good game. Half my starters are Questionable. It’s not nearly as drastic and catastrophic as other owners, but it’s an annoying kind of mess that is hard to manage.

Other players in the thread mentioned they have tough choices because they have so many pretty good choices and not enough slots for them all. I have a similar problem. I have too many not great options. One will absolutely go off (Snead, Diggs, so far), but it’s very difficult to get a read on which player is the most likely. I have a very deep bench of just slightly above replacement level guys who have plenty of opportunity. It’s a weird dilemma because I feel like I have a hand in helping my team, but in the end it might not matter at all since these guys mostly suck to begin with.

Yahoo projects me to go 7-7 this season, which is the worst possible place to be in.

Pryor will get some snaps at qb. I really want to start him but who am I going to start him over? Ryan Mathews? Travis Benjamin? Blah.

I’m playing against Ellis this week, so that means Eli’s going to hit Sterling Shepard for 4 TDs. You still have time to call your bookie.

Aw sons Rodgers to Nelson is back.

Ah right. After Rodgers destroys the first half they don’t throw at all in the second half. That’s something they do.

You’re probably still going to win. Marvin Jones can’t win me this week by himself.

Hmm. That projection is getting closer and closer.

Sproles 23 points Mathews -0.5. I’m ready to commence continuous vomiting.

I didn’t even have to look to know I went against the KC Defense today. I have been getting wrecked by opposing defenses for years. Another loss, so my season is likely just about done. I hate fantasy football.

Nope, but the curse is real, so Carlos Hyde played out of his mind and even Tavon Austin got in on the fun. Didn’t see that coming.

So now I need 40 points from a qb, rb and wr. All three of whom are boom or bust types.

I sit Minnesota’s defense because they’re playing the Panthers, and then Cam Newton does nothing. 32 points on the bench, I can’t believe it.

I need roughly 40 from Brees and Devonta Freeman tonight. Otherwise, Stringer’s probably going to be the only undefeated team left (I don’t if Beef can pull it out against Cooks and Ingram).

And Matt Ryan. It is an odd feeling for me to be rooting for so many NFC South players.

It looked early on like this was going to be one of those weeks where I crushed, I had like 90 points during the first half of the first games, but then Rodgers/Nelson scored a combined 2 points in the second half. That’s so frustrating. And it’s not like they didn’t have to score - Detroit made a decent run of getting back in the game. But GB does that. I have to hope Rodgers and Nelson just have very good halves and not great ones so that they have to keep playing through the game.

I should’ve started Terelle Pryor over someone. Would’ve had to do it over Benjamin or Thomas though - only had 2 RBs starting and couldn’t have done it over one of them. Mathews got hurt early in the game and Sproles ended up putting up 20+ points. Lots of ways this shouldn’t be a nailbiter but it is.

Winning this one puts me up 2.5 games on RNATB which would be a big relief at this stage.

But not winning didn’t.

Erm… Do not throw a pick, Ryan.

And now 9 of the 12 teams are either 2-1 or 1-2.

It’s always those close games that get to you. You make one little change and it all goes the other way. One in-game injury robs you of a few points that would’ve otherwise won it for you. Or one team that decided to stop playing offense at the half.

If I miss the playoffs this year, this game will be why. With a win this week I’d have been 3-0, and 2.5 games up on RNATB for the division. Now I’m actually in third in the division for the moment. And next week I have to play Stringer when I’m down Rodgers/Nelson/Eagles Running Game and can’t even really field a RB2. He’s at full strength and should crush. So I’ll probably stay third in the division for another week.

Less than a 4 point loss, so all it would’ve taken would’ve been Gronk to score anything at all, for Mathews to stay in the game for another quarter before getting pulled with injury and letting his backups score 30+ combined points, to have gone with my gut and replaced anyone with Terelle Pryor, or Aaron Rodgers to throw like 4 passes and Nelson catch one in the damn second half. The last one is the most annoying one, because it hurt me in another way - Green Bay deciding not to have an offense in the second half is what allowed Detroit enough time to get Marvin Jones to score 35 points since they had 27 possessions in the second half. Both of those had synergy against me.

My butt hurts muchly on this one.

On the plus side I’m on the top of the yahoo power rankings. It thinks I’ll lead scoring for the rest of the year.

Oh yeah, the view from up here is pretty nice.

Not only am I 3-0, but I also have the #1 QB (Bree), the #5 WR (Fitzgerald) the #4 and #5 RB (Tevin Coleman and Forte), the #5 K (Cairo Santos), and the #1 DEF (Minnesota).

I’m liking my chances for the rest of the year.

Bear in mind that I only lost to Stringer last week because Doug Martin and Ameer Abdullah were injured in the first quarter of their respective games. You could easily have been 2.5 games back in the division. So it’s not that bad.
