SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Six

Also, I’d be playing Denard Robinson over Andre Holmes (or whoever I end up sticking in my W/T slot) if I didn’t feel like it was bad sportsmanship. But then I made a thread asking people about whether they considered what I propose there to be bad sportsmanship, and only Hamlet didn’t seem to think I was nuts. And maybe he was just encouraging me to not optimize, not sure. If you have an opinion I’d be curious to hear it.

You and Hamlet are both nuts. Play the dude.

Agreed. If he’s listed as a WR/RB, play him in either position. This is not at all like pulling a Defense on Monday night (which I find distasteful, but again, it is still legal).

It’s fine.

Can’t believe I dropped Denard the week before he went off.

Well I tried. Carson Palmer’s knee and the Arizona defense killed me.

Wish I had known it was going to be a CJ Anderson day…

That was a crazy game. Jared Cook got 12.4 points on one play. Then the Yahoo app took the points away when the play was challenged. Then it came back when the play was upheld.

Then I needed Lynch to go crazy to win in 2 of my leagues. So it was mixed feelings whenever Seattle got to the goal line. But it looks like I will win in those leagues as well.

So I acknowledge that I got lucky.

If I lose because I started Michael Floyd over John Brown…

…I’ll dance a happy jig.

Alright Rodgers and Nelson, I already won. Save this shit for another week.

Isotopes is now 9-1. Too bad. At least I got back to being a game ahead of RNATB. Petey is actually catching up to me for the overall scoring lead, as is Stringer.

Is the Northeast winner even going to have a winning record?

Rodgers has 40 points in a half, and Nelson has 30. Those have to be some sort of fantasy football record for a half, right?

Looks like I may have purchased Giovani Bernard right before his value plummets due a potential time-share with Jeremy Hill. Plus Cam Newton (and the whole Panthers offense) is looking a little underwhelming, so I may well miss Matt Ryan.

We’ll see. I’m actually banking on historical trends to hold up. Jeremy Hill doesn’t look bad from what I’ve seen of him, but he is slow. NFL teams are forever trying to make the whole “Thunder & Lightning” thing work at RB, and what inevitably seems to happen is that the small, shifty back greatly outperforms and the power back on a per-touch basis, and eventually the coaches tire of giving half of their carries to a guy averaging 3.8 yards per rush.

Basically, I think really successful power backs are extremely rare. For every Jerome Bettis there are 50 Mikel LeShoures or Ron Daynes or Jonathan Dwyers. If you’re gonna be big, you’d better also be fast.

Problem is that Bernard hasn’t averaged much more than 3.8 per rush (4.1) while Hill is working at a 4.7 clip.

I think he might make a roster adjustment or two, but Omni is currently projected to score 26.23 points this week. I’m at 134.28 without a kicker.

I went without a tight end last week because I was confident I’d win and I didn’t want to kick anyone off my roster for a one week replacement, and I’m considering leaving my kicker slot open this year. I don’t want to drop Dan Bailey because he’s been very good for me, but I also don’t want to drop anyone else off my roster for a 1 week kicker rental.

Is anyone looking to trade for 2015 picks? I’m interested in strengthening my team for a run this year.

What are you looking for? Even though I’m leading the Northeast, I don’t think I have a realistic shot at winning it all. So an extra 2015 pick or two might be good to replace some of my aging guys.

I’m looking for an impact flex.

I have a lovely DeAngelo Williams with your name on him.

By “impact,” I don’t mean the sound the player makes being tackled behind the line of scrimmage.

What do you guys think of Martavis Bryant? He’s still getting less than half of the #2 snaps but he’s put up crazy good production in every single game now. He’s a size/speed/strength guy that’s developing fast, and I think he may end up being pretty good as the #2 guy in the Pittsburgh offense.

Given how productive Big Ben’s #2s have been over the years, I’d give up a pick for him if I needed a developmental wideout. It’s still early days, though; Markus Wheaton could still be The Guy.
