SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year Nine

Woops, I copied the wrong version of the supplimental draft. I have a pick in there at 1.12 for Cameron Meredith.

Please weigh in if you have an opinion about supplimental draft picks for rookies this year that went on IR after being drafted.

Wil Lutz K-NO

I have no real strong feelings one way or the other about the supplemental draft. At this stage, I’m basically doing last minute tweaks to my roster, especially with guys that got released and waiting to see if they’re going to land on another team.

With the last pick of the regular draft this year, I’ll take a flyer on

Gerald Everett, TE, St Louis … oops, LA Rams.

I won’t PM anyone based on the discussion about rookie injuries and the IR. As to that, I have no strong feelings either way. My gut feeling is that when a rookie is drafted, he comes on your team as is. If, after he’s drafted, he gets injured and placed on IR, I don’t see much difference between that and a kept player getting injured, so, despite the sometimes creative use of the NFL IR, I don’t have a problem with them getting supplemental picks.

Whatever we decide, we should probably make it quick. The first game is just a little over 24 hours away.

And if we don’t “finish” the draft by midnight, it’ll require some extra tweaks to make Yahoo count the first week.

Alright, so there were stronger objections to the supplimental picks for rookies thing and not really anyone pro, just a few “I don’t really care” people. So I think I think we’ll have to err on the side of not allowing the picks then making up a concrete rule for next year. It’s probably ultimately not a huge deal - it’s the end of the draft picks vs waiver wire, so the quality of player is likely to be pretty bad.

That leaves us with a supplimental draft of:

1.04 Ellis [for Kenneth Dixon]
1.05 RNATB [for Spencer Ware]
1.06 Justin [for Julian Edelman]
1.08 Omni [for Tajae Sharpe]
1.09 Petey [for Quincy Enunwa]

PM sent to RNATB

Just an FYI, RNATB replied to my PM that he doesn’t have any more picks.

So I confirmed on page 1 of this thread that he did indeed keep Spencer Ware, and then I confirmed in yahoo that Ware is indeed on IR.

I replied back to RNATB that he does indeed still have a pick. I was pretty salty about it, too, since I’m actually done with the draft but all of a sudden I was back “on the clock” and had to do confirmation research and send out another PM to keep this thing moving.

Technically we can’t use the IR slots on our roster until after the draft, so we’re out of picks but the spots will open up right after the draft is finalized. So we’ll draft those players in the thread, move the IR players to the IR slot, and then I’ll manually add those players to the appropriate teams. So RNATB, you can pick someone that you can roster when IRing Ware opens up a spot.

Also, for the purpose of finishing the draft, let’s make the pick timer one hour. We told everyone that if we didn’t finish we’d do a quick draft on Wednesday evening. So Justin can make his pick in 18 minutes from now (8:01 eastern) if RNATB doesn’t make a pick.

And if you’re not sure you’ll be around in a couple of hours, send me a PM with pre-ranks. I won’t open it until the appropriate time. And we’ll get this squared away tonight.

Okay, since we completed the actual regular draft (aside from Varlos’ 2 picks), I went ahead and completed the draft. You can now access your rosters normally.

Supplimental picks will be manually added to the roster rather than through the normal drafting process anyway, so there was no reason to hold up on finalizing the draft for that. This way we don’t run afoul of any of yahoo’s deadlines.

I filled in Varlos’ draft with 2 people whose names amused me, but when he gets back of course he can make any picks he likes from the remaining players and swap those into his roster.

Draft results

Check your team to make sure everything looks good.

Justin is up for the supplimental draft, which we should still complete by game time tomorrow.

Not sure how much of a hassle it is, but Varlos usually customizes the schedule so that everyone’s first two and last two games are in the division.

I went ahead and moved my guys to IR and set my starting lineup. You can put Dallas on my squad any time; I’m not starting them this week.

Trevor Siemian QB DEN

Can someone PM Omni, I’m on my phone.

Got it.

RNATB can make his pick whenever, since it’s pending.

I favor a clear, unambiguous rule. Either yes, or no on non-keeper IRs. My preference is for prohibiting it, but wouldn’t go to war over it. These guys are a massive crap shoot.

I’ll take C.J. Fiedorowicz TE, HOU.

I will PM Petey.

Cole Beasley, WR, Dal

Alright Petey you’ve got the last pick again after me. Give me a little bit and you can post again.

De’Angelo Henderson, RB, DEN

Petey is back up for the last pick of the supplimental. Varlos has 2 picks pending, RNATB one.

Chris Boswell, K, Pit

I have to evacuate this weekend, but I should have my roster set on Friday.

Just move your IR players to the IR slot (click and drag them and it’ll appear at the bottom) and I’ll put the supplimental picks on your roster. Same for everyone.
