SDMB Subscription Help 2009-2010 edition

Will be right. That has to be my last (on threat of getting my throat cut) however.

Should be done. Let me know if I screwed up.

You screwed up snork. We both payed at the same time and it could not have been me at fault

. . .does that mean she gets two years? ::hides::

well, she’s certainly covered!

Y’all are the best.

While I’m at it, Paul in Qatar is having an argument with PayPal, it seems to not like folks in furrin parts. Can one of you help out here?

Tubadiva- how much longer before the deadline expires?

For Paul? Monday.

Done. And I’m done, too.

Thank you so much!

are there any outstanding requests? I’ll see if my PayPal mad skilz will work a second time.

Dang! Baker outed me! It’s true! I can be had for homemade cookies.

I really like this board, and would like to stay a member, but, alas, I have no disposable income at the moment. If anyone could help me, that would be really great. But, I don’t want to be a bother, so if not, I understand.

When does your membership expire Captain Socks?

Yay! My membership has been renewed! Thanks Jodi!

No big deal, because I can afford the difference, but what happened to the half-price membership for charter members?

Only applies to memberships that don’t lapse. See any of the threads in this forum with people bitching about the fact that they didn’t renew in a timely manner – bye-bye “charter member” title, bye-bye discount.

I’m confused about the concept of ‘timely manner’ - it’s only been 2 weeks since the only email I got from the Dope about my membership potentially lapsing. That’s ‘timely’ in most environments.

Last spring and summer, the PTB were saying the board was imminently going back to being a free board - hell, they all but apologized for making people pay to re-up last year - so I wasn’t worried about my membership lapsing; I assumed the whole concept was going bye-bye. Which is one reason why I’m not making head or tail about people’s comments about the absence of a ‘renewal window’ - why would I renew before I knew I’d need to?

Been some backing and forthing on the subscription issue – after the decision to go to a free/show you ads business model was made Bad Things Happened (the publishing industry’s wholesale slide towards oblivion, corporate parent filing for bankruptcy) and the showing you ads model didn’t look near so useful. Deriving some income from subscriptions looked really really good and so subscriptions were kept.

Subscriptions are optional – though appreciated – you just see more ads if you don’t subscribe and there’s some other minor perks of membership that we hope to add to as we can. The hope is that there’s something here for every price point including no price at all.

No doubt all of this has been confusing – it’s a very confusing time. We hope for betterment in all things for all involved.

Well, I’m here because Liberal told me to. It really sucks, but it seems that Charter Members can’t sponsor non-Charter Members anymore. :frowning:

Anyways, I ask any Members to read this post and the ones which relate to it (particularly those by Liberal), and do what they feel like doing.

Thanks.
