I did this with my own message group. Since we only have ~200 members on it, it was a lot easier to do.
Here’s how it works. I’ll take the screen names of the first 20 people or so to post to this thread (who also want to play, of course). There’s a Web site where you can input up to something like 50 words, and a word-find puzzle is produced. So I’ll take the names, input 'em into the system, and voila! We’ll have a Straight Dope Word Find.
Once the Word Find’s done, I’ll post the URL for it here, and you guys can waste time at work trying to find everyone.
Note: For members who have numbers in their screen name, I’m going to drop the numbers - it’s too easy to find you in the puzzle!
Anyone game?
Oh, and if we want to do a second, or third, or whatever, we can - I’ll just take the next set of 20-something.
It’s pretty amazing, huh? Think what we could do if we could harness this energy for good rather than Mundane and Pointless. But where’s the fun in that?
[Just as a note - if you don’t say you want to play, then I won’t put your name in. So if you feel like posting to this thread but don’t want to play, that’s completely cool. But if you do want to play, please say so. ;)]
I don’t have a job. Of course, if I could drag myself away from the computer long enough to actually make some headway in that direction, I’d probably have one lickety-split!
Go ahead and drop the underscore. Still, I have a feeling that my name is going to be too easy to find, if only because of the “x”.
My moment of shining fame! Woohoo!
I love word finds. Methinks I should finish more word searches in my gigantic book of them… it has 469. (of course, if this download doesn’t work, then that’s what I’ll be doing… maybe)
