SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Six

Well that Buffalo defense really is a fantasy killer.

Ellis Dee is losing to the only New York player he doesn’t own.

Well, that was pretty much the worst case scenario as I predicted. Isotopes scored his highest game of the season, and I scored my lowest. Congrats to him on the division and for making the championship game.

That was quite the trainwreck. And Buffalo vs Green Bay ended up outscoring the Giants vs Washington 24-17. Who woulda thunk it?

Anyway, if I’d started my best performers with perfect prediction…

24.00 Eli (QB)
15.30 Jarvis Landry (WR)
13.20 Jericho Cotchery (WR)
06.20 Steven Jackson (RB
05.50 Carlos Hyde (RB)
07.40 Mychal Rivera (TE)
10.46 Andre Roberts (W/T)
05.30 Preston Parker (W/R)
11.00 Cody Parkey (K)
24.00 Buffalo (DEF)

122.36

…I still would have been clobbered handily.

Need to buy an Odell Beckham jersey.

On the plus side, now I can get my hands on Johnny Manziel for a conditional 5th round pick from Varlos, so I can continue my tradition of shitty Browns pickups.

Josh Gordon almost makes up for all that anyway.

Edit: The way I worded it sounds like Varlos would be sending me the pick. And that does sound fair.

Congrats to Stringer, our first two-time champ!

I’m still holding my breath over the 5th Place Game. That was so close.

Stringer is both the playoff champion and the points champion of our league, a well deserved championship.

The final scores including the playoffs, sorted by total score. Record / score / actual official finish
Players who didn’t play in the playoffs or consolation bracket have fewer games played.

  1. Stringer 13-3 / 2021 / 1
  2. SenorBeef 12-4 / 1960 / 3
  3. Isotopes 12-4 / 1904 / 2
  4. RNATB 11-5 / 1794 / 7
  5. VarlosZ 6-10 / 1793 / 6
  6. Omniscient 8-8 / 1766 / 8
  7. Justin Bailey 8-8 / 1726 / 5
  8. Hamlet 4-10 / 1602 / 10
  9. dalej42 5-9 / 1523 / 9

  11. furt 2-12 / 1393 / 12
  12. Retrovertigo 3-11 / 1293 / 11

Do you know I’ve finished third 4/6 times since our league started, including the last 3 years? I don’t know whether to be frustrated by that or proud. Our first year I was awful, and the other year I was the champ. A consistent 3/12 is probably pretty good I guess.

You goofed a bit…

  1. Stringer 13-3 / 2021 / 1
  2. SenorBeef 11-5 / 1960 / 3
  3. Isotopes 13-3 / 1904 / 2
  4. RNATB 10-6 / 1794 / 7
  5. VarlosZ 7-9 / 1793 / 6

Yeah, I goofed up, I thought the win total listed on stattracker included last week, but not this week’s since it wasn’t official yet, and so I added this week’s result. The league standings page seems to reflect the week 15 score in the totals, but not the week 16 scores even though it’s complete, which doesn’t make sense.

I actually don’t quite know what I did, but your records are correct. I guess an overall record doesn’t really mean much, since it mixes playoff, consolation, and regular season records. Someone that has two more losses in the playoffs over a non-playoff team still did better. Regular season records are up on the standings page in any case.

Thanks guys. It’s incredible how much luck you need to win a fantasy league even when you have a good team. Beef lost by only 1.7 to Petey in week 14, and had he won that game he would have won the title due to the change in seedings.

I came into this year with some huge question marks on my roster and basically struck gold with Odell Beckham in the 2nd round, Forsett on waivers and my CJ Anderson stash (I’ve had him languishing at the end of my roster since last year.)

Does anyone still think Odell isn’t a top 15 dynasty player? If we did the 2014 rookie draft over again, he’d go #1 right?

Well done, Stringer. If I can’t be the one to win, I would want … the fucking league to burn, BURN to the ground leaving nothing but ash and the bitter taste of defeat amongst all you fuckers. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!

Whew. Glad I got that out. Congrats!

I do. We’ve seen this show before from Giants wideouts. Many times, in fact.

God damnit, that is a fair point. I used to think Hakeem Nicks was the answer to my WR woes.

I think Beckham is a clear cut above Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, and Victor Cruz. Specifically, I think those other three guys are made better by Eli, and would (and have) struggle to do much of anything with a different quarterback.

By contrast, I think Beckham is a flat-out stud, and would be on any team. I’m super pissed at myself for not drafting him. I was so proud of myself for trying to make a reasonable, non-homer fantasy decision and I end up missing out on a stud, drafting a meh, and losing the only reason I didn’t take Beckham in the first place. (Cruz, whose career is likely over.) Gah!

Congratulations to Stringer. I had a good run there for a while.

Interesting that my MVPs for the year were Mike Evans and Jeremy Hill, picked 7th and 19th in the draft. But beaten by Beckham, the 17th pick.

Forgot to mention: congrats, Stringer! A well deserved victory.

Holy shit, LeSean McCoy got traded to the Bills!

Well that’s a huge and unexpected trade. I’m not sure this hurts his value - the Bills have put up a lot of rushing yards in recent years, just split multiple ways - but if they’re willing to trade Alonso for the guy, clearly they plan to feature him.

I think we can assume Spiller isn’t coming back. Looks like there could be running back roulette with questions about Murray, Peterson, and Spiller.

I imagine Fred Jackson will lose a step or two next year.
