I kinda like the divisions the way they are. I think that, in a few years, it’ll be cool to look back and count division titles, records vs. specific teams, etc., and that some decent rivalries will grow out of that.
Why, not at all, good sir.
As long as we’re talking about changes to structure: is there any interest in using our deep benches to add another starter slot, either in the form of a 3rd WR starter, or another flex spot of some sort? Full disclosure: this change would probably help my team a little.
Adding a WR slot is specific enough that it would advantage certain teams or disadvantage others. If anything, maybe a W/R/T flex spot would be in order. Which would still favor certain teams, but much less specifically. Dunno, I’m not sure major structural changes to a dynasty league are good ideas, but I’m not objecting. I’d have to give it some thought and discussion.
Yahoo screwed the pooch with draft times. Much like the keeper league – which I created around the same time – this league’s draft time was pushed 3 hours earlier from 10pm ET to 7pm ET.
Apparently what happened is the original time selection were in PDT but then yahoo treated them as EDT times. Which is extra stupid because the original selection went from 6am to 8pm, meaning leagues created in early July were pretty much guaranteed to be screwed.
The good draft times are getting snapped up pretty quick, though this league is uniquely well suited for “bad” draft times so not a huge deal. But best to change it soon anyway.
This is a league where you can pretty much autodraft without a problem since your list can be pretty shallow, but you’re right - times should be sorted out soon.
There’s only about a 50/50 chance I can make the draft on the current date, but I’m fine with preranking and autodrafting.
There is no way I can make a 7pm Eastern draft on a weekday. It is the weekend before Labor Day, but my normal work schedule has me working until 930 PM Eastern. I’m sure I can leave an hour or so early with the holiday weekend and make the original draft time, but I’d have to autodraft if it is going to be at 7 Eastern. I’ll keep a player at each position and prerank if the draft is going to be that early.
Ok, the new provisional draft time is Saturday, 9/3 at 10:30 Eastern. If that doesn’t work for you, speak up soon (it’s Labor Day weekend). Sunday nights are already booked up, apparently, though it might be possible to sneak in after someone else cancels. Would people prefer a weekday draft (given that it’s going to start as about 10:30)?
I vote no division changes, and if anything I’d like to see the starting rosters smaller, not larger. Despite having a relatively solid RB corps, I think the fact that I can start 3 of them is a bit silly.
I’ll be away from my computer on Labor Day weekend. I may be able to do it via phone though, but my service is pretty shitty where I’m going. This year is a rebuilding year for the Bunnies though, so I may want to actually draft. Although the list of potential players is small enough an autodraft wouldn’t be the worst thing.
I was wondering if there would be a chance we can get an easily accessible list of available players before we make cuts? At the yahoo page, nobody is listed on my team, and I’m not too keen on going through every roster to eliminate guys myself. I will do that if I need to though.
Why, I happen to be swinging through Springfield. Want to meet and, um…have a beer or something? Preferably in a dark alley way somewhere out of other human sight?
Just as an addition, if we draft on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend, odds are pretty good I’ll have imbibed too many adult beverages to be of much use. Of course, the way these last two years went in this league, that may not be a bad thing.
Much earlier would be better, like Monday the 22nd at 10pm ET. It doesn’t matter with this league; even a season-ending injury doesn’t torpedo draft value that much. Because the third preseason game doesn’t matter as much here, we should take advantage and schedule the draft before it to make room for other SDMB leagues where it does matter.
Earlier is fine with me, but there was a comment up thread that after the 3rd Preseason week would be better. We’ll see. And we’ll take a look at the draft dates for the other leagues and be willing to move if there might be a conflict.
Since the focus is on drafting rookies I’d rather have a later draft so we can see them in action. They’re not known quantities like the veteran players.
You’d think Varlos going through and setting the rosters for each team would leave a list of unowned players, but I vaguely seem to remember that not working right last year for some reason. Does anyone remember in more detail?
