SDMB NFL Pick 'em, Survival, and Salary Cap leagues

Tampa bay too.

And even St. Louis.

As a Cowboys fan, I find it particularly irritating that the Redskins knocked me out of Survival.

Pretty much everyone is sticking with the game this year. Cool. In past years we’ve had about a third of the people drop out sometime during the season but it looks like everyone is still active in all the leagues.

How are you guys ranked in the salary cap league? I’m in 7892nd place overall, 92nd percentile. But there are people that have a better score than me. I could be doing better, but I brain farted and forgot to adjust some roster stuff a few times. Like this week I have Ronnie Brown as my starter, and also missed out on my chance to buy Williams up for cheap. :frowning:

In 2007 I was in the 99th percentile… I was ranked something like 1400th out of 150k yahoo users. Damn I was awesome that year. This year I’m ranked 233/2607 (91st percentile) in the fans of Cleveland category and 52/747 (93rd %) in the fans from Nevada category.

I’m just sort of starting to understand the Salary Cap league; it will probably take me another year or two to get good at it - and I might not be inclined to make the effort. Wish that they would show weekly scores for our own team and our league. Now I can see what I did in a given week during the week and where I stand overall relative to others, but not see the progression during previous weeks. When you’re sucking hind teat it’s nice to at least see when you “win” a week.

Go to the league page and then click “group rosters” - from there you can select a week to see everyone’s score for that week.

Thanks, Mr Beef. Is there also a page that explains the scoring?

Here is the scoring. I don’t like the TD-centric nature of the scoring system, but oh well.

Looking at this, do running backs get receiving yards? What if a receiver ran a reverse and scored a TD?

Yeah, I don’t get that. Or a QB with a rushing TD. Sounds like a dumb and ambiguous move.

Only asterion has picks due still.

I always feel cowardly picking all or almost all favorites in a week in straight up pick em, but I can’t see many upsets this week.

I’ve got five dogs in straight pick 'em this week. Now you’re making me nervous.

I thought that for sure that when Pittsburgh lost we must’ve had at least 3 strikes in the survival league, but it turns out only one person picked them. 6, however, picked the Bengals. For three of them it’s their second strike and they are eliminated.

I picked Dallas, so that game had me nervous the whole time.

This is one of those weeks where if you just survive it (in any of the leagues) you’re doing well.

We’re down to the final 4 of people with perfect records, and hence, who can win the competition. The people with one strike can still survive until the end of the year, but the week of the first strike is a tiebreaker, ie if you and some other guy go out week 12, but he had a strike in week 5 and you lasted until week 10 for your first strike, you’d win. So only the 4 people who haven’t had a strike yet can eventually win.

They are:
SenorBeef
Gray Ghost
Isotopes
MadTheSwine

I don’t know the SDMB user name for Gray Ghost.

Theoretically, if they all strike out, and a person with 1 strike survives, wouldn’t that person with 1 strike win?

Oh, yeah, you’re right. I wasn’t thinking. The people who are perfect now would have to strike out twice before the guy with 1 strike got one more, but yeah, that would make them the winner. Forget what I said. Those are just the list of people who were the last 4 out of 29 to have a perfect record.

Exactly. And since I picked up my first strike in Week 1, would everyone else kindly start picking like garbage?

Yahoo’s main survival page says there are 23,988 people with a perfect record still in it. Anyone have any idea if they list how many players there were this season in total somewhere?

They’er trying to force me to take Cinci in survival this week. Which seems like a slam dunk on the surface, but the Browns and Cinci matchups always have one of the highest “what the fuck was THAT?” factors in the league where anything goes. I want to stay away from that game.

But what are my options? Considering the teams I’ve already used, I can take NYG away at Denver, Seattle away at St. Louis, Arizona away at Tennessee, or the Jets over Carolina. None of those look solid. Hmm…
