SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Three

IIRC, setting the rosters early just sets up the players you’ll redraft after all the rookies are taken. The draft was the trigger, not Varlos setting it up.

Right, Yahoo doesn’t really make available a list of non-keepers before the draft. The closest they come is that, for the commish, there’s a master list of ALL players when he goes to assign keepers, and the keepers are subtracted from that list as he does so.

This was my solution last year, and then Ellis was good enough to write a script that organized the list into a more useful format. Anyway, long story short, even assuming that it’s no trouble for Ellis to reformat the list like like year, we can’t get it until I enter the keepers, and I can’t do that until I know who everybody is cutting.

I’m sure I can dig that script up. Once all the keepers are entered, instead of the text dump to the thread do it to a text file and attach it to an email. I’ll post the cleaned up version to the thread.

Same exact format would be ideal, but any format it fine.

Ahem. And, ahem. Also, ahem.

Too bad this sort of trade/wager is (apparently) verboten, 'cause I totally would have put my money down for real. Ohh, having the 3rd and 4th overall picks this year would’ve been juicy, too…

I think we definitely need a longer cut deadline than 1 day before the draft then. People need to be able to pre-rank and stuff if they’re going to miss the draft, and in general, I’d prefer people have more time to look over the available list.

Right, I’ll want to enter the keepers a week before the draft ideally (5 days minimum), so we’ll have a deadline which reflects that. We’re still going to be cool about good faith, post-deadline revisions, however.

NO VARLOS! If there’s one thing I absolutely will not tolerate, it’s coolness.

I wouldn’t mind having people submit provisional, revisable cut lists early on. That way we can get an idea of how it’s going to go. And we can set up the rosters. Then people can tweak if someone gets hurt or something later, and then it only requires a roster transaction to modify.

Agreed. I’ve got most of my cuts already planned and I know who I might cut depending on how their preseasons go. I could probably have a provisional list ready tomorrow if need be.

So, who’s interested in Carson Palmer? Anyone? echo Oh, and yes, I’m willing to trade the Philadelphia Asomughas.

Trade for Randy Moss?

Okay, but only if you throw in Brett Favre Brett Favre Brett Favre.

Is this leagues draft serpentine?

No, the order is kept every round (I have the 12th pick in every round.)

Thanks.

Seriously, nearly all of my players are available for trade, especially my legion of running backs who are now backing up other people’s players. I need a quarterback to platoon with Schaub.

– Added 2 Injured Reserve slots to each team’s roster.

– Yahoo now lets you create a custom url for your league’s home page, so I went ahead and did that.

– Aligned divisions.

– Set Free Agent Acquisition Budgets.

– Set draft order.

– Set schedule. It’s the same as in our previous two years (see here).

– **Omni **has changed his team’s name; he’s now Ides of Martz.

Am I forgetting anything?
We’re basically locked into our current draft slot: Saturday 9/3, 10:30 PM Eastern. Deadline for cuts/keeper declaration will be Sunday, August 28th. (I’ll send out PMs to that effect in a bit.) As I’ve said, you can revise your list (within reason) after that date, but you must submit a list to me by then. In fact, I would encourage everyone to send me a list at least a couple of days ahead of the deadline (if everyone does so, I’ll publish the results early). When it comes to post-deadline revisions, common sense rules: a change submitted 4 days before the draft will be executed; a change submitted 4 *hours *before the draft *might *be executed. And don’t abuse the privilege; i.e., put thought into your cuts before the deadline and submit a list that you believe will be final.

You can post your cuts in-thread if you like, but I would suggest PMing them to me instead, so that there won’t be an advantage to waiting in order to see how everyone else is playing it. If you clearly label your PM, I won’t open it until after I’ve made my own cuts.

Did we ever decide if FAAB money can be carried over from year to year? I’m much in favor of this, but I think I might be the only one.

If we do, I’d rather we wait til next offseason, 'cause I didn’t save any.

Well, we’d start with this year if it is approved. I like the idea very much.

I can’t think of any good reasons not to roll over FAAB. It adds some interesting strategy from year to year.
