Today, for the first time in several (4? 5?) years, I swam 1/2 mile without stop…
One of these days I’m going to count how many laps I do. I think the pool is about 30 feet long, and I do laps for a half hour each time I’m in there.
Today is weigh-in day. Thanks to the Wendie plan, I’m down a pound and a half. That’s a shocker, since I’ve been stuck for so long!
256/193.5/170
I got my blood work results back from the Dr. My cholesterol is down, and my triglycerides are well in the normal range. YAY! In the “Note” field at the bottom of the form, she wrote “Cholesterol is better - keep up with the low-fat diet and return for recheck in 6 months.”
I chuckled. Low carb got the effects that she sought from low fat. I feel smug, and further convinced that low-carb advocates may well be on to something.
For the last two days I’ve weighed in at 141.5, which I’m okay with.
Like niblet_head, I live in Chicago and the weather is making it hard for me to get even ordinary exercise. I don’t have time to work out at a gym, but if it were just a wee bit warmer, I could go on a little walk at lunch, which would be so awesome. Cabin fever has set in! Fortunately, weather.com says that we’re going to be above freezing almost every day this week, and even get into the 40s for a few days!
So. 145/141.5/130. It’s 13 weeks til ChiDope and I have 11.5 pounds to lose. Easy!
All is well on the Snoopy front. Last I checked I was up to 71 pounds lost. Next weigh in will be probably Monday.
Still hoping to be at 100 by Easter but we shall see.
I’m coming to the house of moderate discomfort to take away your Indian take-away menus.
Checking in.
Swimming that 1/2 mile is getting a whole lot easier…

I lost a pound, yay! :does a little happy dance:
For any of you that might be interested, here’s a neat website that will “diagnose” your injuries for free. You just click where it hurts.
Vunderbob had me thinking, so today I counted my laps. 90 laps = 2700 feet, which is over a half mile. Whee!
Boo! You can’t take away my beautiful, life-giving Indian food!
I had a veggie burger and a cantaloup for dinner. I don’t know if that makes up for the…ummm…some number of Girl Scout Cookies I ate today. Bah. Why do those damned cookies have to be so nummy?
261/245/175 in a world where middle-aged men can get back to their 16-year-old vital statistics.
Taking a sabbatical today in order to enjoy an all-you-can-scarf Chinese buffet lunch, but keen to get back on the straight and narrow without delay. Eating well and still very happy with Atkins.
I thought with Atkins that you had to be on it 24/7 to stay in ketosis for it to work?
191.5 this morning, yippee! Of course, tomorrow is weigh-in day, it’ll be up by then.
Yes, but if you fall off the wagon you go back onto induction for as long as necessary.
The point’s moot anyway. The guy organising the Chinese forgot and went off to lunch by himself. Obviously God wants me to stick to Atkins.
I was right, weigh-in day put me at 192.5. Still, that’s 63.5 pounds gone.
I fell off the Atkins wagon tonight. I had such an awful evening, and all I could think about was having some good comfort food–and not having to cook. My husband and I went out for pizza.
I don’t fall off the Atkins wagon very often, because, yes, it does knock you out of ketosis, and it’s a few days of induction-level carbs to get back in.
But, that was some mighty fine pizza (Excellent local place. Had “The Works,” which is packed with veggies, so I could be the queen of rationalization about it). Totally worth the cheat.
Tomorrow, when my day is looking much brighter, I’m right back on the wagon.
I’m an idiot. I bought couscous the other day as a side dish, because it’s yummy and 3 points per cup. I just finished dinner, and looked at the box: 700mg of sodium per serving.
Yeah. I’m pretty sure my weight will be up this week, tomorrow’s weigh-in.
Drink as much water as you can stand, and then some. Hopefully, it will flush most of the excess sodium out.
Yeah, I’m up. A combination of my period and eating that salt lick last night have put me up a pound.
I’d gotten into my bad old habits for a few weeks, so on Sunday, I was back into Phase 1 again. I’ve lost about half of what I’d regained, but unfortunately, I haven’t regained my original enthusiasm and discipline. I’m blaming it on the impending move and the ease of eating out in places that have yummy bread and honey butter.
At least I’m still able to wear the smaller jeans, as I’ve gotten rid of all the biggest ones. So onward and downward…
