SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Four

Phew. Thought I might actually have to hang on to Blackmon for a while.

ETA: I didn’t trade for Williams 'cause I’m a homer. I traded for him because his floor is 770 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Blackmon’s is 7 years for DUI manslaughter.

With rosters this deep, I want high ceiling guys, not low floor guys.

I should say, I like the trade for me, but I don’t have any kind of solid objective basis for it: Justin Blackmon simply passed my eyeball test like a motherfucker. Caught a game of his early last year having never heard of him before, and he leapt off the screen to me – that’s what a stud WR looks like. Then I looked him up and saw that he was in fact the top WR prospect and I felt smart. His situation does suck, but in a year or two maybe it won’t.

Tony Gonzalez, Vince Young and Sidney Rice have also been traded twice.

Williams’ ceiling is just as high as Blackmon’s. Remember, he had 964 yards and 11 touchdowns two seasons ago as a rookie, with a quarterback who was basically a rookie, and with V-Jax across from him he’ll be seeing single coverage again for the foreseeable future.

It’s not so much that I hate Blackmon as I hate his situation. Blaine Gabbert sucks and will continue to suck, and I need production now. Beyond that, I will always value a guy who has shown he can play in the NFL over a guy who has never taken a competitive snap.

Yeah, he’s not a totally dissimilar to Blackmon: a knucklehead with great measurables. Last year’s dip in production worried me, but the upside is still there.

I saw him in person last year when OSU played Mizzou. He is definitely a playmaker.

I’ll have my pick in the next couple hours. Finely got my sick kid in bed so I now have time to do a little more research.

Looked up my own trade history while I was looking up who else had been traded twice. Amusing reading. Also totally forgot I traded away Tampa’s #1 receiver last year (though he hadn’t signed there yet).

2011:

2010:

2009:

I have absolutely no idea what I did with Witten, but he’s no longer on my team. Weird. I vaguely remember trading him for Reggie Bush, but it doesn’t appear in any of the transaction lists.

Well, it made sense at the time. Cooley had just gone down for the year, and Jermichael Finley was my backup TE… before he got good. Plus, Daniels had something like 600 yards and 5 TDs through 8 games. How could I have known he’d tear his MCL the next week?

Add Jason Witten to the two trade team. I traded Reggie Bush to RNATB for him back.

And save some prospects for those of us who haven’t picked yet! To think, I thought David Wilson might fall to #10.

When did we do that Bush/Witten trade? It doesn’t show up in the transaction list for past seasons on Yahoo.

ETA: Found it. It was during an offseason.

I assume the Bush/Witten trade was last year (probably preseason), since I don’t believe I got around to doing the trade roundup for 2011.

Hopefully I can go back and do it at some point, though if someone wants to beat me to it I wouldn’t hate that.

A college playmaker. Blackmon reminds me too much of Michael Crabtree. But he’s still better than Mike Williams.

I also saw him a few years ago. Different kind of receiver.

Too late to edit.

And by different I mean that Blackmon doesn’t seem to have a problem running routes that will result in him getting hit. Crabtree always seemed to run outside the numbers.

Brian Quick WR STL

A reach, but with only two picks I wanted someone with a lot of upside. His leaping ability will make him a factor right away in the red-zone.

Justin_Bailey is on the clock.

Thanks much, I appreciate the help.

Computer is all squared away now, cleaner than it’s ever been and everything appears to be back the way I like it. Formatting the hard drive was both much more and much less hassle than I expected. Four days to get back up to fighting shape is about what I had figured, so no harm no foul. I’m now back and can resume control of my team.

Apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks much, VarlosZ.
