SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Five

My matchup against Beef is proving to be quite interesting. I’ll happily play spoiler during the rest of the regular season. Cam is kicking butt with 30 fantasy points, but Beef is having an unbelievable game with big games with Josh Gordon and Rob Gronkowski.

Josh fucking Gordon sons. Told you.

Unbelievable. I’m projected to put up 150 points (from nine players after Detroit decided not to throw to Nate Burleson once) and it still won’t be enough.

Good show Varlos. Good show. I’ll probably see you again in the playoffs.

Don’t you try to reverse-jinx me! You need 36 points from Brees tomorrow night; a longshot, but he’s done it at least once this season. (Heh, not exactly: if Brees duplicates his season-high Week 4 performance of 35.85 points, we’d tie.) Basically you need 420 yards and 4 TDs (that’s with a cushion built in to absorb a couple sacks etc.). It’s possible.

The Detroit defense change would have been a 30 point swing, but fortunately I should win by much more than that.

This week didn’t really matter, because I still have to beat Senor Beef next week for the playoffs. I scored 141 to his 138, so it should be interesting.

It is possible. It would be even possibler if I played anyone but Burleson in my WR/TE flex spot.

OTOH, Brees is playing at Seattle. I suppose it would be an epic feat to put up 400/4 in that circumstance.

In that case, I’d be fine with letting RNATB start Detroit for pride of Points For.

Both Varlos and Petey won, so while I did what I needed to do to stay alive, I didn’t improve my position. It basically all comes down to my match with Petey this week, which is among the most important fantasy games I ever had. And it’s projected around 50/50 right now.

This Aaron Rogers thing really screws me - both because of the obvious loss of Rodgers, but because Nelson and James Fucking Jones take a pretty big hit in value too.

I’ll take Aaron Rodgers off your hands.

I just noticed a trade list in the commissioner’s note on the league page, which says:

2014 Draft Picks Traded:
– Justin Bailey’s 2nd Round pick goes to dalej42.
– Varlos has the option to swap 2nd Rounders with Omniscient.
– Justin Bailey’s 1st Round Pick goes to RNATB.
– Stringer’s 1st Round Pick goes to dalej42.

I notice neither of my trades are on that list, so at some point we’ll need to create a comprehensive 2014 draft pick trade list.

Also, are we extending the trade deadline into the playoffs? I’d kind of like to see the deadline be the end of the regular season. For some reason I can’t help shaking the idea that players not in the playoffs get an unbalanced trading position, hugely in their favor, once the playoffs start. That feels kind of wrong.

Playoff scenarios:

I play Petey for the division. The winner goes to the playoffs, the loser is out.

A Varlos win and a Bailey loss gives Varlos the division and Bailey the wildcard. Any other scenario that I can see gives Bailey the division and Varlos the wildcard.

Varlos has effectively clinched a playoff appearance, although not technically. Technically Petey could outscore him by 100 points while losing his game with me, giving him the wildcard. That’s the only scenario possible that I can see where Varlos doesn’t make the playoffs.

Hamlet and Stringer play each other in the last game too. Stringer is a game and 50 points behind. If Stringer wins, they have a tied record, and tied division record, which would make the tiebreaker total points, right? So Stringer needs to beat him by 50 points to win the division, or he’s out - he has no path to the wildcard.

So Bailey and Varlos are making the playoffs in one form or another. The winner of the SenorBeef/Petey game will make the playoffs. And Hamlet will make the playoffs unless Stringer beats him by 50 points. Did I miss anything?

Nope. Those are all the playoff paths going into the last week.

I added your trade with Beef, but what’s the other one? I’m not aware of any others that are not accounted for.

Barring objection, I think that’s what we’ll do: Trade deadline will be this Saturday (or theoretically Sunday morning, I guess).

Alright I need another running back. I’m willing to deal one of my bug guns. Nelson, Thomas, Gordon…maybe. It would have to be big for Gordon. Cameron is also up for grabs and possibly Gronk. Lets get talks rolling.

Did we decide to fast track trades in this league? I may make a deal later this week and I want the option of having it go through.

I thought I’d traded for a pair of 3rd rounders to make my first five picks 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd. Sadly I can’t find that trade anywhere; not here in this thread, not on the yahoo page, and not in my history of PMs, of which I still have them all. So I just have to assume I only thought about it, but didn’t actually make any offers to make it happen.

Last trade day. I might send out some offers. First come first serve. If you want one of my WRs or TEs send an offer.

Oh right. The actual trade date has passed. Gotta send PMs.

Trade deadline is basically tonight. I’m probably going to bed early, but anything posted to the thread and confirmed by tomorrow morning will be pushed through so long as it’s clearly not controversial. Not that I would anticipate a problem, but the price of waiting until the last minute is that a meaningful, reasonable objection kinda has to carry the day.
I’m pretty sure I’ve got a trade completed with SenorBeef, but I’ll wait for him to post final confirmation to the thread.

Yeah it’s a minor one. Finley for Helu.
