It’s going to be a long day for The Gusterrhoids.
Man Bobby Rainey looks good today, wish I’d started him.
This league is incredibly frustrating this year. It’s pretty clear I belong in the playoffs, but it’s going to be an uphill battle.
I have over a 100 point lead on my division leader, but he’s had more than 250 fewer points scored against him. I’m being the wildcard race to Varlos, who I was on pace to beat even with Aaron Rodgers out until my running back was carted off the field. I just needed 3 more points, and I’d be in the driver’s seat for the wildcard, one win ahead of the competition holding the tiebreaker. But losing that game due to that injury puts me a game behind for the wildcard without many weeks left.
At one point I was the points leader in the league with a 5-4 record. I then lost 4 out of 5 with scores against me of 172, 168, 145. Even Ellis Dee put up what’s probably his league-high-ever score.
3 games left. If I make it to the playoffs, all is forgiven and it’s a new game. If I don’t, fml.
Well, just to play devil’s advocate on the points against issue: you only really lost one game you “should’ve” won because your opponent went crazy (131-173 vs. Petey). You lost a coinflip-type game against **Justin **when you scored 118.5, but other than that it’s just been a case of not getting any cheap wins (like the one I’m about to get this week in my game against RNATB, say).
But whatever. Personally I’m still dying to see Aaron Rodgers come back just in time for you to steamroll the consolation bracket…
Being the league points leader with a 5-4 record and the highest points against by a sizable margin is a shitty deal no matter how you break it up.
Speaking of, with a lead of only 1.54 points heading into Monday night, I’m tempter to pull my defense to lock up the win, especially since points seem kinda unlikely to be a tiebreaker for me this year. But, what the hell? If the Patriots put up 35 on the Panthers, maybe I deserve to lose.
Well, sure. But being 6-5 when you have basically the same number of points as the 5th-ranked team (which is where you are now) *isn’t *such a shitty deal. Rodgers’ injury sure sucked, though.
ETA: I really am just playing devil’s advocate. You’ve been a little unlucky this year.
After this weekend I’ll likely the league in both Points For and Points Against.
You also got a win against me in Week 1 even though my score would have beaten you every other week this season. So hush.
Cannot fuckin believe I’m gonna lose. Fuck the Cincy defense ugh.
Anyone got a TE to trade?
Tim Wright is available. Or Jordan Reed for a much higher price. I’m still looking to package players for a top-flight WR.
Sorry Stringer, I think this might just be my year.
Jared Cook or Charlie Clay are available for RB help.
Jordan Cameron and Garret Graham
As far as I can tell I only played you once and posted one of my patented shitty scores against you. (74 and change.) I’d love to say it was close to my worst, but I’ve actually scored worse than that THREE times, and my fifth-worst score was only like a tenth of a point better. sheesh.
Speaking of defense, Buffalo really took the wind out of my sails yesterday.
Yahoo projected Buffalo to get 12, and the Giants 0.5. But last time the Jets played Buffalo Geno Smith had a great game (300+ yards passing) and the Jets offense just looked all around good. By contrast, the Packers are swirling the drain and the Giants defense has been coming on strong the last three weeks feasting on backup QBs, and I expected that trend to continue.
So despite the projections I pulled Buffalo and started the Giants late Sunday morning. Then I watch the Jets game, where the Bills defense went ballistic: sack, pick, pick, sack, pick six, sack, pick. I was so pissed!
Then the Giants did essentially the same thing as Buffalo did, even including a pick six. But those fuckers in Buffalo totally made it less fun. In the end it was moot, with Buffalo scoring 22 and the Giants 20, and even if I left the spot open I’d still be likely to win my matchup. (Currently up by 19.35 with Ted Ginn Jr left to play.)
My bad, I looked up or down a column or something.
Just a heads up: as always, the** TRADE DEADLINE** is as late as we could make it, but it’s coming up in 10 days, on NOVEMBER 29th (right before the start Week 13).
Would there be any interest in extending the deadline by a week or two and manually processing trades? I’m not advocating for or against the idea, but it occurs to me that in this league we don’t have to stop when Yahoo deems it necessary.
If trading was allowed right up until the start of the playoffs, I expect we’d see a fair amount veteran talent flowing to the playoff teams, and draft picks & prospects making their way to the rest of the league.
Is that a good thing? I don’t know. One benefit I can think of is that it gives consolation bracket-type teams the opportunity to be sellers and acquire young talent – as it is now, most of the teams in the middle can’t sell off pieces for prospects because they need to keep their playoff hopes alive in the current year.
I was actually going to suggest the same thing. I’m in favor of basically no trade deadline.
No trade deadline is fine for me.
Dale did me a huge favor and upset Petey. That puts my fate back in my own hands - if I can win out, I’ll be able to take the division since I play Petey on the last week. That may end up being the most important non-playoff game I’ve ever had in this league. Looking forward to it.
Varlos won, no help in the wildcard race. Hamlet lost and Stringer won, making that division a 29 point affair at the moment.
I need RGIII, Alfred Morris, Pierre Garcon, and Vernon Davis to combine for 32 points tonight to win this week. If they each meet their average game, I’d have almost 60 points. C’mon Redskins’ junk time!
I’m fine with no trade deadline as well…Go Niners!
