thanks for the compiling the Year End Standings.
I didn’t cash in the poker tournaments at Tunica but played ok. Busted fairly early in the $50 tournament that my GF gave me. But since I won so much in the cash game early early Saturday morning (see below) $160 buy-in, 104 players. I finished about 25th. Decent, but about 10 spots out of the money.
I had two sessions with cash games at Tunica. Playing $4/$8. First session was lasted about 1.5 hours and I was getting really good cards. There was one really obnoxious player at the table and I took him for about $100 of the $200 that I won.
The second session was a lot longer, about 4 hours. At another $4/$8 table. Again, I was getting good cards, but getting notched. I won some really good pots with some indifferent cards. I flopped a 5 high straight in the big blind (4/3 clubs) which turned out to be the nuts. Two players flopped two pair with A/5 and A/2 so there was a lot of action.
On the bad side, I was dealt pocket Jacks, and the action was heavy pre-flop between me and two other players. There was 4 raises to cap the bet at $20 per player.
Flop Ac/Js/3s, I got trip jacks, 2nd nuts at this time, only losing to pocket aces, with a possible flush and straight draws.
I led out with a bet, and I was raised by both players , I called and both players raised again. By this time, one player is all-in, so I know the raising can’t get out of hand on the turn and river. I am ‘only’ facing two $8 bets, with a $120 pot in the middle. Pretty good pot odds
Turn: 8 spades Flush draws hits.
I check, player bets, I figure he has the flush, and i have outs, I call.
River: 5 spades, Now I know there is a flush. I check he bets, and I call, the pot is too rich not to take the chance. He has Ace of Spades and King Hearts. He hit the nut flush on the river. The guy that was All-in never showed his hand and I never found out what he had. (He was across the table). Lost $56 on that hand. Ugh!
I had so many good hands that got beat, I had aces cracked once, and lost with pocket kings one time as well. I was dealt A/Q more times than I could count, and could never make a hand. but I won enough pots with marginal cards that I won about $70 in that session.
I lost about $100 playing Blackjack and Paigow poker so I netted about $40 when you count the $160 poker tournament entry fee. Not a bad a trip since I came home with more money than I left with :D. It could have been so much better though as first place in the high dollar tournament was ~$5000.
Had steak and lobster on Friday night and that was good.
