Sdmb nfl mock draft

The Rams look for some help up front to kickstart the offense and go with a mauler at guard.

St Louis Rams
68) Zane Beadles, OG, Utah

The Texans 3rd round pick should also be listed as Oakland’s. The Texans start drafting again in the 4th round.

That puts the Raiders on the clock. Needing help all over the place, it’s down to LB Eric Norwood, FS Reshad Jones, or DT Arthur Jones. Both of the Jones boys are starter material, but Arthur will help against the run, where the Raiders were so bad last season teams reverted to pre-Eddie Cochems, run-only offenses.

3 (69) Raiders - Arthur Jones, DT, North Carolina

Eagles and Jules are up. I have proxies on the Browns. Then the Bills (who need a third OT in as many rounds), and the Fins (both Omni) and then the Jags (me.)

If any of these guys make the pro-bowl, you know whoever picked him is going to brag about it.

I just sent in proxies four players deep for the 49ers and Raiders, I hope those are long enough. Off to run errands (and listen to sports talk radio, probably).

Interesting pick. Guy can run like a scalded cat, but he’s tiny. He was held out of some games at Ole Miss due to concerns about him getting crushed early in the season. If he can stay healthy and endure the grind in the NFL, he could be an impact player.

Change of pace guy. I think he can be a Darren Sproles-type of player, no questions about it.

I’m not a fan of Sproles, I think McCluster is actually better than him. Probably if you put Chris Johnson on one end of a spectrum at 10, Sproles in the middle at a generous 6, and Garrett Wolfe at the crappy bottom with a 1; McCluster would get a 7.5 from me.

The Eagles will take Perrish Cox, CB, Ok. St.

Yay I’m back to not being able to sleep more than 4 hours at a time.

Browns take John Jerry, OG Mississippi

I hate to slow this down, but Omni and I may have worked out a deal for the next pick, but it involves the Redskins, so I want to give ReticulatingSplines a chance to pipe in if he’s still around. So I’ll wait till 5:00, if we hear from him, he can decide for the Redskins, but if not, I’ll push the trade and pick through then.

Sorry Omni. After screwing him out of the Redskins 1st round pick, I want to give him a shot. I’ll be back at 5:00.

I like McCluster too, but you’re doing a major disservice to Sproles here. We know what Sproles can do in the NFL - ask any Colts fan who watched him drop 328 all purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on them in a playoff game. You’re calling McCluster a 7.5 based entirely on his body of work in college, right? Well Sproles’ collegiate numbers destroy McCluster’s. Sproles rushed for more yards in 2003 alone than McCluster had in his entire career, and he finished with twice as many rushing TDs as total TDs for Dexter.

You’ve moved to the top of my “dislike for an absurdly esoteric reason” list.

No word from Reticulating. I hope he won’t get too pissed.

The Bills trade their next pick (3rd rounder #72) and a conditional 3rd or 4th rounder next year to the Redskins for Jason Campbell.

That puts the Redskins on the clock.

Washington Redskins select Eric Norwood, LB, South Carolina.

That gives us:

So far:

ROUND 3

1 (65) Chiefs (from Rams) - Jared Veldheer, OT/OG, Hillsdale
2 (66) Lions - Dexter McCluster, KR/Gnat, Mississippi
3 (67) Buccaneers - Chad Jones, FS, LSU

5 (69) Raiders - Arthur Jones, DT, North Carolina
6 (70) Eagles - Perrish Cox, CB, Oklahoma State
7 (71) Browns - John Jerry, OG, Mississippi
8 (72) Redskins from Bills - Eric Norwood, LB, South Carolina
9 (73) Dolphins -
10 (74) Jaguars
11 (75) Bears
12 (76) Giants
13 (77) Titans
14 (78) Panthers
15 (79) 49ers
16 (80) Broncos
17 (81) Oakland (from Texans)
18 (82) Steelers
19 (83) Falcons
20 (84) Bengals
21 (85) Browns
22 (86) Packers
23 (87) Eagles
24 (88) Cardinals
25 (89) Cardinals
26 (90) Cowboys
27 (91) Chargers
28 (92) Browns
29 (93) Vikings
30 (94) Colts
31 (95) Saints
32 (96) Bengals (Compensatory selection)
33 (97) Titans (Compensatory selection)
34 (98) Falcons (Compensatory selection)

Dolphins on the clock. That’s Omni.

I’m going to get a little more defensive help for the Fins here.

Miami Dolphins
73) Thaddeus Gibson, OLB, Ohio State

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars select Jerome Murphy, CB, South Florida.

And the Bears finally get to pick.

Woo hoo!!! I get to make a pick for a team I actually give a shit about!

With all the real talent in the secondary gone at this point, and some players that lack talent too, the Bears will look elsewhere to address a need.

Chicago Bears
75) Mike Johnson, OG, Alabama

Johnson can be an immediate starter at OG and has experience at OT should the need develop. He fits the mold of the larger OG that the Bears have been steering towards as of late and Johnson is a A+ character guy and hard worker. He’ll solidify the shakiest part of the team last season and should help Martz, Cutler, Forte and Taylor do the things they are expected to do.

Hang on a sec, I gotta cross that Bears pick off the big board.

OH, there he is. Waaaaay down there.

I’ll be back shortly.

Will you people stop picking directly from my proxy list, please?

In a flurry of activity, the Giants trade their next pick (76) to the Reticulatingskins for Chris Cooley, TE.

The Redskins then select Selvish Capers, OT, West Virginia.
