SDMB FF Super League of Doom 2012

Yikes, champ.

Jeez, Hamlet - did you kick the fantasy football gods’ puppy or something in the off season?

I was really happy with my waiver wire moves this week, getting Heyward Bey for free and Josh Freeman as a fill in QB both putting up some nice points. And then MJD gets hurt early, Kyle Rudolph goes AWOL, but I still put up the second most points in the league. And lose. I’m hoping these screwings will balance out next time I hit a casino or was supposed to die in a fiery crash.

Two things:

  1. Remind me what, if anything, we’re doing for the playoffs.

  2. You guys do know that the autodrafted team is kicking your asses, right? I mean, there’s no real shame in that since the computer somehow drafted me an awesome team – five really good RBs (including 3 of the top 6), a bushel of really good WRs (7 of the 23 top ***projected ***WRs, though they’ve been merely above average as it happens), 5th and 9th top TEs, and 2 of the top 4 DEFs. It punted on QB, but the guys I wound up with have been totally solid middle-of-the-pack (8-9-10 in a league that starts 12-18). But still.

I haven’t even needed to do much touching up. I added Heath Miller, the #4 TE, and a couple of good-ish DEFs, Atlanta (6th) and Miami (9th), and … Davone Bess (46th)? I’ve even avoided injuries – the only important player to lose a lot of value because of getting hurt has been Greg Jennings. Aside from my typically awesome week-to-week bye-shuffling, this team’s on autopilot.

Playoffs are the top 2 teams having a 2 week total contest on weeks 15 and 16 to crown the champion, the two last place teams play over the same span and the loser is booted from the league.

This league is remarkably even, I think, aside from Retro. 5th place has only about 8% fewer points than first. 2 teams are 5-3, 3 are 4-4. Still anyone’s game at this point, except that Retro will almost certainly be in the relgation bowl.

Anyone else having trouble logging on into yahoo? I keep getting timed out. For the last 40 minutes, I’ve been trying to take out Aaron Hernandez and replace him with Martellus Bennett, but I can’t get past the timed out page.

I still can’t get on to make the change. If you’re around Beef and having an easier time, could you make the change for me please.

I’ll make the change later, yahoo is still unusable.

I also couldn’t get on today to make my last minute roster checks. Fortunately I set my roster earlier in the week, but I picked up Gostowski from waivers and it went through I think yesterday, so he was left sitting on my bench. He’s the only K on my roster, I think it’s pretty obvious I meant to start him, so hopefully he can be retro-fixed with no objection.

One yard.

Unless he scored 80 points, I have no objection.

Considering the number of starting spots and the sheer number of points scored, losing by .1 point is insanely unlikely and, I imagine, incredibly painful.

I’m hoping for a scoring adjustment…

Oh well - there’s enough variability that I still have hope once these damn bye weeks get by.

Top 4 teams are now 5-4. Interesting race to the finish in this one.

Not so fast…

Well maybe.

So I started the Seahawks vs Cutler and Ravens vs Batch. Slam dunk, right? 2 top defenses against 2 offensive that give up a lot of points to defenses? 4 and 7 points.

So I bench SD against Cinci and St. Louis against SF, both offenses aren’t particularly good DEF/ST matchups, and they go for 22 and 16.

My optimal lineup almost hits 300 points right now, and that’s with RG3 and Victor Cruz with 0s so far.

I still may win anyway. Probably the favorite actually. Hamlet has an 18 point lead with Tynes still to play, and I have RG3, Cruz, and Garcon.
Retrovertigo needs 32 out of Hakeem Nicks and Alfred Morris. Doable. Wouldn’t call him the favorite.

Potables is still in it. Omni has an 18 point lead and Bradshaw against Eli Manning.

This is actually a pretty exciting MNF for this league. If Omni wins I think he clinches a playoff berth. If I win I’m in really good position.

With MJD, Amendola, and Harvin all injured, and real life taking my Sunday (I end up with a 0 for Brandon Stokely instead of the 24 for Donnie Avery), I think you have this one.

I’ve been on the road and relying on the Yahoo app to update my lineups. Well they didn’t update Titus Young’s status until after the kickoff that he was out. Fuck me.

This win takes me up into second place by virtue of being a win above the rest. This puts me in the driver’s seat - if I can win next week, I’m in the championship.

If I lose, Varlos or Potables will get the shot. I’m playing potables so he’d win if I lose, but Varlos has the tiebreaker edge on him, but plays Omni. Going to be an interesting last week.

Hamlet can save himself from the relegation bowl with a win and a loss by Varlos or Potables. Most easily potables, who he has a tiebreaker edge on. So Hamlet would be rooting for me this week.

Shit, I thought I switched the Baltimore defense for the SD defense. Hope that’s not the deciding factor…
