HOLY HELL, are you Captain C?

Hahaha, I didn’t even know you were playing Die2nite!

That’s hilarious. Wow, that’s just funny.

You get out much, do you?

Bought the game. Only drawbacks I see are the lack of Destruction Zone/King of the Hill and it only supports a 360 gamepad or keyboard. Capture the Flag, Return the Flag, Jamboree, Pathfinder, Gate Hunt, and Race are still there. 8 Dopers chasing flags in Antarctica would be fun!

That looks like the sort of game you can get a lot of people to buy when it’s $5 at Christmas, but not at a new price. Although personally I hate the extreme motion blur that racing games try to use to cover up a lack of world detail. I’d rather just see an ugly world than have everything blurred like that.

Going to get another SDMB Civ 5 game going, see this thread if you’re interested. (Notice the dates - after the OP you can skip towards the end)

Sounds interesting. I’ve been pouring hours into Civ 5 (since I got it for Christmas), but I’ve never played it online.

Modern Warfare 3 is free to play this weekend, so if you’ve been meaning to check it out and didn’t want to pay an exorbitant price now is your chance.

Yep, I’m planning to cram some time in on the free weekend so I pretty much see all there is to see and have no need to buy it. Contact me if you want to play together.

Amazon has Payday The Heist for $5. It’s a steamworks game so they’ll give you a key that you can plug into steam and treat it like a steam game.

I’ve heard it’s good, and that it’s sort of like L4D coop, except with cops instead of zombies, and bank heists instead of trying to make it from safe room to safe room. Certainly sounds like it’s worth a try for $5, so I’ll try to organize some games.

Hey, just thought I would post here that I joined Steam today (I’m quitting WoW for good, so I need something to do on weekends other than play Sims and Portal). My name is Auriadne if anybody wants to add me. I don’t know how to join groups and I don’t even have any games yet, though I’m looking at Portal 2–how’s the co-op mode on that? What else is good to buy? I have an older video card (nvidia geforce 7600gt) so I probably can’t run the latest games. I know Portal and Portal 2 run well on older cards, though, as does WoW. But I’ve never really played PC games other than the few I mentioned here, so I’m not sure what my computer can handle.

Add me! and stuff

First, you need to create a community profile. It says “Auriadne” doesn’t exist.

The 7600 gt should run half-life 2 engine stuff like portal 2 just fine. Which incidentally, and I mean purely by chance, brings me to the portal 2 coop. Which is fantastic, at least the first couple of levels I tried are, and the whole thing is apparently the bees knees. Of course, given that portal 2 has been practically given away by valve numerous times, everyone and their grandma has already gone through it, makin portal co op newbies as rare as one eyed, spotted unicorns. Most of the fun is in figuring out the puzzles together, so as someone who hasn’t played, I’m the portal 2 equivalent of the ugly, awkward dude at the prom without a date.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: oh please play with me, oh please!

Thanks. It didn’t explain any of that when I signed up. I think I fixed it now, and I have a matching custom URL: Steam Community :: Error (and 2 friends, you guys rock!)

I bought Bioshock 2 yesterday, since it was only $5, and I figured I need to learn how to play shooters sometime. I didn’t install it yet, though (lack of disk space). I need to install the second hard drive I bought last year. Haven’t had a pressing need for it, but now I could definitely use the gigs.

I want to finish my Portal 2 campaign before I do co-op mode, but we definitely should! (once I buy a physical copy of the game, and I will soon) I still don’t know how that blue flubber stuff works.

Yeah definitely tackle the single player first. You’ll need to understand all the puzzle concepts first. Just don’t forget about me when you do!

If you plan on adding another drive for your games, pop back on the forums wen you set it up. Steam installs games to its installation folder by default. But there’s a couple of simple ways to have it install to a secondary drive.

Over the weekend we played a game of half-life 2 deathmatch again for the first time in a long time. I forgot how fun the game is. Mostly because you can use the gravity gun as a weapon and fling toilets and cars into people. Anyway, pretty much everyone should have it, and if you already have a source engine game installed it’s a small install (maybe 1gb), so sometime when we throw a game together you’re ready.

Steam is giving out half-price coupons for Heroes 6. Like Claptree, I already have the game.

And for AC: Revelations, which I already have. Anybody wants 50% off of ACR, friend me up on Steam (kmatheny) and let me know. The coupon is good through April 1.

Blur is on steam for $5 until Thursday. It’s a mario kart style racing game - power ups and shooting at each other - but with a realistic aesthetic (real cars, arcadey racing). It’s actually pretty fun and definitely worth $5. The racing is arcadey enough that you can probably get by with playing on keyboard just fine if you don’t own something better to race with.

Anyway, I’ll be hosting games this weekend so grab it if you’re interested and have it installed.

Not sure if you read this thread, but I forget your SDMB name - Lady Gaga, if you happen to be able to read this, I rebooted before remembering to write your number down, and lost it. Send me a PM with your number if you get this.

I created a Tribes: Ascend thread. It’s a F2P game we can play together - we’ll be running some games this weekend so download it if you want to give it a go.
