SDMB PC multiplayer gaming

Dude, Saturday night. Dirt 2 was/is one of the most fun multiplayer racing experiences ever.

Tonight we’re playing some Natural Selection 2 followed probably by Chivalry. Contact me or hop on our mumble if you want in

At some point in the next day or two, Red Orchestra 2 is going to be free. It’s listed at $10 now, but at some point it’s going to be free, and if you “buy” it when it’s free it’ll stay on your account - not sure if it requires you to actually install it now or not.

There’s also going to be a rising storm (a pacific war sequel) free weekend, which we’ll be playing, so if you’re interested in trying that out, keep an eye on it and install it for this weekend.

Looks like the 24-hour freebie period for Red Orchestra 2 has started. Get it while it’s (red) hot!

Rising storm, a pacific theater game in the style of Red Orchestra 2, is on a free weekend. I’m going to try to organize some games Friday and Saturday night, but it’s a big DL so grab it now if you want in.

There’s also a company of heroes 2 free weekend which is poor timing. I may get a few games of that going, but I doubt people will download both.

Chivalry is having a free weekend and sale on steam.

It’s a game we’ve played quite a lot - several times a month for the last year and a half. First person slasher game, really fun. (Random videos: trying out black knight mod, maul squad with insane cackling bloodlust)

Anyway, it’s free to try this weekend, so I recommend you do. We’ll be playing it tonight. The deadliest warrior DLC is also cheap - only $3.75, so we’re all getting that. It’s not as balanced or in depth as the original game, but you get to play as a viking, pirate, knight, samurai, ninja, or spartan - it’s silly fun. We’ll be playing that most of the night since it’s new to us.

If you do own chiv already but not deadliest warrior, try to run the game ahead of time and it’ll prompt you for a 3gb download.

Anyway, if you want in, add me to your friends list and/or join our mumble. Everyone should give it a try. Maybe I’ll stream it if the newer shadowplay versions fixed my streaming issues.

I’ve been too sick to get anything going the last couple of weeks, but I’m going to try to organize some chivalry/DW this weekend, and maybe some Guns of Icarus since a bunch of people got that, and Payday 2 is on a free weekend, so probably some of that too.

Going to try to get 8+ people together for Guns of Icarus tonight, and probably some chivalry too later. Starting sometime around 4:30-5 pacific.

We’re playing Chivalry for the first time in a while soon, so join us if interested. Some of us are also going to start playing Planetside 2 again after a long break.

There’s an Arma 3 free weekend going on. I don’t know how the multiplayer works exactly or what mods are interesting, but I figured I’d give it a try. So if you want to all get together in a blackhawk and crash into the side of a donut shop, download it and tell me you’re interested in trying the co-op.g

Arma 3, huh? Hmmmm maybe I should check it out!

Don’t have time to join you all for some multi hijinks, but the graphics on Arma III are absolutely mind-blowing. I haven’t played the latest Battlefield, but this game looks like it was shot on my parent’s VHS camcorder. Which, for a video game, is pretty good to me.

Still trying to figure out the controls. The in-game guide is less than helpful. Looks like it’d be a lot harder to get lost though than I remember it being in either Arma or OFP. And, at least in the intro mission, the AI isn’t as lethal as I remember from either of those games. Though there’s probably a difficulty setting that’ll enable it.

Anyway, neat game.

Does anybody here still play DDO? Its ftP, has your basic D&D class warfare system and still adds content.

Sure, some of the servers are way over crowded with Gamer Trolls, but if we gamed together in One Guild & basically ignored any LFMs or drama from the outside, it could be a lot of fun!

I posted a thread about Next Car Game / Wreckfest, a racing and demolition derby game from the guys who made the flatout games. I’m really excited about this game and we used to have a lot of fun playing the old flatout games, so I’ve been really trying to push people into getting it. See the thread for details.

It’s still early access, but it’s already in a pretty developed state - still, the reason I bring it up now is that until Nov 3 it’s on sale for $21. So if you’re interested in getting the game, whether you play the early access or not, consider it a nice preorder discount, since the price won’t be that low again until months after release. If it looks interesting to you, grab it, contact me on steam, and post to that thread.

Chivalry is on a free weekend on steam. Those of us who already have it can slaughter some new blood and those of you who want to try it should definitely give it a spin. I’ll be hosting a game sometime around 9 eastern on Friday night and possibly Saturday if I’m around.

The new call of duty is on free weekend from steam. I’m not going to buy it, but I’ll fool around with it for free. If anyone else is grabbing it, we should play together.

Also, the new steam broadcasting feature works really well. I’m going to run some streams of our wreckfest and chivalry games tonight. If you’re interested in checking those out, go to the settings in your steam client, account, then click opt-in under beta participation. Steam will download a small patch and relaunch. You can simply right click on friends and pick “watch game” to see a live stream of their game. Works really smoothly, and good quality. Add me to your friends list if I’m not already there.

Cool! I might have to do that!

I’ve been playing the CoD multiplayer for the 2 weeks it has been out. I’ll be on when I can during the weekend.

I created the winter sale thread.

Also wanted to mention this is on flash sale for another 5 hours. It’s a 4v1 co-op horror game. The four players are spawned into a semi-random creepy world and need to find a way to escape, while one player plays a monster (there are different kinds) who hunt them. So it’s sort of like a co-op version of Amnesia with a human adversary. Haven’t played it yet, but the reviews are positive, and the concept sounds like a lot of fun, and it’s definitely the sort of game we could get together and enjoy. So grab it for $5, or $3.75/copy if you want to split a 4 pack with some friends.

I found I could use my Amazon gift card to picked up Chivalry over the weekend! I had forgotten about this thread, and going back I realize I also downloaded War Thunder a month ago when our computer got resurrected.

Research seems to show no worthwhile way to convert Amazon gift cards to Steam $$ :frowning: (I’m not spending $25 for a $20 gift card) so I’m limited in buying power.

It seems much of my wish list wasn’t on Amazon but many of them were “in production” games, like Keppler Space Program and Verdun so I think that could be why. Are most of the big name games usually available on Amazon? What to buy next?
