SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Six

That was unexpected. Tate ran so well in his first two games, and then just didn’t. Not sure why. Not sure I see the upside of the cut here unless he’s a locker room cancer, which he may be, since he was complaining about playing time.

It sounded like a locker room cancer issue to me.

Pettine has commented about his playing-time bitching a few times in the last few weeks so that’s definitely what it sounds like.

Let’s hype this shit up RNATB. Might be the matchup of the year right here. I’ve got my roster set. (Not mine. /r/fantasyfootball is going a little nuts)

It might be a bit of a squash. Basically every one of my starters has a bottom-10 matchup by position, except Joique Bell - and I might end up starting Vereen over him anyway.

On the other hand, I am perfectly happy to have you start Gordon. He can’t be much of a factor with this much rust.

Josh Gordon forgives your lack of faith.

This is my reasoning as well, but the FF hype train is full speed ahead.

But on the other hand, I can’t really imagine the worst secondary in football being able to cover him.

Josh Gordon transcends your petty notions of rust and mortality.

Isotopes got a somewhat poor performance out of Bowe and McFadden last night, leaving Warner’s Brothers with a slight projected lead. If he can give Petey a divisional loss, and Josh Gordon beats RNATB, it would set the stage for me being able to take the divisional lead by beating Petey during the final regular season game.

I feel like today will be a glorious day for our league. My team is functioning at full capacity, ready to lay the wood on the guy most likely to knock me out of the playoffs. I think I will maintain the scoring lead despite encroaching opponents. Isotopes has a tough divisional game.

At this point I’m kind of hoping the Northeast Corridor teams bomb and they become the NFC South, sending someone to the playoffs shamefully with a losing record.

Weird. I had put the Eagles defense in as a starter when I dropped Atlanta’s defense, yet they weren’t started and it’s an empty spot on my roster. That’s not cool.

Interesting matchup in the East between me (3rd) and Justin Bailey (1st). Going into the night games I’m down by around 13.5, and in terms of “mine vs his” it’s:

Eli vs Brees
Donnell vs Witten
Buffalo DEF vs Buffalo K
Rashad Jennings vs nobody to make up the 13.5 point deficit

Yahoo projects me to barely win the matchup, but I don’t think I agree with Yahoo. If I do happen to win, though, I’ll only be one game back from Justin (6-6) and if the VarlosZ vs furt matchup continues as it looks now, tied with VarlosZ (5-7) for second place in the division. All this despite having the second fewest points scored in the league. (Also the fewest points against, just barely edging out Beef for softest schedule.)

It’s been a while since I had so many Giants starting, and as an added bonus Justin’s starting Witten, who plays the Giants tonight. So tonight could be fun.

Odell Beckham is the greatest.

Man I’m bummed that your grip on him is as tight as his grip on the ball.

After the SNF game, yahoo likes me even more in my game against Justin (52% to 62%) but I’m even less convinced. How’d they do?

Eli went big, scoring almost 10 points over projection, almost 5 more than Brees’ projection.
Donnell continues to disappoint, getting outscored by a largely unused Witten by 7.6.
Jennings covered his projected 15.7, earning an even 16.

That leaves me with just under a 21 point lead and the Buffalo DEF (playing the hapless Jets; projected 13+) against Brees and the Buffalo K.

If I can squeeze out a win here, not only will I be only one game out of first, but I’ll have the tiebreaker on Justin with a 3-1 divisional record to his 2-2. In other Eastern news, VarlosZ is closing the gap, now only a 47% underdog in his matchup against furt, so that could fuck up all my hopes and dreams. heh.

EDIT: Looking closer at the VarlosZ vs furt matchup: GO CHRIS IVORY!!!

Yeah, I don’t know what to tell you there. I’m sure you didn’t mean to leave it blank, and I’m almost sure you meant to use Philly, but I’m not sure that there’s anything to be done. I’d bring up the possibility of slotting in your lowest scoring DEF in the interest of fairness, but that would be Tennessee, who put up a -2.
I can’t believe I’m still alive this week and for the playoffs. I almost wish someone would put my team out of its misery so I can stop worrying about it and maybe trade away a piece or two. My team is mostly playing like dogshit, mostly because the RB position is again a disaster – and yet if I win and Justin loses (both of which are near coin-flips at this point) I’m back in first place.

Bah. That’s that, then. Not even the Rolling Ball of Butcher Knives that is Mark Ingram can post 56 points against Baltimore. Hell, he hasn’t done that in his last three combined. Can’t complain; I started all the right guys, with the exception of Joique Bell. Plus, Dan Herron might be a valuable pickup for the future considering how useless Trent Richardson is and how fragile Bradshaw is.

It’s funny, the Northeast is the only division with an honest-to-god playoff race. Stringer will clinch his division while Petey and Beef will both clinch playoff spots though the division title is still technically up in the air.

And I hate to disappoint Beef, but it’s impossible for the winner of the Northeast division to have a losing record. We’re all playing each other… somebody has to win.

I forgot to look at your schedule to see who is playing who, but there is at least one scenario where your division can send a loser to the playoffs:

This week: furt beats Varlos, Ellis beats Justin. Records:
Ellis 5-7, Varlos 5-7, Justin 6-6

Week 13: Ellis Beats Varlos, Furt beats Justin
Ellis 6-7, Varlos 5-8, Justin 6-7

Week 14: Varlos beats Justin Furt beats Ellis
Ellis 6-8, Varlos 6-8, Justin 6-8

OK… that would seriously suck.

No, that would be AWESOME, because in that scenario I’d win the division by virtue of having a 4-2 division record, while Justin and VarlosZ would both be 3-3.

EDIT: And the 1-10 furt would finish only 2 games out of first place at 4-10. heh.

The was the most fun I’ve ever had watching one of my teams implode in humiliating fashion. Rooting for the Bills DEF, they delivered with 7 sacks, 1 Int, a blocked punt for a defensive TD, and held the Jets to 3 points. Wow!
