SDMB PC multiplayer gaming

A few of us have space engineers which is on sale for a few more hours for $10. It’s sort of like gmod in space, from what I can tell. Anyway, I’m told they’re gonna raise the price soon as it furthers in development ala minecraft, so now is the time to buy it if you’re interested. If enough people are playing it, I might make an SDMB server for us to fool around in.

Insurgency is a midweek sale but only for about 13 more hours. But I’m going to try to organize some games of it this weekend.

That game looks great…There was a Quake3 mod similar to it I played like crazy. I think I’ll pick this one up…thanks for the tip!

I was wrong, insurgency is still on sale through early tomorrow. We played it last night - it’s surprisingly good. It’s sort of like a red orchestra for modern combat, but not as overly (and unrealistically) punishing on weapons handling. The weapon handling feels really good and the firefights end up being pretty realistic in as far as a video game goes. It’s definitely worth grabbing for a few bucks, and I’m sure I’ll be organizing some SDMB games of it.

It’s now in my library.

Played a few hours of Insurgency tonight – very much like!

And, I got to a K:D > 1 sooner than I ever did in PS2. Not sure what that means* … but I enjoyed the maps and tried a couple game styles, liked everything.

*I’m hoping it means my tactical awareness is decent. Og knows my twitch muscles aren’t what they once were…

ETA: Found the training to be slightly lame, but I guess it helped me get acquainted with how it all works. Experienced FPS players should feel free to skip it, in my opinion.

Guild Wars 2 is $10 this weekend only, that’s the best price it’s ever been at and there are no subscription fees, so if you’re interested in trying, now is a good time. Thread about it.. Our server is “Sea of Sorrows”, add me as a friend as Beef.1032

I’ve been getting hit hard lately by spammers/scammers who put me on their friends list. They always come with private profiles and look sketchy. But since I make open offers to people on the SDMB to add me as their friend, I accept all requests and then ask them who they are - and then of course they try to scam me.

So going forward, if you want to add me to your friends list on steam, either have a public profile and join the SDMB group, so I can see you’re legit, or if you don’t want to do that for some reason, send me a PM on the boards when you add me so I know it’s you. That way I can start rejecting the sketchy scammer friend adds. Thanks.

If anyone is interested, there’s a Battlefield 4 sale on gamersgate. Base game is $10, premium (5 DLCs + some minor benefits) is $20, or $25 for both. When it came out we played it for a month or two, but the game was kinda broken and we got fed up with it and it didn’t stick. But I’ve heard it’s a lot better now, so I’m using the sale as an excuse to get back into it. Does anyone want to join me?

I’ll be playing the new content a decent bit, so it’s better just to get the premium package if you want to play together. BF expansion packs are pretty meaty - you get a few new maps which are huge, detailed, and focus on different areas in different modes - it’s not like the COD shoebox map packs that are ridiculously overpriced. They usually come with new vehicles, weapons, and game modes too. At $4 per DLC, it seems like a pretty reasonable price.

There’s a co-op game sale on steam for valentine’s day. In particular, I was wondering if anyone is interested in grabbing Guns of Icarus Online. We have about 10 people who have it, and we haven’t played in a while, but I was going to see if there was any interest in picking it back up. 4 people man a ship filling different roles, and jumping between various stations to manage repairs, buffing equipment, manning different weapon stations, etc. It requires a lot of teamwork and coordination and is pretty unique. There’s a 4 pack for twice the cost of one copy, so if you’ve got some friends who might be interested just grab that.

I posted a video from a while back showing Guns of Icarus gameplay. I think I had a few recordings of games where we had 8 SDMBers on two ships on one team, but I can’t find them so I might’ve deleted them. This one just has us crewing one ship. And it’s shown from the captain’s seat, which is the least… active. The captain pilots the ship and sets the strategy for everyone else - playing the other positions has a lot more variety, they have to run around and fix equipment, put out fires, buff equipment, go to different weapon stations, etc. There’s a lot of strategy, coordination, and teamwork in the game and it’s quite satisfying when you pull it off right.

Anyway, if you’re interested, grab the game while it’s discounted through tomorrow. If you already have it, reinstall it and we’ll play together.

I picked up Guns of Icarus. Looking forward to trying it with you guys!

Gah, I missed it! That one looks fun.

Does Steam usually have a spring sale? I’ve been thinking of getting Kerbal Space Program too, but if there’s a good chance of both being 50% off in a few weeks I’ll just wait.

Guns of Icarus Online is under $4 at indiegala. We’ve been playing a decent bit lately, filling out two 4-man crews sometimes.

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is on sale for $15, which is a new low price. I feel like I got burned by buying Diablo 3 when it came out, but everyone says that between the patches they put out and the new expansion it’s practically like a new game, so I’m thinking about throwing down that $15 to rescue that $60 I spent on the original if it really is good now.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in getting it and then either starting new characters entirely, or continuing the game from where the base game left off and the expansion kicks in, add me on battle.net - senorbeef#1394.

Edit: Looks like they’re 50% off on the Blizzard store directly, so $20 each, so if you don’t want to use gamestop for some reason (also a digital download - probably just a product code to plug into battle.net) then you can get them that way.

Diablo 3 is entering a new season starting this Friday, and I posted here to organize anyone who might want to give the game a try with a fresh start. If you haven’t played it in a long time, it’s a lot better now.

If you have GTA 5 sign up for our SDMB crew.

Arma 3 free weekend going on this weekend. We can give it a try together. There’s lots of different ways to play multiplayer.

Guns of Icarus is 75% off on Steam until May 29th!!!

I have not played this much but the little I have played was a lot of fun. While it is co-operative and competitive it is more fun than worry.

If anyone gets this I’d be very interested in playing (that said I have almost no idea what I am doing so hopefully someone more experienced can be a guide).
