SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Five

Woo! All scraps to me! Have you figured out who you are taking #1 yet?

With Tim Tebow on the draft board, I think the answer is clear. Having the honor of redrafting him #1 just makes it all the sweeter…

Baldwin just got traded to the 49ers, and Tate may end up starting Week 1 because Arian Foster’s back condition is getting worse. Ugh.

Ugh…have not had any time to think about Fantasy this year. Cuts coming soon, you all will probably be thrilled with some of my bad, rushed decisions.

Looks like the final rosters are not posted to this thread, hopefully its in last years thread because I don’t have it handy.

I would like to swap out Reece for Tolbert if it’s not too late:

Mike Tolbert
Kris Durham
Montell Owens
Aaron Hernandez

Nope…little help? Guessing I can trust that the rosters in Yahoo are the single source of truth?

That’s what I did. Why would they be wrong?

Jamie Harper
Jason Hansen
Joshua Morgan
Doug Baldwin

In case we snap-shotted things at the end of the regular season or something. Not sure eliminated teams should have been able to make roster moves during the playoffs.

I’m pretty sure the eliminated teams’ rosters are frozen during the playoffs anyway.

I have 6 players in my cut list; were some of them on IR? I figured on having 6 picks.

EDIT: To clarify, I don’t much care. Just curious.

Yes, you had 27 on your roster, so six cuts drops you down to 21, so four picks.

Does anyone know what’s going to happen on Yahoo when we hit our cut deadline (set for tomorrow, I don’t know when it goes into effect – possibly as late as midnight Pacific). For instance, it doesn’t know our draft order (since I’m locked from entering one before the deadline), so obviously it isn’t going to just miracle our draft board up for us.

I’m a little tempted to switch to the “live” draft we had last year. Forces me to enter everything manually, but then I’m also able to input trades and picks as they happen, which makes the “Draft Results” page on Yahoo really useful for keeping track of everything.

Regarding Foster’s injury: Yeah, fantasy football makes ghouls of us all. There’s a small but distinct part of me that hears that news and goes “ooh!”.

Bad news about Crabtree, I guess? I don’t know, hard to imagine he’ll be less than SF’s WR3, and he sure as hell has a better QB throwing the ball now.

But yeah, the trade’s looking better on my end than it did a week ago…

Yeah, I was happy to hear about Baldwin. He’s got no competition for reps in San Fran and I expect their passing offense will be better. Not sure if he will have time to learn the playbook and so on though. I’m mad at myself about Tate though.

I will only have 8 picks because I traded one of my cut players (Barth) to VarlosZ to even out the trade.

Ok, keepers are entered and we’re all set to go. It turns out to be a very painless process that Yahoo has going. Once the deadline is reached, the commish reviews, confirms, and/or edits the keepers, sets the draft order, and chooses whether to put keepers at the back of the draft or the front. After that everything pops up just as we’d like it to.

My trade with **RNATB **is already reflected. As we go along in the draft, I’ll be able to update the draft results page.

Number of picks per team:

2: Stringer
3: Hamlet, SenorBeef, Petey, dalej42, VarlosZ (I dropped Matt Prater)
4: Ellis Dee, RetroVertigo, Justin Bailey, Omniscient, furt
8: RNATB

I’m pretty sure we’re not dropping as many players as we ought to, in general.

Please take a moment to make sure your cuts are entered correctly. It will be much easier to fix any mistakes now than it will be when we’re halfway through Round 4.

The clock won’t actually start ticking for another 38 hours (12:01 AM Thursday), but for all intents and purposes the draft has begun.

Early drafting is fine (and helpful), but don’t feel obligated to start rushing through the board right away. There only 45 picks this year (down from 60+ last year), so we’ve got some more breathing room this time around. I officially encourage everyone to take this time to scout out potential trades and send out feelers.
***** Ellis Dee is on the clock.*****
Instructions:

  1. Everyone gets 12 hours to make their pick.

  2. As soon as you post your pick, please PM the next person to let them know that they’re on the clock. I’m sensitive to the fact that it might be annoying for some to be continually pinged by PMs from this league, but I think this is an entirely reasonable measure in this instance.

  3. When your next pick is near, make sure you have an idea of who you might be targeting and/or what types of trades you’ll be seeking out.

  4. If there’s some uncertainty about whether you’ll be around when your next pick, consider sending me a short pre-rankings list – you can specify whether I should draft off of it immediately, or only in the instance that your clock is about to run out (or anything in between). Label the PM as a pre-rankings list in the subject line and I won’t look at it I until I have to.

  5. Because of the tight schedule, we might not be able to give much leeway if your clock expires. If your clock is running out try to let us know you’re around and working on it, and as long as we’re still more or less on schedule we probably won’t be too cutthroat. In any event, at least at first, don’t jump ahead of someone whose clock has run out until I give the OK.

  6. All that said, the 12-hour window exists for a reason, and you shouldn’t feel bad about using it. Just don’t waste it, is all. If you’re actively looking for specific trades, or you want to take some time to consider because you’re really unsure who you want to take, that’s great. Just don’t let the clock run down hoping that your metaphorical phone will ring.

Don’t forget the trade of Brees for Roddy White + 2014 2nd rounder between Dale and I.

And I had originally wanted to dump Blaine Gabbert but I forgot to edit my keeper list on Yahoo. I was on the fence about the drop so I’m going to take this as a sign and leave him on my team.
