Oh man. Don’t offer cookies, I have a serious problem with cookies.
Anyway, don’t sweat it, if you get your paypal problems settled and have an opportunity, sponsor someone else. I was glad to help.

I’ve never had to do this before, but I do this time…
Could someone perhaps help me out? Things here at the KittyHouse have gotten a bit desperate recently, and I just don’t have the assets I used to. Given a month or so, I would happily pay back the cost of the membership, but the deadline sort of crept up on me.
Please?
I’ve got you covered, bobkitty.
Late to the thread — as usual — but I can manage a charter or two (or a regular membership) if there’s still anybody who needs one. Email in my profile, and I’ll be watching this thread as well.
I certainly will help someone else, if I can get the darned paypal figured out.
I don’t know if everyone’s subscription comes due at the same time, but if someone needs it I can send the fee to them snail mail.
And not everyone is immune to the charms of cookies. Ask swampbear.
Actually, I meant to say is that my problem with cookies is that I can’t resist them! Next time I’m through Kansas I’ll stop by the library and check some out. (pun intended)
jeez, hate to ask this but I can’t get subscribed to pay pal. I have a job and all that so it’s nothing to do with the money. I don’t have a checkbook either so I’m not sure how to pay someone back. I do have credit cards that work…and be happy to buy someone else a gift subscription if I can figure out how to transfer the money.
So, can someone help out with a gift subscription and let me know how I can pay back using a credit card I would much appreciate it. Thanks!
China Guy- you can pay using a credit card- Tuba Diva explains above.
If that doesn’t work, can you PM me?
sigh swallows pride Could someone spot me the $7.48 to renew?
My subscription expires in 2 days. I like this place. I’m graduating this week. I have enough money to pay my rent and buy basic groceries. Loan payments starting in June will take the rest of what I’m making temping for the summer, and hopefully I’ll have enough left over for (non-essential, but extremely helpful) medication, and things like bus fare and occasionally eating something other than rice and ramen.
I would offer to repay anyone who offers, but unfortunately the ‘great for a resume’ job I have starting in October only provides a stipend, and I will in fact be living under the poverty line for the next year. But I really like this place; it provides a pleasant break from the real world and I’m fond of most of you.
I’ll get right on it, NinjaChick.
IMPORTANT QUESTION:
When I see the new tab with Paypal after I click on the Order button, I do NOT see the following:
There are no left-hand hyperlinks at all. There is instead a simple form that says “pay with credit card or login” above it.
Is this form “safe” to use? Does it automatically sign me up with PayPal or enter the card I use into PayPal’s system? I’m nervous about using it because I don’t see the hyperlink TubaDiva mentions.
Please answer ASAP!
I’ve used it with my credit cards several times and have had no problems. It did not sign me up with Pay Pal and I have no indication any info was sent to Paypal.
While it didn’t work at work with my super duper connection back to the US, I did manage to get this done at home. So ignore that previous request. Thanks. I am willing to try again to try gifting a subscription but won’t be back on line for a day or two.
I think you’re on the page before the one where you get to make a choice.
Try clicking through to the next page, I bet then you’ll see the PayPal box on the right and the “pay by credit card” option on the left.
The “pay by credit card” option block of text looks like this:
Don’t have a PayPal account?
Use your credit card or bank account (where available). Continue
In the form Continue is, of course, a hyperlink.
This is all confusing because PayPal chose not to put a name on the side of the system that lets you use your credit card – it’s all branded “PayPal.” Which I guess makes sense, PayPal owns both sides. So you have your choice between PayPal and . . . PayPal.
If you use your credit card you will not be registered with PayPal and if you have an existing account with PayPal it will not be triggered. You CAN use your PayPal account – in fact, PayPal encourages you to do so by this setup – but you don’t have to. If PayPal processes your credit card to make this payment they do not retain your information. No salesman will come to your door.
What about good looking sales women?
Thank you so much! I really do appreciate it.
Hi guys - I can’t justify the measly $7.48 this year. Things are tight. If anyone wants to spot me, thank you so much.
Done, pending confirmation from the PTB.
Doctor Who, you are good to go here. Thanks, OttoDeFe.
To the powers that be.
I think a little more prior warning that subscriptions are going to expire would be good. Had I been on vacation this week my account would have expired and my one claim to coolness “Charter Membership” would be gone. That would make me sad.
