I never want to hear about politicians whipping out their things, Mexican or otherwise.
Kaine would probably have won in the eyes of a debate coach. But Pence might have won in the eyes of Joe Sixpacks across the Rust Belt. Pence’s comments, if anything, seemed more about firing up religious conservatives and those who already hated Clinton’s guts anyway.
On NBC, they just showed a very anti-Trumpence clip from the debate, where Kaine is pointing out that Pence can’t defend Trump’s words and policies while Pence tries unsuccessfully to interrupt him. Followed by Lester Holt almost gleefully agreeing.
Unfortunately no. Mostly retweets of comments by others. The few original ones are pretty generic and boosterish. I have the feeling Kellyanne got her hands on his phone and frantically rewrote while he dictated.
He’ll likely have a few choice comments when she gives it back later.
Pence reminded me of the Vice Principal at my old high school, who seemed to spend his entire day trying to bust kids for smokin’ in the boys’ rooms.
Not trying to expand beyond the base, in other words. Given the state of the race, that’s practically a concession.
That’s the soundbite. That’s the “47%” of this debate, and it will probably have legs.
www.thatmexicanthing.com now takes you to Hillary’s website. That’s awesome.
I have to give this a draw. Pence looked and talked presidential…unless you actually listed to what he was really saying.
Kaine had better points, by far.
Pence is also not a loony sociopath, Like trump.
Great work. Someone grabbed it just now:

In a tie, the loser’s the guy who gets memed the hardest. Looks like Pence wasted an opportunity on a night he otherwise did fairly well.
My feeling (as somebody who supports Clinton/Kaine) is that Pence won.
They both refused to answer the questions asked and they both kept interrupting.
Kaine had more substance especially specific policies.
However-he also had some talking points that he pounded into the ground.
Kaine looked a bit agitated and out of control.
Pence spoke to the camera initially, while Kaine did not. You can’t underestimate the effect of appearing to directly address the viewers at home. I don’t know why nobody told Kaine to talk to the camera.
Pence is a slippery SOB who spent most of the debate on the defensive yet still came across as more calm, poised and presidential
Kaine really came into his own on the last two questions. When he stopped trying to attack and actually talked about what he believed and how he reconciled his own feeling with policy, he came across as thoughtful dependable and likable, rather than just smarmy.
This moderator sucked. If she had any skills, she could have sequed from one topic to another as the conversation shifted. When they start bringing up Russia, you go to your Russia question then. You don’t jump to Syria and tell them “We’ll get to Russia later”. It basically turned it into people yelling talking points at each other and then her changing the subject so they could yell more unrelated talking points at each other.
Seriously. It was a total train wreck. I admit that Donald’s taxes are a good topic for Hillary/Kaine to club the opposition with, but I was seriously getting sick of hearing it as the answer to every question.
“You whipped out that Mexican thing again.”
I mean, just laid out there like that…
:knock, knock:
Who’s there?

:SHOW US TRUMP’S TAX RETURNS!!!:
Substitute “TRUMP DIDN’T SAY THAT” if you’re on the opposite side of the fence.
The graphic I got upon loading was titled “He actually said that”
Yes, but the rebuttal of Hillary’s campaign was so mean to Donald (by quoting him) was pretty damn funny.
Lasted until about 9:45. Then I went over to Luke Cage. It was painful and boring all at once (the debate. Luke Cage was great.)
Kaine was interrupty. Pence was smarmy and squinty and interrupty. Kaine needs to work on his vocal timbre; he too often sounds unauthoratative and nasal. Like George HW.
ETA: This won’t change anything in the campaign. I mean, the biggest loser of the night was you fools who sat through the whole thing.
